    Between is used when naming distinct, individual items. Among is used when the items are part of group or are not specifically named (must be 3 or more).

    Between is used with two nouns or specific plural nouns
    Among is used with tree nouns or general plural nouns

      Can you explain why we dont use between in this sentence ?
      There is a strong case to be made for his influence on these contemporariers ,among them are Thomas Nesne, Thomas Lodge and William shakespeare .

      @@luzdeluna6883 l know we generally use between if there are two things and we use among if there are more than two things but teacher who is in this video said that there are some exceptions for example, there are a deal between Mexico , Canada and Usa in this example although there are more than two thnigs we use between because those are spesific. Please watch all video then you wiĺl understand what l mean.

    I understand with this and I think It is easier to explain that on lists, or specific items, use between, when we talk with no lists, use among.

    Emma, I love your explanation about a lot of things but I have to pay to much attention to identify some words and differences between examples... it's something that looks like not important, but it's a important details that can bring a problem for who is learning and not always that is easy to point out! you may change the colors of words and phrases that you want to contrast of others.

    Here are a few illustrations to show that between may correctly apply to more than two in expressing mutual relation :
    But there were certain claims ...before the inheritance could be divided between the brothers(3 in number)-Sons by Pearl Buck. chapter 3, P 366.
    There should be equality among the parts (of a federal state), both between themselves and concerning outside powers-Gilchrist's Political Science. P 353.
