I just upgraded mine yesterday, since it somehow died ( the HDD ) now it runs silky smooth!
    Before:
    4GB RAM
1 TB HDD ( this thing is trash, slow af )
    After:
    16 GB RAM (Sandisk )
    250 GB SSD ( Samsung 970 Evo Plus )
now my only problem is the heat, you can cook eggs from this unit during heavy tasks.

hey just a question do you play on this laptop? What games do you play? And how much fps do you usually get?

I play on it since I had to sell my 6700K desktop rig. I play usualy ghost Recon Wildlands. I can get up to mid 60's in FPS but GRW can dip down to mid 30's in intensive areas, such as El Commandante mission. For gaming I use resolution of 1366x768 and I capped the framerate via msi Afterburner/Riva Tuner statistics server to 40 FPS. That way i don't get wild FPS oscilations, and so far, 40 FPS looks decent for laptop, i get used to it in about one hour of gameplay. I conected it to LG 1080p IPS flicker free monitor, since my model came with crap TN panel, and frankly...moving from IPS to TN is a terrible downgrade. Ocasionally I hook it up to my 80cm LCD tv. I also upgraded to 16 GB of ram, plus there was an issue (or better say feature) called hybrid Power. Basically it's AC charger cant provide enough juice to sustain GPU so it drains battery while gaming even if you plug it in chatger. I fixed it by means of undervolting GPU, and now it's not draining battery anymore. unfortunately all major manufacturers are using this hybrid scheme, so undervolting is a must to do. You can look at another video on my channel I uploaded tutorial how to undervolt GPU and CPU.
Also I had problems with bottom SO DIMM memory slot. It seems like slot doesnt secure ram module good enough so when moving laptop or any greater shock it would freeze immediately. So i put little bit of sponge between chasis and motherboard, that sponge exert pressure on ram module so it can not move or wiggle, and it's ok now. Probably factory defect, but I managed to fix it.
      Have a nice day =)

Sorry,Did you see NVME option in BIOS?
I used HwiNFO and didn't see an empty PCIE slot,is it support PCIE Gen3x4?
Asus tell me they just test M.2 SATA SSD
    I wanna update SSD recently,thanks.

Yes it had Gen 3 X4 / SATA hybrid slot. Bios recognised the drive as NVME. I just had to initialize the drive in windows since i had OS on SATA HDD already

@@Antonio-mu3rxCan you use HWnifo to check if use pcie SSD will show the third PCI Express root port?now I only have two.
I afraid that use pice SSD will use same pcie port with graphic cards.
Sorry for my bad English 😢

@@yuchihung2580 no I can't. I sold the laptop in 2022. but i remember that 1050 4gb uses 4 pcie lanes which is not problem for that class of gpu power, and nvme slot uses dedicated its own pcie x2 connection without canibalizing gpu pcie lanes

    • @Antonio-mu3rx
      @Antonio-mu3rx  Před 5 lety +2

Yap. It would be fine. You may want to undervolt it's GTX 1050 GPU. I discovered that it drains battery when gaming on default factory voltage. I have another video covering that problem.
