  • To improve your serves you have to practise. But there is a good way to practise serving and multiple bad ways. In this video I highlight multiple bad habits players have when practising serves. These include…
    1 - not enough balls
    2 - lazy stance
    3 - multiple balls in hand
    4 - serving too quickly
    5 - poor placement
    6 - no recovery
    7 - minimal effort
    Watch the video and see how many on the list you are guilty of doing!

    i'll add dont solo train multiple serves per session and dont train too long. Progress gets overwritten. For me serve training more than 30-40 minutes leads to chaos in my brain. however It is ok to train serves with coach more than an hour (combinations, 3rd ball, 5th ball etc.).

    Holy sh** . You've improved an insane amount, when compared to the start of your channel. Everything you play now looks like it's integrated and glued together.

    I find using the Fastpong system very helpful for service practise. It gives me targets, keeps track of my accuracy and makes practise more fun.

    Hi Tom. Nice video as always.
    Can I ask you how long you play your rubbers before you change? In months and in playing hours if possible. What would be your recommendation for amateurs? Thanks a lot and keep it up 👍💪

      I don't think it's on Amazon. I got mine from Bribar TT in UK: bribartt.co.uk/product/komann-magic-multi-ball-bag/?ref=8204
      And there's a review of the bag here: czcams.com/video/sMuZ9FwIMiY/video.html

    Hi. Im a noob and thats why i watch your videos. So i can learn and get better 😊 I have some questions i would love some answers to tho 🥰 i am a beginner. Played a little before but just fun. The rackets where 3stars. But no idea about speed rate etc (not my rackets) i recently joined a club and want my own so i can practice at home.
    I chose a racket and is waiting for it to arrive in the mail. But scared it may be a bad one. Tried to look for reviews about it but i cant find anything..
    I decided between Stiga Pulse Box 3-star and Royal WRB 3-Star. They where both on sale. And differed ca.20$. I went for the cheaper stiga puls 3star. Is that a good buy for a beginner? What is the different between them? (The rating are slightly different. Where puls has 65 controll and royal is 56. And puls is slightly more speedy.) But is it tho? How true is the ratings on the rackets?
    I have good reflexes (most times) and good control too (i can hit the ball where i want it to go quite well.) But i suck at spinny balls.. and want to learn that. I am also a aggressive player. More offensive than defence. (If that can be of help to help me figure out what my first racket to buy should be.)
    And dumb questions:
    And in game. is it allowed to hit the ball with a flat hand? Is it considered a win if you hit it to opponents side? (I saw a short video from a tournament where a player used his foot to get it on the opponents side but no idea if he got the point.)
    I also saw a guy in tournament hit the ball twice. But couldnt see if he got a point. Is that also allowed?

    A very good video as always
    For how much you have to practice your serve
    I heard that michael maze said that he'd practice each of his services 20 times every practice session, so if you have 5 main services you do 100 serves, 20 each serve type, cheers

    • @zelandakhniteblade5436
      @zelandakhniteblade5436 Před měsícem +2

      I have about 20-25 different serves, many times more if I add the different placements for each. That's going to be a very long session! Aside from the first point (use multiball) the video can be summed up into a single concept - practice as if serving in a real game. Not mentioned but something that should be obvious - if you use a compound racquet, make sure to twiddle appropriately when going to the ready position. This should be part of the service action automatically via muscle memory.

    • @juliuscaesar5001
      @juliuscaesar5001 Před měsícem

      @@zelandakhniteblade5436 yes but you don't have to practice them all at the same day, if I have that much serves I would like practice them in a separate session, but if you notice the top players, they don't use alot of serve variations in a single game, they use a different serve when the opponent is winning points one after another, I think having 4 or five very good serves, and then use them in a third ball drills to build strategies, cheers

    #6 will help me but I find I’m very good at my serves in practice but during a game I tend not to use my short serves because I don’t want to miss them. Maybe try only short stuff during a game till my confidents go up?

    • @TomLodziak
      @TomLodziak  Před měsícem

      Yes, you could try this approach. I would start in practice matches first. Focus on short serves and when you feel fully confident, you will be able to use short serves in league / tournament matches too.
