  • Ryan Reynolds spoke recently of a new Wrexham FC training ground being is priority. I had a look at two locations in Wrexham which might suit their needs. Any other ideas? Would these locations work or not?

    In addition to administrative offices, gym, medical, a couple of grass training pitches, and an all-weather training pitch, I wouldn’t be surprised if they also wanted to build a small ground there. Something the size of The Rock. 3,000 capacity, w/ 500 seated. Home ground for the women, reserves, academy teams, etc. They’ll want to build the whole facility in stages as the various parts of the club grow, so I think an out of town plot with plenty of room for expansion. Sounds like they have a few in mind. Would love to see them break ground this year.

    The Grove would be the best spot for them in my opinion. The reason for that is the amount of room they have for potential expansion. As the team ranks up and grows everything else will need to as well.

    The Groves would be an excellent location for a training area for Wxm AFC. It’s been left derelict for far too long so would be nice to see the old building restored and the wasted land around it used. The 9-acre is also a good option due to its under-use and equally good location. Fingers crossed the council don’t stand in the way!

    • @WrexhamAFCfanzone

      I personally think the Groves too at least until we reach a far higher league. Its such a shame to see the Groves in such disrepair.

  • @doberski6855
    @doberski6855 Před 2 měsíci +7

    I think Groves works better, but I think the city council trying to do a deal to develop Nine Acres when the locals clearly don't want that, is a cheap stunt. Let Wrexham FC use the Groves or don't, but don't tie it to Nine Acres, seems like the people have spoken where that green area is concerned. As for the buildings at the Groves, can't it be both? Part used for a museum, and the rest for the training center.

    • @WrexhamAFCfanzone
      @WrexhamAFCfanzone  Před 2 měsíci +1

      The news article that mentioned the school was in 2020 so i am not 100% certain they'd still want a school there now. But the Groves is a fantastic location. It has everything, space, car parking, room for buildings and is so close to the ground. Other than there only other places mentioned are Ruabon and the industrial estate.

    • @WrexhamAFCfanzone

      That was when they moved to Colliers or before? I am wracking my brains where a new training ground could be in Wrexham as they are the only 2 areas of land? I know we have the industrial estate but breathing in the air there might not be very healthy. I heard talk about Ruabon but not sure where.

    Both locations are suitable but there would have to be a considerable investment and construction. I'm not sure the people in the area would be too happy about this. A lot of people would have to be 'sold' on this. Perhaps a facility in which multiple clubs could use?

    • @WrexhamAFCfanzone
      @WrexhamAFCfanzone  Před 2 měsíci

      The Groves was once a busy school and then after that for a few years apparently it had a sports centre that was opening during the day and evening. I can't see really how residents could complain, they've just been lucky to have had empty space for as long as they have.

      I agree the sites mentioned here are too small. Wrexam have ambitions to play in the Premier League. So you need to build a training ground with a huge land. Where you can build now to fit its needs at the present. Then expand later to build more facilities when their needs grow in the future.

    Building in the city center would be a mistake IMO. Need space to grow. Need space for the men's team, women's team, youth team, and the community since Rob and Ryan want the grounds to benefit them too. If they can get permits to build on some of the farmland or fields outside the center, that would probably be ideal.
