It's like... you're not building a RC car, but a real car in small dimensions.
Thank you for sharing your magnificent works! 🥰
make the clutch servo arm shorter. for more precise clutch release and less load on the servo
Imo, Id shorten the clutch fork side and enlarge the servo side. Bigger amount of throw on the servo for a little fork movement. Is that what your thinking of?
@@Noah-qs3rq yes sir!
@@Noah-qs3rqits oposite
I'm not entirely sure this is possible with the remote but if there is a way to define any code: a little low pass would help, or just an averaging filter. This would dampen the clutch response and make it more smooth.
Would work as well or better on the receiver side.
@@Mefistofy we're talking about giving the servo more mechanical advantage against the clutch fork. it will shorten the travel of the clutch, lessen the load on the servo
Just amazing to see Johnny building the car
Real spill
Awesomeness I truly want to thank you for building the scale car and transmission!
Cork & leather were both used as clutch material in older cars, too! My Hudson uses a cork clutch (admittedly it's in a bath of ATF, which might be way it survives) and lots of brass-era vehicles used leather-wrapped cones much like you made.
I know the clutch on my old Industrial sewing machine is cork. Admittately, the modern servo motors offer way better control. Lol
I'm pretty sure cork clutches are actually a composite of cork and resin or cork and friction oil. Wet clutch stops the material being brittle or overheating and wearing too much.
My cork is just plain too short!
@@transmitterguy478 My cork keeps getting worn out from too much friction!
Another amazing installment from you. I really enjoy watching your builds, no nonsense sales pitch to buy stuff, sign up today! Thank you for the update.
13:09 sounded a heck of a lot like a real full size V8 hitting the limiter trying to launch with wheel spin haha! Amazing.
This car does not have a limiter as incorporating an effective one would be very expensive . If you run the engine without load slightly rich AFR ,it can still run away and float valves and break connecting rods from engine overspeed which has happened to other model cars of this kind . Johnny has destroyed an engine from overspeed , excessive RPM before .
sounded like a blender
@@robertmcfadyen9156 I said like a real life V8 hitting the limiter, not a model engine hitting the limiter :)
You're so talented in every way, very impressive.
If you had a good transmitter, you could program a mix with the clutch channel and throttle channel. When throttle is at neutral and below, have the clutch servo disengage. The more throttle you give, the more the clutch engages. Would be a bit of a pain for initial setup but it should work.
so it would work exactly like the automatic clutch he used in his previous builds..?
Probably not without a spring array like in a proper car clutch .
@@ofcefcipu8954 The automatic clutch modulation wasn't very good or consistent though . Sadly these models are "BUILT TO A PRICE" .
Johnny should consider working for a microprocessor / electronic chipset design team instead .
@@robertmcfadyen9156 he made a manual clutch so he could control it manually, thats what i meant with my comment, also, why should he work with microprocessors instead??
Following the account for years now, I just LOVE how you're building the dream RC for all of us. Congratulations! Can't wait to hear this thing downshift and rev up!
I love the way this project slowly unfolds. It just keeps getting better!
you might want to mix the clutch channel into the throttle. when on full brakes, clutch is fully disengaged. as brake is released, the clutch can move in and you could add some expo if needed to smooth it out.
I think the whole reason he added a manual clutch like that was so he could control it separately.
@@sidewaysdatsun8719 in that case, it needs to be on a push button
@@wedgie502it needs to be on some sort of analog/proportional control though, so it can slip just a bit to start from a dead stop. With his current controller, that little dial is probably about the only option he has. What he REALLY needs is a second trigger for just the clutch. I can see right now, running the clutch plus steering would be an awkward situation. You could easily do it with a 4+ channel aircraft transmitter, it'd definitely take some getting used to though as you'd need 3 channels just for propulsion/braking, and only one for yaw/steering.
As an automotive student, This has becone one of my favorite channels that I subscribed to. Although its small scale Vehicles, the engines are quite realistic. I really really like your Videos and I can relate to what I learn in College to what I see in your Videos! Please continue doing content like this. I truly appreciate and enjoy watching them.
Always a treat to watch a upload from the mad machinist at work !!
Thx Johnny 👍👍😎
Always an educational experience. Thank you for sharing your passion for Miniature engines and R/C cars with us.
This is truly the stuff of my dreams. Love it, tyvm for keeping us updated along the journey!!!
The thing is, that Johnny‘s videos always take so much time to make that I take my extra time to watch it in full length because I love them so much
I always look forward to new videos. Wish I had half the knowledge and skill you do. Epic as always.
This has got to be one of the coolest things ive ever seen. I never thought id see a manual RC car, a V8RC car, running coolant, radiator with thermostat, remote start, disk breaks, a real clutch, and just too much to name. This thing is off the charts bud. Freakin awesome. Well done
Cnc machining is always so satisfying
Thanks for sharing your craft & love for rc cars . I enjoy watching you design, build & work on your dream.
Always good to see what your up to Johnny. Thanks so much for sharing
Thanks Johnny for doing what you do, this channel is amazing, and your comments seem to be filled with helpful enthusiastic engineers and bewildered laymans like me !
the way how you film yourself doing these wonderful craftmanship jobs is simply amazing. You are the example I want to follow in my CZcams adventure!
Crazy the difference in complexity with gas vs electric. Your build skills are impressive!
Looking good. Can't wait to see it out on the test road for a proper run
Now you need a button (on the controller) that locks the front brakes (only), so you can do some sweet & smokey burnouts!
Watching any of your videos just makes me smile and simply amazed by all the innovations. Just imagine how many people you have inspired with your videos. Only thing is we all wish for more and their are over way to quick! Thanks for sharing your expert craftsmanship and knowledge!
It is nice to have knowledge and all those tools looks great. Keep it up and good luck out there
Awesome job brother! I really love this build 👍👍👍👍
So satisfying to watch. Chapeau Johnny!
Absolutly stunning what you have done. I'm really excited to see your next video...
sweet build! thanks for posting
exceptional. The reference on YT, hands down.
Amazing work, love the little skid marks
State of the art of engineering. Almost as complicated as our own car minus the fuel injection. Bravo !
Je te remercierai jamais assez pour ce que tu nous fait partager ! Tu est incroyable, respect !
Nice! Seems like you're getting all the engineering kinks worked out. Keep going! I think it would be cool to see the v12 in a monster truck platform.
Never fail to amaze me 😆 love the build
Great work bro, waiting for the fully finished RC
Holy moly, I love where this project is going!
It looked like you were getting a little smoke when you were spinning the tires. That thing is really awesome!
I just want to be in the shop watching the work happen! I love it!
Actual tyre smoke is epic!!! Can't wait tonsee this tuned, it's going to be a beast!!
Great work for now! We are excited to see more!
amazing work as always johnny!!!
Been waiting YEARS to see this very drive test. Bravo.
Wow! I'm just so excited to see this thing working. And not to speak of the hard take off:s with some wheelspinn. 😁
Awesome build. Twin exhaust system for the win!
Johnny some steel wool inside the exhaust box should cut down the oil but as it’s still a nitro model engine you’ll never be able to get rid of it completely as most nitro mix runs 18-20% caster or synthetic oils.
Keep up the good work loving the builds
I'm not sure how this engine would handle it but you can always lean it out a little too ;)
If you had the same large machinery....you can build your own car.....amazing
Launched too many times and blew the clutch lol
Love it. Will be following suit with a similar clutch setup in mine also. Keep up the good work 👍.
It's coming along real nice.
Sounds like a nascar, beautifull, you better get a nascar shell 😉
Love this project man
Always enjoy your builds
Your project is amazingly cool.
Awesome job mate well done.
The little beast is looking and sounding quite mighty!
Impressive af ! Big big BRAVO !
That exhaust is pure class🎉
Incredible work. Wow
Loving this build. I was surprised to see just how well that Zippo lighter fuel bottle turned into a muffler XD. I'm sure there will be less oil discharging once you tune the engine a bit leaner.
Master Craftsman. Beautiful work.
You amaze me man. Every thing I’m interested in you give us thx man
Awesome Video Johnny!
Awesome video. You are an artist.
Can't wait for new plumbing and gearbox, a full-send take off next !😊 adapt and innovate😊
Amazing work!
I love watching these videos. I’ve watched since the very beginning
awesome build!
This car sounds very nice at the back. The exhaust back box adds some bass to it
Your channel never disappoints!!!
Great job! Very cool car!
This deserves millions of views
Q 90 ..usted es un Monstruo en este tema 👍...lo felicito*
Always with the banger videos, this man is amazing
The Project Binky of the RC world...simply fantastic!
Add an ignitor to that exhaust and shoot some flames lol
Wow,you have done a really good job
Man that's some good work, not easy to fabricate😊😊
Love this build
Very impressive, Cheers from N. California 👍🏽
Excellent video! 👍
Great work keep it up.
amazing work!
awesome build
I wish you good luck for the further construction !
I'm sure you'll make it !
Greetings and best regards !
This is genuinely amazing
Can't wait to see this mini-monster doing a fat burnout. :D
The rc clutch kicks are going to be epic.
LANCIA D50 Formula One body on that chassis, it even sounds like one! Super R&D!
Awesome as always!
Amazing Work.🥁😎🥁
Super cool project I love your vídeos great work 😮👍👌🔝
Awesome as usual! A few points i see as weak. -The suspension spring perches are not well supported, they will bend. -The thermostat is located in an area of low coolant circulation, once the engine will be at operating temp, the fluid will stop to flow in the expansion tank, then it will cool down under your set point and the fans will stop, overheating the engine. - The transmission is nice, but will fail fast as it is not lubricated and cooled. -Your clutch is also exposed to intrusion of oil from the engine leaks, it will slip and burn.
What you should do is a racing seat with 3 pedals, steering and shifter all linked to your remote/car. So you could actually drive it like a real car. That would be very nice.
As always, i am very impressed by your designs and dedication. A work of art. Can't wait for new developments.
This has been so much fun to watch come together. Watch your shin been there done that.
Machinist are amazing. Love the trade. I don’t know why I love to surface grind so much. Tool and die is a dying breed.
This is dopest thing I've ever seen bro!
I have no idea why this is so interesting to me but I subbed to see where it goes. Very cool!
Awesome job!
amazing build.
