I've listened to Hue & Cry since the 80's. It's hard to believe that almost 40 years has gone by since I bought their first record. I saw them live in Glasgow in '87 and then again in '90 in Cambridge. I live in the US now and I tend to go years without listening, but when I return I can't stop for months on end. Pat & Greg somehow keep going from "strength to strength". This duet with Eleanor evokes so many emotions for me personally. Sadness, regret and even fear are tinged with the joy of seeing Pat sing so beautifully with his daughter. I do hope to see them perform again. Please keep making music.

"Let her go, your work is through" When you have daughters is it ever through? Brilliant song. Been listening to Hue and Cry since the beginning. Seeing Eleanor singing this duet with Pat and Greg has suddenly made me feel old!!! When She Makes a Sound was released Eleanor was still 5 or 6 years away from being born!! Where have the years gone? My favourite track from Pocketful of Stones.
Sadly my daughter & I are chalk & cheese. It's a difficult relationship.
I remember reading a book called "Fatherhood" with short stories by writers, actors, singers writing their own recollections of (or lack of) fatherhood. His memories of her birth and discussion about what she may grow up to be. But the best thing is it starts and ends with the same sentence 'DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT WEE MAN!" his daughter runs after a ball she kicked and some older lad thought it would be funny to kick it away.....until "that" voice freezes him in his tracks. Wonderful to see his daughter following in her father and uncles footsteps.

Sadly not true. The song was written in the early 90's for Grace, Pats eldest daughter. Eleanor was born around 7 years after the record was released. I have been a fan of Hue and Cry since the beginning but this the first time I have ever heard Eleanor sing. Totally blown away. Fantastic voice. Just like her father.

Eleanor is amazingly like her father both in looks and vocal talent. That apple didn't fall from from the tree.
