Hi Friend's and CZcams Family,

Our family cottage was built by my husband's great grandfather in the late 1930's. It has a bread box build into a drawer in the kitchen. It's lined with metal (tin, I think). The drawer pulls out, then we lift up the hinged cover to access the bread or rolls inside. The kitchen is very small and doesn't have much counter space, so I guess why the breadbox was built that way. The breadboxes you restored are all so beautiful! You two do great work, and I'm learning so much watching your videos. Thank you!
Oh.. I can imagine what you are talking about. Yes, I remember those.. thank you for sharing your memories with me and for watching 💝
Well done! It’s fun to see all of those old items undergo transformations. Maybe, a heart shape around those dates would let the new owners know that you love sharing the information of their treasures previous life. Keep up the good work!
Cute idea❤️
I LOVE THE ADDED WHITE AND BLACK FLOWERED CONTACT PAPER ON THE INSIDE, BECAUSE IT CONTINUES THE CLEAN AND CRISP LOOK FROM THE OUTSIDE IN.......
Thank you for noticing that detail 🖤🤍
The putty on the bread/letters box is amazing....like how it turned out
I love every one of these! And I love the way you show respect for the original creator of these pieces by taping off the signatures, dates, stamps or whatever it may be.
Aww.. thank you for watching and noticing those details 💝
Is it bigger than a breadbox? No, it IS a breadbox 😁
Love all of them and every choice you made for each one was the right one! They’re all just so darn farmhouse sweet!!!
My fave was the last one you showed with the bakery stencil on it.
Lol.. loved this🥰
They all turned out beautifully! I love the one that you left plain. The detail that came out with the sanding was enough , in my opinion. Well done with all of them!
Thank you so much!
You never disappoint. I am always excited to see the finished pieces. Fabulous as always Yvonne.
Aww.. thank you Michele💕
Enjoy listening and learning from you with a cup of coffee and a donut! Allowing you and your husband to do all the heavy lifting! Bravo
Lol.. we will be happy to do it💝
Omgoodness! They flipped so beautifully, I love them all. And, I love that you chose to leave the original carving on that one, it just give it so much added character. I'd venture to say that I believe it will sell really quick. However, my favorite is the Durham (my maiden name) special. That water putty is amazing! Thanks for sharing and continuing to inspire others. Be blessed! xx
Thank you.. thank you for sharing Durham family name.. Now if you were only an heir to this company. You’d have an endless supply 🤗
Oh my gosh! You and Chris have done it again, such beautiful work. Love these little boxes💕
Aww.. thank you 💝
That box that looked "carved" was actually sand blasted. It was a popular seventies craft. I remember taking a class, in 1978, where we learned how to transfer patterns and words to adhesive backed rubber sheets. Those would be carefully cut out and stuck onto a piece of wood, and then the wood would be sandblasted. When the rubber was removed, the area under it would still be smooth.
Oh.. thank you for sharing that 🤗
I absolutely love all the bread boxes. You and your husband do such beautiful work.
Aww.. thank you
Wow Yvonne, you really brought these beauties back to life. They are all so pretty now. Hope you and your family are all doing well. 💕
Thank you for watching Beth. Hope you all are staying safe. I saw a cute DIY you did on Julie’s page😉💝
@@GingerChickRehab Thank you Yvonne! I had so much fun doing it.
These are the best Bread Box flips yet ... the one with the carving in it...beautiful the way the wood grain shows! The one you left plain was a “WOW” out loud when I saw it . And I love the paper inside .... all 4 ...just something about them...style maybe ? But beautiful work as ALWAYS Yvonne .
Oh geez... maybe after winter my vehicle will head to Michigan! LOL!!l!!
❄️❄️💙💙💙❄️❄️
Thanks so much Jayne 😊
I would have passed up all of these! Your creative vision is definitely a step above. You take no shortcuts and all finishes are perfect. Your work is superior.
Aww.. thank you for your very kind compliment 💕
Yvonne, they are ALL gorgeous, but my FAVORITE is the one with the word "Bread" that you filled in with Durham Water Putty. You are right; what a game-changer!💝 The black and white contact paper was a nice touch - but the biggest surprise was when you opened the drop-down door and the contact paper was on the back wall - not on the bottom! ❤❤ GENIUS! ❤❤😍💝 The "cherry on top" was the lovely glass knob with the perfect stencil...I wouldn't have given that breadbox a second glance in the Thrift Store, which would have been my great loss...but NOT the FAMOUS GingerChick❤❤😍💝❤❤!!!! She doesn't miss anything with potential, LOL!❤❤😍
Oh.. thank you for noticing that it was on the back... that’s the ucky wood particle board that’s always on the back of a lot of bread box. It never paints pretty. But that contact paper is. I love it a nice surprise pop in other furniture pieces.. so why not🖤🤍...
Amazing all the work you and your husband put in! That's a labor of love. The pieces look beautiful.
Thank you 💝
LUVED all the breadboxes. Couldnt pick a fav. Another beautiful job!
Wow again you did an awesome job I just love watching you and Chris work and bring all things back to life these are beautiful you did such an awesome job thank you so much for sharing you've taught me so much and I am so grateful have a good evening God bless
Aww.. thank you for watching and sharing that Cathy💝
This video was so much fun to watch!! So many shapes and styles!! I have NEVER been able to find a bread box !! Everyone i know is on order to holler when they find one for me!! LOL !!
Oh.. I hope you find some too.. 💝
I love the bread box flip. You and Chris take so much time and make everything look so good.
Aww.. thank you for noticing 💖
Those are so stinkin' cute!! You guys have such a good eye for repurposing items. What I love, is you show us the products you use, and WHY you use it... saves other people that trial and error on their projects. You guys are awesome.
The bread boxes came out beautiful. Enjoy watching.
Thank you 🤍
I’m always amazed at the effort and detail you and Chris put into the items/furniture that you flip. Outstanding!
Aww.. thank you for noticing Ann. We appreciate that💝
Ooohh,,I Just Love that plain one,,,the ribbed wood / rollback is EXQUISITE ❤️
Aww.. thank you
I love that you are so meticulous with everything that you do. Excellent!
Aww.. thank you
Beautiful job on these! You are always so thoughtful by leaving the historic carving when you feel it is meant to be preserved. I have one on my counter (accordian door type) that needs lots of love. Thanks for the inspiration.
Oh.. thank you for sharing 🤍🖤
Hi Yvonne and Chris loved the way the bread boxes came out i haven't seen one In a thrift store for years thanks for sharing. Prayers Blessings to you and Chris and both of your families Hugs Mildred!
Oh.. thank you Mildred 💝
Hi Yvonne! First, let me compliment all your instructions in your videos. I like that you explain why, from experience, you take each step or use a specific product or method. Thank you for that. My vintage breadbox sits next to my sink. It gets sopped on the regular. Clorox Cleanup is probably part of its genetic makeup! 😂 I just have to say as a 50 year old crafty Girl, I am still blown away that stencils can be made at home these days! I must invest in one of these machines! You did wonders on the MDF Piece! All so pretty! Well done. Thank you!
Oh.. lol.. Clorox.. genetic makeup.. 🤣
Well that not a bad thing. Thank you the giggle💝
Thanks for letting me know about Durham’s water putty. Never heard of that until you showed it in your previous videos. I really like it. All the other products I’ve tried always dry up before I finish the container so I had to buy new containers each time I needed it. Love your videos! Thanks so much and God Bless💗
Oh.. yes.. nothing more flustering than wasting product.. thank you for sharing 💝
I found a 4lb can at my local Lowe's for the cost of an Amazon 1lb can. Amazon gets theirs back, I LOVE this stuff...sooo good!
Although I am not into everything black and white, I do love the quality of your work. From the start to the finish. Much better quality than some other crafters on yt.
Thank you.. oh yes our channels more than just about our color choice.. so thank you for noticing that💝
I really enjoy your channel. I too love flipping wood bread boxes for my antique booth in Missouri. I love your creativity. The boxes look great. Thanks for shart the details of the projects.
Thank you for watching
I can watch your videos ALL DAY long! Love them all
Aww.. thank you for your kindness
The rolled bread box was like a rolled desktop. They were popular in the 70's and 80's. I am thinking the water damage is either from water spill or overflow from the sink. Next possibility is a flooded basement. Since not to bad of damage the bread box was sitting on something that the water hardly got to. Great job on your bread boxes.
Thank you for sharing that. I’m glad we could save them💝
I absolutely love the time you take to care for these pieces ❤.
I love all of these bread boxs
Aww.. thank you for noticing 💝
I am so impressed with the way you redid that one bread box that said bakery on it in my heart of hearts I’m glad that you don’t ship because whatever dollar price you would’ve put on it I would’ve been the girl that bought it
Lol.. love that. Thank you for the smile 😁
Yvonne, I had to go back and watch this again for inspiration! Beautiful, just beautiful!
i liked the variety of the boxes you managed to find & appreciate the care in showing any ID markings..
Glad you liked it
Love the uniqueness of each one & that you save the makers mark. I would buy any of them that you & Chris have done. I know how much work you put into all of your pieces, even the smallest ones. I recently had a store owner tell me I put too much time into my pieces. I think that's really sad. My work is my word. It's probably a good thing that I don't live close enough to shop your booth. You would get all the profits from mine🤣❤
That is sad... It's your name on the piece and your quality.. Shame on them for not setting their standards higher
I would love any of them in my kitchen! All of them are just stunning!
Aww.. thank you for your very kind compliment 💝
Very nice, I’m always amazed at the work you and Chris do to your projects.TFS!
Aww.. thank you 💕
I love bread boxes. So old fashioned
Thank you
I love to repurpose items. I get so many new ideas from you and Chris
Aww.. thank you for sharing that 💝
Now I can do something with my outdated bread box, thanks so much.
Thank you for watching and sharing that 💕
Love that tip about using the paint on stencil to get crisp lines....you have amazing tips!
You are so welcome!
I just finished painting two of them white and put vintage glass knobs on them I also out beautiful scrap book paper for the first time inside too . Yours sure came out so very beautiful Yvonne thanks for inspiring me
Blessings from Utah 🙏✌🙏
Oh.. I bet they are beautiful.. thank you for sharing 🤍💖
Love the bread boxes. Great job, as usual, in making them new again.
Thank you 🖤🤍
Loved flipping them when I had a booth in an vintage and antique mall. Love your sprayer too!
Thank you for sharing that 💝
Love your videos! Off topic but everytime I hear your voice it reminds me of Saturday mornings watching Michigan Out of Doors with my dad, your voice sounds like the lady from it. ❤
Oh.. I remember that show.. lol 🤗
I recently worked on a bread box very similar to the engraved one. The wood was very pretty after I cleaned it up and used a wood restore on it. I painted the carved out bread lettering black and sealed with polycrylic. It turned out gorgeous.
Thank you for sharing that
I am enamored with bread boxes and have a few; one is sitting on a small bookcase that holds my cook books and one is going to hold my pasta on top the counter once painting is finished (quail/desert scene) and one as a stationary station. Love them!
Oh.. yes they are so useful 🤗💖
I learn so much from watching you, thanks for sharing!
All of them came out so pretty!! Definitely a big improvement from what they were😃!!
Thank you
I'm amazed ❤ at your flips. When I had a place to redo items I just enjoyed it so much. It's relaxing. I will look for unique bread boxes. Probably won't get the paint job as nice.
Oh.. I bet you will.. thank you for sharing
I have an old metal bread box which I redid, but after seeing yours I think I will redo it.
Loved all of yours, I want one. 😍
Aww.. We done metal ones too. 💖
When you did the metal bread 🍞 boxes
Did you video it.?
I love bread boxes so much 🙌 These are so beautiful. Thank you for sharing🥰
Oh.. I’ve seen yours. They are beautiful too 💖
@@GingerChickRehab aww! I appreciate that☺️ Thank you!
So beautiful! Gingerchic, you did an amazing job! Love watching!
Thank you 💕
I loved the remake of the bread boxes great job.
Thanks so much!
Tremendous work on restoring these bread boxes!
Thank you
Absolutely so beautiful I ilovet thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching
This was the perfect video, I have a, what you call, accordion bread box, and was wondering how to possibly restore it. Glad to see you protecting the creator's name, something I wish more people thought about when restoring these pieces as most are a dying art in the trade of handmade. And also really like the detail you kept in that bread box with the natural grain, sometimes there's a time to keep certain character, I think this was one of them.
Thank you for watching and noticing those details. We find it best to take the rolling part apart from the bread box and spray it. That way it doesn’t get painted together and can still be free flowing 🤗
I'm watching for bread boards! Thanks! They're perfect!
Aww.. thank you for watching 💕
Beautiful. Great work! Take care and stay safe my friend 🙂❤️
Thanks, you too!
These are beautiful! I think the reason there is water damage is probably because they left on a countertop near a sink and the breadbox doesn’t get moved when the counter gets wet and wiped down. Just a guess.
Your probably right🤗
Beautiful ❤️ I will definitely be looking at bread boxes the next time I get to thrift. You both do amazing work.
Aww.. thank you for watching and sharing that 💝
They all look much better now. I have one identical to the one with the wood carved out on the front lid. I’m in NC and purchased it new in the early 80’s. I have never painted it. No damage to it at all. Still use it. I had bought a potato box that matched , at the same time , but over the years must have given it away. Mine has the same stamped area on the back that appears to be a date. You guys do amazing work.
Thank you for sharing that.. i think that one was dated also maybe it said '83
@@GingerChickRehab yes it looks like 10 9 83 and it also is stamped 1ST. I find it amazing after all these years that at least two of these are still being used. I wanted to send you picture but don’t know how.
You can send pictures via my Facebook page.. yes that’s why I tape off and paint around dates and made by.. it warms my heart when I hear stories like this💕
Great work and like I said before you’ve given me so many ideas. And I do like the black and white.
OK, now we understand the bucket , hot water and cleaner 🥸. I kept wondering if Krud mutter was still in the picture - kinda thought you gave both = ratings. So you explained that tonight. Elizabeth
Oh.. good I’m glad I remembered to explain. Oh my there’s so much to explain sometimes. 🤔😀
Beautiful. Wish I had counter space for a bread box.
Aww.. thank you for sharing
I did two bread boxes for my pantry in January, using your process. I absolutely love them, but it sure was a lot of work but necessary if one wants quality. I searched for a while and had a hard time finding one because they are really popular but finally scored on FB Marketplace. I appreciate the effort you guys put into your products! The boxes are gorgeous!!!
Thank you for sharing that. Yes if redone right it will last for decades now.. 💝💖
Super finished items. I got an accordion bread box years ago when I lived in Turkey. May need to upscale it!! you gave some definite inspiration.
Aww.. thank you for sharing that
I love the bread box flipping
Thank you
Bread boxes are making a come back. I really would have a problem deciding which one I would pick.
Yes.. they seem to be. We are blessed that the sell well💝
Bravo beautiful bread boxes!
Thank you
Love how these turned out. My guess as to why they have the water damage is because they prob sat on the counter next to the sink. And if it's anything like my kitchen water always seems to get to that area
You are probably right.🤗
You make it look so easy! I have always wanted a bread box now I will definitely be on the hunt for one to make over.
Love that
Those are really nice. I keep bread in the fridge, but there are so many other things you can store in the kitchen, like tea.
Oh.. yes there is.💝
Wow...these are super....I will surely be on the lookout for a few.....ty for sharing
Thank you.. hope you find a few
You and Chris did a great job! Ready for the next video!👍🏽
Aww... thank you 🥰
You just do beautiful work! I wish I could find some bread boxes! Now I know how to redo them!
Oh.. I hope you come across some💝
You are the sweetest person, beautiful inside and out. God bless you and your family.
Aww.. thank you for your kindness Sheryl💝
Beautiful! I love all of them. Your so talented, great job.💛
Aww.. you are too kind. Thank you 💖
Just beautiful transformation
Thank you
The bread boxes all looked great!
Thank you
I never see bread boxes when I thrift but I am hoping to find one when we can yard sale again. I want to do the “GingerChick” technique to a breadbox! 💕💕
Oh.. I hope you find one soon.. even if their rough they always clean up great 🖤🤍
@@GingerChickRehab My fingers are crossed! 🤞🤞
I absolutely LOVE the work that you & your husband do ❣️❣️❣️ I live near Rockdale Illinois & we have a indoor flea market run by some wonderful people BIG JOHN’s flea market ( they have a FB page) might be worth a trip . I was just there & I seen so many things that in my head I was saying GINGERCHICK could make this beautiful again 🥰
That is awesome! If we were ones to travel...Thank you for sharing though
I remember having one growing up made of some type of metal. I would love to have one but I have no room ☹️. Love your work.

I have been looking for a breadbox like the first one for so long. I love what you have done them! ❤❤
Aww.. I hope you find one soon 💕
Love the bread boxes. Added it to my list.
Aww 💕💖💝
Found this on Pinterest. Did you ever think you might like to add some decorative molding to something like this bread box. "How to make IOD molds with clear acrylic latex caulk" it make beautiful flexible molding so you could wrap it around something circular. Just a suggestion to make those items even more beautiful.
Thanks for the tip!
They all turned out very nice 😃
Thank you
i love bread boxes and you did an amazing job
I love how much effort you put into your work !!
Aww.. thank you for noticing
