The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Interestingly, this segment with the Blue Comets (they performed two songs, the other will likely show up here eventually) was only shown during a re-run of the December 3, 1967 episode shown during the summer of 1968. They replaced a segment featuring the 1967 All American Offensive Football Team (which had become dated by the time the episode was aired again). This procedure was repeated a few times during the show's run to make it seem more current. Thus, I have no idea when this segment was actually filmed in 1968 but an expert on the group might know.
Great to see you Tom! I'm looking forward to the next song by Blue Comets.
@@GuppyCzar It's good to see you too, Michael! Hope you are doing well!
Real live music performed at volume. As it should be. Not exactly a lyrical masterpiece, but a rockin tune.
Damn, that’s Really good
Silly but awesome ❤❤❤
WOW!!! Really took me by surprise. I love when that happens.
They opened for the Beatles in Japan
Wow, that was and interesting and new sound! 😄
Too short! Play it again!
Musically impressive. What were the lyrics again? 🙂
Their major hit "Blue Eyes" is on youtube. Give it a listen.
Japanese call score“Tadpole”We amiable Japanese folklore music some time out tadpole’s pond even listen disonance for American.
❤
🥸🩺: Alright. If you would just open your mouth and say *Ah*
Blue Comets:
In fact, they sing falsely. But the instrumental solos are played richly.
Yo…. This is SIIIIIIIICCCCCCCK!!!!!!! 😖😖😖😖😖😖😖🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
Heavily influenced by the Ventures and Dick Dale's surf music
MORE ENTERTAINING THAN THE BEATLES, AND FAR BETTER
INSTRUMENTALISTS, TO BE SURE.👏👍😊
『越天楽』
Lol ... I think I prefer the Kim Sisters. 😂
Umm, I really don't know what to think about this kind of music ! Would the word "awkward" be appropriate ?
basically a novelty act...that Sullivan very often showcased which amplified the social norms....though they lasted thankfully only a short period....of time
Dick Dale is better
AHHHHHHH, what did I just watch? Another stinker and I don't recall another time that I've watched two consecutive bombs on this channel. This would definitely make it into an hour version of worst Sullivan acts.
