Very professional in a laid back, down home kinda way. Informative, hands on, presentation that people of any aptitude level can comprehend and follow. No mismatched music or unnecessary conversation thats irrelevant to the subject matter. Will be back to watch more as long as you keep it alive. Thank you .
I HAVE THIS same carburetor on an older Honda 6.5 HP lawn mower engine. YOU, sir, are the best in explaining the gasket deformity problems, cable/throttle linkage, reassembly sequence. (got this mower for free from a past owner... many botched repair changes in reassembly ! ) I have watched 10 CZcams videos by true idiot amateurs. YOURS is ... good, steady, clear camera, good explanation, good ENGLISH amigo !! I am an excellent car mechanic, but couldn't handle the one cylinder Honda carb problems until I watched this!! Contact me for your questions on 16th century Spanish history? ha ha ha..... Trevor.
I like using headless bolts for disassembly because everything stays in the correct order. Without them, when you remove the bolts, things can go everywhere before you got a chance to see what the correct order was.
I DID agree with him on reassembly for the reasons stated. I've tried both. Using studs or headless bolts for reassembly, you try to hold everything together while removing them to insert the real bolts and you really can't see if any gaskets slipped or not.
EDIT: I've found that if I install the bolt on the control plate / bracket and the short bolt on the air box (not on all models) fairly tight, they hold everything in place while I swap out the temporary studs for the actual bolts.
I love that you thoroughly explained everything. I'm a firm believer that when trying to fix stuff it really helps if you understand how it works.
Thanks for the vid - 2 yrs later your still helping folks. Bought cheap carb for yard man mower being donated to a needy family -- couldn’t figure out the gasket sequence.
Really appreciate this info on the video. I bought a used push mower with one of these carburetors and it wasn't running great. After watching your video I realized my carb components weren't even assembled properly. I ordered a new carb and gaskets and now it purrs. Thank you!
Thanks Jeremy this is excellent. Got my GCV135 up and running yesterday with a replacement carb and now it idles perfectly. Absolutely what I needed.
Jeremy I have a husqvarna with the honda GVC160 can you please tell me ware to get a gasket package it's the manual choke not the automatic one
Yeah, mine is really running fine too. I made a complete overhaul (right word? 🤔) with tank cleaning, carb cleaning, draining the oil and washing the insides with iso propyl and a general clean up. It is mfg in 2004 and aprox running for 6 years at the former owner. Since I still wait for the new gaskets and I am a VERY impatient person, I reassembled it to give it a try and it ran perfectly. Very smooth idle and aggressive on the throttle. I adjusted the valve clearance as well and the new liquid gasket did work out fine too. It was the first time doing such things and I did not watch any videos beforehand except how to open and close the valve cover so I am a little proud.
For the temporary testrun I used studs and nuts but for the final assembly later I go with Jeremy's way, I think.
Greetings
In the past I have been one of those who put in studs to place the gaskets in sequence … then remove the studs and replace with the bolts. This time I tried it your way. I agree with you it’s the best way to go and really isn’t that difficult. Thx for the video
It's nice to see someone that knows what he's doing working on a carb...just yanked a carb off to clean it and the lack of a gasket or 2 blew my mind. Good note on the atmospheric vent...my spacer was pretty clogged with debris. The float valve was also oddly not attached to the float. Not sure who had it cracked open last but....wow!
Thank you so much for making this video! I have that exact same pressure washer and I had let it sit for a long time so last year I cleaned the carb because it wouldn’t start. After I put it back together it was pouring gas out of the breather opening or somewhere around there. Sure enough when I took it apart I found that those vent ports were blocked. It runs like a scalded dog now though! Thanks again!
Thank you. Helped me out. Good explanation with no extra filler.
This is the best of video to show me how to install properly your gasket set . Thank you so much
THANK YOU I FINALLY GOT MY WASHER TO WORK FOLLOWING YOUR DIRECTIONS BRAVO
Thanks Jeremy. Well I am one of those guys that uses bolts to line up the carb gasket pile. Too each his own. But you do a lot more of these than me. I might do about 1 a week. I have learned so much from you thanks man. BTW nice tach. Mine is a laser. I liked the video
Chop sticks work good
I do the chopstick method or the bolts
This kicked my ass until I watched this video. Can’t thank you enough.
Great video when I pulled my carburetor off all the gaskets went flying didn't know where they all went. Thank you very much I got something to do tomorrow. 😁
Another great video with lots of good tips. The only bad thing is that it was not my pressure washer. Thanks for sharing.
very thorough.....just what I needed, been working on engines along time, just needed a info boost. Thanks a bunch.
Thanks for showing gasket placement.
Very nice job. I use two chop sticks or small wooden dowels to put all of the parts on and then when I put it up to the block, I pull one at a time and install the bolts. Great video, Thanks
NICE!
Where can I purchase the exact gasket kit set
Thanks. I have the same power washer and it's been apart for a few months. Getting parts needed. Parts diagram does not pin point how you showed it. Thanks again for the video.
Thanks to you, I got my pressure washer running. Great Video. Aloha
Thank you very much this was the video I needed to see. Awesome content.
Thanks for your effort making this video! finally got my mower running again and then the rear axle height adjuster got snagged and the stop/stud broke off so I now have a lowrider! If it aint one thing...
Great guide managed to sort an old shed wreck mower using the logic and great explanation
I use dowels stuck in the holes to align everything, but it's Al about what word for you! I appreciate the video, sometimes I have to think about after waiting for the parts to come in?
Was that a HIPA carb, or Honda?
Thanks for this video. The unmarked package full of different color and material gaskets was a head scratcher for me! You’re video made it easy. If only I knew my fuel hose was going to crack and crumble along the way. Working on a project to restore an inherited SDS 216 mower (I’m not sure if ever there was a filthier carb than it)
what of there's a gas leak?? whY could be the problem?
With all the videos I have watched YOURS is far Superior to then all put together. Thanks a million. By the way I am missing one leg below the knee and I had a friend help put a new carb on. (I bought the woodsplitter used) Kind of a bitch for me and I explained to my friend it was installed the same way as i bought it and it is backwards. He tried explaining something he does not know and I asked another guy and I was found to be correct. Your video also proves this. BTW before adding dielectric you can clean them battery terminals with vinegar. Then add your dielectric. Again thanks
thanks for the video! I'm about to replace the carb on my power washer, same model that you worked on lol
Thank you sir. Your tutorial was beneficial. I successfully installed a carburetor without any issues. One question however. After the engine started the water pressure on diminished. It sounded like the engine reved up and down the i lost water pressure. Released the sprayer and waited for build up then sprayed but kept losing pressure. Could you please tell me wha might be the problem?
I just did this to a lawn mower I found that the air filter box the shroud on the back side if you cut that off it exposes the carb, and is much easier to see everything and be able to make adjustments to the RPM screw possible now.jim
That might be an excellent idea. Pity these commentaries don't allow pictures. How useful would that be.
My auto choke carb is slightly different. It has plastic piece on top plus the block between the carb and head is different than the one in your video. It a spring attached to a plunger that must be a shut off or something. Any ideas about reassembly?
Excellent. Followed to put my carb, etc back on Excell 2425 pressure washer!
Thanks!
Nice job on the video sir. Needed this reference. Thank you.
thank you I took the 2 bolts out and it was over,. of course working after work half assed dark. yada yada yada.. thanks
Thank-you for the gasket info!
I thumbs-up'd this before the intro music ended. Thanks man
So happy to find this video, but it was a little too late. I took apart my carb and cleaned it totally and when reinstalling it I had lost track of the gasket sequencing. I got it okay with the help of an exploded parts diagram. However I have a problem, hope you can give me a lead: I have to manually hold the chock when pulling the recoil string and hold it until a little warm. I will not stay pulled out by itself. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.thank you.
Excellent video! Thank You
Thanks man you have saved us a lot of stress.
wow i put it in the small old ones was i ever in trouble!!!!
GOOD VIDEO Thanks Ed Loretto Ontario Canada
Thanks you had just hit nail , that is exactly what II was expecting to watch someone navigating me . On how to install back the carburetor on my . Two cycle Honda lawnmower . I made mistake the gasoline I put into the tank it was too old and had condensation so I had drained back out . But I was concerned about the gasoline inside the carburetor. Instead removing just the bolt under the cup under the carburetor I figured matter well remove the Teo long bolt’s behind the air filter cover 😩 the entire Carburetor to wash it with carburetor cleaner well . Surprise the whole carburetor collapsed I not had chance to see how was mounted special the washer spacers/ the wire and spring which control the gasoline to I’m idle so I installed back up I thought I did it right nor extra parts there after 👌😜 I put gasoline back in to the gas tank since I left completely emptied . There after I did try to give it start it didn’t ☹️ I walk away wondering what I did screw up I came after couple hours All my gasoline got drained on the floor . Now I know why .the gasket needs to be replaced. The I will worry about the springs to Idler the carburetor. I should left it alone and just remove the screw under the carburetor to finish drain cause I had the fuel lines already. Drained a lot gas with bubbles of water came out ( condensation ) 👎🏻😖
Thank you for the video, it has just helped me out!
nice video......very informative.......I had hell hooking up the pcv hose.......
Thx for the excellent video … helped me a great deal. However, after cleaning my carb and reinstalling, the mower would not start. I realized however that on my machine, the choke cable doesn’t attach to the same hole as on your machine - once I made that small correction everything was fine.
Thanks. For this video help me greatly
I make most of the carb gasket and it is easy with the right tools and a little time, most maded at kitchen table
How does the breather tube work? It goes from the air filter to a Philips screw whick blocks it off, so why is it even needed?
Thank you! This was a great help.
Thank you for the easy to follow video.
I reused the old gaskets on my Craftsman lawnmower with Honda gcv160 engine. None were swollen but they were in awful shape. Same type carb etc as in the video and my first time cleaning one but it's purring like a kitten now, it was surging pretty bad.
Thank God I bought some of those cheap little jet reamer sets on Amazon cause some of the holes in the jet were Very tiny & they were all clogged badly!
Wow !! I was on my 4th reinstall, following a lame diagram. I watched this, and bam !! That baby started like it was brand new
Awesome!
I have a HRX217HXA, is it the same one in your video?
Good information mate.
Thanks you from France! 👍👍 (I did twice because I make an inversion to connect the starter... 😅)
Thank you for great explaination
Thanks. Big help!.
Thanks for information I now no how all the gaskets go on the Honda 😀😀
Excellent video. Thanks!! I have all the parts on order and have received most of them. This video was very helpful!!
This posted at a great time, although I didn't see it earlier today. I'll tear apart my 10-20 yr old HRR216 mower again tomorrow. I ran out of patience earlier, but you gave me a new lease, since I believe when installing the gaskets, I may have got gasket grease in the air channel vents (leaking gas but with bowl removed the needle valve closes)
I bought it used and has only needed minor maintenance for the last 5 yrs, that said, while tearing apart the carb I noticed it never had the airdam installed (but has run fine for yrs) I ordered one from Amazon. What is it's purpose
I put the plastic spacer on the wrong side of the heat shield. Engine ran verrrrry uneven. This was yesterday, trying to summon the ambition to correct the problem.
Thanks for your time very nice video ...
Great video thank you
Excellent video.
Thank you. You are a pro sir.
Thank you dude.
Great video - extremely helpful! :-)
Thanks a lot, you’re the best.
That help me ally you are good teacher
Thanks helped me out.
Right on
Great thanks
Nice thank you
Great presentation. Perhaps show the gasket pic design a little longer to give us exactly the position in which to follow. The unit started up right away. Is it normal for the engine to pulsate with out water in a test?
Very good video.
I need just the gasket set…where can I purchase.
Man, something else how over the years the same part number carb has gone from what the diagrams show with more parts (adjustable and easier to clean out too) to the most simple design I've seen yet that looks like yours on a Ryobi GCV190 3100psi pressure washer with the idle down fun control. Even the gaskets have gotten to be less where is a whole gasket material air damn part to remove the two gaskets required on the metal older part and only one gasket on the air intake side. The first one of these GCV160's I cleaned the carb (found the air filter was the issue after blowing out and carb cleaning that thoroughly later) was just like the one you're doing other than that at least still had a drain plug bolt and gasket on the bowel. Something else. I got to the point you're at testing with the choke only and not running so good set on Run... so more carb work. I've yet to order a new carb and actually use since by the time they arrive I've got the og carb cleaned... though this Ryobi one has be wondering... ah... I don't use these enough or do for a living so... won't order just yet. Great video and detail as always! Thanks for sharing!
Bloody marvellous! I have this carb on an Eliet Primo shredder, second hand; looks hardly used but when I took apart the carb, one of the gaskets had slipped down (one of the bolts obviously not put through the hole!!!) blocking the full opening of the choke butterfly! Also there were what I can only describe as insect cocoons made of mud inside the carb. Couldn't get the emulsion tube out even after 20 mins in a sonic bath of water, vinegar and washing up liquid at 55°C. Now I can't find the gasket set. Two of the gaskets on mine seem to be a rubber-metal-rubber sandwich. And I don't have the metal heat deflector. Could you give links for where to buy them p!ease? Then I can put your video into practice!! (On taking off and replacing the carb a few times I've decided to use the screw-in for method you don't approve of: I think it's too easy to let one side of the gasket slip down and bugger up the full opening of the choke). Hope someone can help. Thanks in advance!
Haha just found your video after spending 2 hours experimenting.
Great video thanks
I was wondering how I was going to get the carburetor back on my pressure washer correctly. Thanks
appreciate you brother
I still find the stud method is the best, great informative video, thanks for your efforts.
Show us. I’m interested in seeing the stud method
@@THEMOWERMEDIC1 As you spoke of at 6:00min, except I had a couple of 6x1.0x100mm studs that I ground a slot in one end to fit a flathead screwdriver. I just find I'm less likely to lose my mind putting it back together that way. 😉 If I was working at a bench instead of the floor your way would be easier.
Great video and thank you for it! Could you please give me the part numbers to all 5 gaskets needed for this repair?
good explenatión.thanks
you are good teacher. good
THANKYOU, THANKYOU, THANKYOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Job well done. I have pudgy hands and fingers that represent vienna sausages so I know when working on a project as such you need to hold your mouth just right.
LOL! I was saying "I got to hold my mouth just right" as I was trying to line everything up putting the carb back on.
This was a good video a great topic I was wondering about. However the plastic block spacer I understand that the slot is at the bottom but the beveled side goes towards the engine or towards the carburetor
The beveled side of the spacer faces the engine. See 9:21. Pause and zoom in so you can see better.
THANK YOU !!!!😄😄😄
some mechanics are changing them bolts , with new ones without hex head in stead they put washers ,
100% awesome video
Great Vid! Exactly what I needed. I just picked up a used Pressure Washer with the Honda GCV160. The engine constantly hunts so I'll be cleaning the carb and need to know how it all goes back together. Thanks!!
You are the best how to get gasket kit?
I did a honda carb clean last nite and the back plate kept falling down very small hands space especially with my fat fingers lol
Wher can I by the gasket kit?
Cool
