In Lament of the Fallen, she lost someone dear to her again. And even with all her power, could do nothing yet again. This would be the last time she lost someone.
In Shattered Samsara, she nearly lost something dear to her yet again. And this time, she ordered Fate to give back what she lost. and fate obliged.
In Everlasting Flame, Kiana looked at all she stood to lose. And she said no. And she fought for her friends, for her loved ones. She fought for all that was beautiful in the world. And she won.

Everlasting Flames is the Triumphant Mirror of Final Lesson.
The fact that 3 Voice Actors of the characters sing it, and actually cried while recording it, just shows how much they are invested in this project. Absolute banger of a song. Respect for MiHoyo for keep giving us good OSTs. Everlasting Flames is best what MiHoyo ever produced in my opinion.

I think every vocal song is Honkai is good. But if we were to narrow it down, then I agree with you. Personally I would add oracle and nightglow.

What do you mean ? None of the singers is her voice actress. The singers are Chalili, Tetracalyx and Hanser. Her VAs are Rie Kugimiya and Dian Tao. Or did i misunderstand what you said ?

Everlasting flames never fails to make me cry like a baby. That moment when Himeko shows herself to Kiana one final time feels like Kiana has finally found closure with Himeko's death.
They three performing this live at the end of the first concert knowing they are their VAs hits sooooooo hard
I've read that during their record of the song, the CN VAs really struggled to hold their tears back because of how emotional it was...

this song and its accompanying animation is the peak of the story in honkai. as we transition to another ark, and into the APHO stories i dont think they will ever resonate as much as kiana's story did for both us the fans and the creators.
mihoyo has loved kiana since their first game all the way back, and she has been the protagonist in the other entries as well, this is her story that she makes right, that doesnt end in pure tragedy.

At the end of apho 1 it really hit me but I guess it more so hit me because of ptsd and reminded me of himeko from Adam(apho protag) just breaking the barriers of his sword to go honkai critical just so that he could save mei but then it hit me more when we just see him all graying and all the honkai around his neck and just him holding mei after he defeated the "world" enemy. And then chap 1 just fading to black and hearing Carole trying not to cry and trying to bring back the both of them and protecting them from the onslaught of sky people that were coming.
@@everettjoseph6189 of course everyone has their own places and moments that make them love honkai, but i feel as if the company put their all into this moment, and the song is one of their best, yet one of their most simple
Moon Halo represents Kiana finally relying on her friends to overcome the impossible. She always tried to stand alone in front of adversaries always fighting on her own because she doesn't want anybody else to hurt because of that. But she learnt that not everything can be solved by one person.
In other stories power of friendship is cringe but in honkai power of friendship is deserved after everything they went through together
Every single one of HI3's animations are special... but being Kiana is ultimately the protagonist (while Bronya and Mei are for the most part deuteragonists), there's just something extra special about Everlasting Flames. This one closes out the arc in which Kiana undergoes her most significant character growth, growth necessary for what ultimately happens in Graduation Trip. Plus, while she ultimately has to say goodbye to Himeko, she still lives on inside of Kiana - and that is so apparent from Everlasting Flames and the Herrscher of Flamescion suit. Honestly, you should watch Final Lesson and Everlasting Flames together - just about everything Kiana does, and even the things she says, in Everlasting Flames are the things that Himeko said to Kiana in Final Lesson. Two years later and this one still hits the feels.
I think letting go of Himeko is the most important part (and lesson) of this arc because it's been weighing so much on Kiana's soul (and players' as well tbh) for so long. Everyone needed closure so badly so no wonder it still hits so hard.

Kiana fighting in _Everlasting Flames_ directly reflects Himeko fighting in _Final Lesson_ . In addition, some of the lyrics in _Moon-Halo_ , which also became an anthem for players, answer lyrics from previous songs. As Kiana truly becomes the Flame Scion, a whole story arc truly comes to a close.
The Legion Herrscher of Domination that Kiana fights is a personification of depression. Not only is it very pervasive, but it is also relentless, throwing wave after wave of dark thoughts and impulses at those who have it. Only with friends and family to support you can you hope to pull through, by being even more relentless, and yet open and flexible, than the depression itself. And yet, it is always with you after, waiting for you to slip up. Fighting depression isn't a one-off, it's a process, and you have to be okay with that or you can't keep winning.
No matter how many times I listen to this series of songs, I always get choked up. Friggin' Pavlov's Tears. Hoyo has me trained to cry on command...

This song has a very special place in my heart. Moon Halo became the inspiratiin of my eulogy to my late grandfather whom I loved so much in which I never seen for 26 years and still to this day I miss him terribly. It goes to show Honkai's relatability is truly profound and impactful.

What absolutely breathtaking composition, I love how you can INSTANTLY feel the story from it, you don't need to know anything at all about the game or the world this piece comes from, you can hear the story in the movement of the song.

Everlasting Flame is my favorite animation to come from Honkai Impact 3rd. This animation coupled with the scene directly prior where Kiana says her final farewell to Himeko always makes me tear up. Kiana has had so much character growth throughout the series and this is where she really "graduates" to become a more mature adult.
Fun Fact: This song was sung by the voice actors for Kiana, Mei, and Bronya
A year ago I finally managed to play this entire arc in around one sitting. While I had braced myself for the waterworks that veteran players tend to joke about and had already heard this song out of context, finally experiencing this piece at this point of the game was such a powerful emotional catharsis that made me respect all the love and strong shared feelings Everlasting Flames & Moon Halo have been experienced by so many people. Such beautifully written lyrics.
Those feelings are real. The voice actors (especially CN Kiana’s & Himeko’s) felt it, the singers did as well, the very first audience who watched the released animation live shed tears at the Bilibili expo it aired felt it (you can find footage of them wiping their tears and cheering when it aired), a fan who was at the hospital wrote to the writers their gratitude to allowing this anthem of hope triumphing loss and despair to exist as they faced their own. It’s such a powerful ballad to hope and crystalizes the core message of HI3’s “fighting for all the beauty in this world”.
Weeks earlier before playing this arc, I had suddenly lost an artist friend from college I looked up to, a high fever burned his brilliant life away. I did what I could to hold a brave front in honor of the legacy this friend left for me and our college friends who were inspired to do their best work with the support of someone like him. Honkai’s characters have all faced losses of some sort and it has shaped them to choose different things they value due to it and thus drives what they do next and that’s probably why I could connect with them. Enter this moment. I didn’t expect how much this story and this song would become very healing at a time I likely needed to hear it the most.
It helps that shortly before this sequence plays out, the Honkai writers managed to actually make me let loose my tears of suppressed grief when Kiana gets to meet with a certain someone she looked up to and who simply said “saying goodbye to the past is the first step towards the future” on top of other several, beautifully healing words before Kiana makes her triumphant victory against the Legion Herrscherr who thrived off despair. A beautiful story of moving on. What a triumphant climax to this story arc.
The way this song calls back to that phrase as well as other meaningful moments from previous songs as this highlight of Kiana’s journey works so well because of what was set before it. I love it when video game music gets to do this to allow a key moment to soar higher and let it all out. Thank you for finally reacting to this, Marco!

This song marks the end of Kiana’s journey and the day we say goodbye to Himeko for good. It’s fulfilling and inspiring but sad at the same time.

The song is special and became even more when the war started. Even though we call it a depression, for me it feels more like hope - you finally accept state of things no matter how bad they're and just continue striving to the better place. Don't really believe I'll be able to survive till the end. And yet, thanks to the stories of honkai and pgr, there's still a hope that maybe, just maybe it won't be worthless. I might be the highest price we will ever pay. And yet...

The pain and happiness that emanates from Moon Halo is tied to both Kiana's journey and our journey with her as the Captain. It's doubly reinforced by the echoing of past songs, being a reply and succession to all the pleas and hopes that Honkai World Diva, Starfall, Nightglow, and Rubia contain, and therein all the emotion that Mei, HImeko, Fu Hua and Kiana show towards Kiana's duty as a Valkyrie. It is a resolution to all her loved ones that she will be the Moon to guide those in this dark night, that she will never leave Himeko behind, that she will find a better future for Fu Hua, and to turn Mei's lament into a carol. This statement of duty is different from her previous resolutions that were fueled by depression and the seeming need of self sacrifice, it's fueled by a want to preserve the happiness and joy, what little there might be left in this nearly broken world. The lyrics echoing past songs hits doubly hard as the animation doubles that of Himeko in Final Lesson, and by the end of the first part of the story, it's showcased that Kiana knows that this resolution might not end in precisely the same way, but it will also echo that of Himeko's end.
You cannot believe the amount of tears shed by the fandom when the story update for this dropped, throughout the game you witness all of kiana's trials and tribulations and this felt like such a triumphant moment, like all the suffering she's been through has made her such a beautifully strong person. I started getting goosebumps when i realized the singers for this song were all singers for the individual character songs for her friends too so you could really feel that all of kiana's friends stood behind her

Ah hell ive watched/listened to this easily over a 100 times and it still makes me tear up but that goes to show how powerful and beautiful this song is.
Holy shit, that was bleak. I wandered in with zero context and could immediately feel the sadness... which was before you showed us the video. I didn't have to understand any of the words to know just how depressing that was. Very emotional and intense video. Now if you will excuse me, I'm going to go cry.

A game ended up giving characters infinitely more character development in a beautiful and fulfilling way, Honkai Impact is so beautiful, not because its visually pleasing, but the story blloms like a beautiful flower that you have invested so much time into, it makes it satisfying to see, I would argue this story is better that 90% of anime and I would not complain if Honkai Impact was adapted into a full fledged anime with minimal changes to the story.
This song and Animation is just hope for me. In 2020-2021 was the most depressing year for me welp for most of people too i think... Everyday there's always a suicidal thoughts and self depreciation. Im still in college and my paper meet bottleneck... Frustrated... I start to smoking... But it lead to even depression... Until this animation short come. It like speak to me personally the lyric... The dialogue in the animation gave me strength to rise back and finish it all... Giving up isnt an option, afterall... Im an Idiot and an idiot... Never give up

The magic of Honkai Impact, is that you can see this scene, or other like Final Lesson, alone without knowing ANYTHING about the HI story, and you will connect with the characters and their feelings the same that if you know it.
When you see Everlasting Flames, or heard Moon Halo, after knowing Final Lesson, Lament of the Fallen and Shattered Samsara, your feelings simply collapse and explode.
Imagine the ones that played the history from the begining, and reach this scene for the first time...
Idk if you noticed, but starting 8:22, Kianna's fight against HoD started mirroring Himeko's fight with HoV. From Kianna reiterating Himeko's line before she started finally attacking, to after her transformation to HoFS where her "meteor strike" also mirrored Himeko's
So it really was as if Himeko was reborn through Kianna in this moment 🥲

This July this song will be 2 years old. No matter how many times I watch, I always burst into tears. I've pretty much played this game since global launch I've been with Kiana since the beginning, to watch her grow into who she was when this launched, brought tears to my eyes. May all the Beauty be Blessed.
This part of the story still gets me sometimes yet it also gives me hope, couse that's what this is about as well, as the patch title of when this released was name: Inherit the Flame. It fits SO well with everything else it warms the heart.
It always feels good to see our tuna grow up. The fullness in my heart is so overwhelming.
This game music is just incredible. As someone who hasn't really felt the pain of losing someone close to me, It still made me feel loads of emotions. And that is because, music can be a way to communicate in a way. Even if i didn't understood every of the lyrics of the song, there was still that message that was conveyed and that reached to my heart. That is what i call a masterpiece in Video game music.
Finally, I've been waiting for this ever since I found your channel, now you see why this song was sooo requested. It actually resonates with a lot of people, especially those who've played the game foor a long time, it's like the conclusion of her character development arc, and even though Da Capo is the end of part 1 Moon Halo is the culmination of everything that happened to Kiana thus far.
My favorite part of th son is actually one that you didn't mention, "A shoulder for the past let out the cries imprisioned for so long", I think we all need that sometimes.
