    Feel like rts games have this issue where most of the big narrative moments are moments you have to play through which in an rts game, that means doing this long 30 minute chess match in a nutshell. It's not like Ace Combat where you can have narrative stages like the Arcbird. You need a track that can run on repeat for an hour. I mean I didn't really like this remix either bit I think your criticism applies to the original and just about every rts ost out there imo.

    To be perfectly honest, I don't really care much if you're highlighting the goods or explaining the bads of music, as long as I LEARN something while you do it. What I liked the most when I discovered this channel was how you managed to talk about music in a professional manner, while staying at a level at which I could understand what you were talking about. The information bitten in smaller pieces, it made an incredible journey where each video I'd learn about some new concept, some new word, like "why does this piece make you evoque these emotions? because of this harmony here" and stuff like that. THAT's the content I'm in for the most. If you feel like a music is doing good, and you explain in your words why it feels good to you, that's fantastic. And if you found a piece where you didn't feel as convinced by something, and you explain why that is, how it compares to other similar alternatives, then that's great too! For me, the priority is that you're respectful and show insight about facts, even if it's not perfect or your opinions don't align with mine, as long as you keep doing videos that you genuinely enjoy making, I'm gonna stay a faithful fan that also genuinely enjoy your work.

  • @Ericunoo
    @Ericunoo Před 14 hodinami

    Man I'm going to be honest, every single review I've seen from you is awesome, I feel the emotions from the music when you describe them and I, being a music lover, enjoy this so much, I didn't even realize that certain melodies represented not only feelings, but scenes, or depicted histories, only by how they're composed and that's something I learned from your videos. Now, NEGATIVE opinions about songs? Sure why not, everything is useful and it's good to know why something is good or bad, why we feel it that way, explain what we sometimes can't perceive or explain is always great, some fans might not like the criticism but it is what it is, as long as it's explained why something is "good" or "bad" then it shouldn't be any problem. Finally and I know no one asked but If I had to rate this channel I'd give it a 85+, can get better but it's cool as it is now, love the content.

  • @brakthalas
    @brakthalas Před 15 hodinami

    Your "why" is the most enjoyable part, being positive or negative doesn't matter to me. If anything you could always do a part at the end of the video where you are more critical so anyone that doesn't want that can stop before it.

    I find it kinda sad you picked this track of all of the ones you could have from the C&C library, while I don't dislike it it is not my favorite and it is mostly for the same reasons I just never cared for the repetitive talking bits in either this nor the original even though they are moments from the game put into the song. I would have suggested 100% reacting to Act On Instinct or Target/Mechanical Man the New digital Remastered Versions actually done by Frank Klepacki for the game not the recorded versions if you ever revisit this. Thanks for covering Frank's music it was basically my childhood and I hope your dislike of this one song does not dissuade you form looking any further into his music.

    Yeah, I'd say keep doing what you're doing, but also would not at all mind hearing your opinion on music as well. More importantly, though, and I can't stress this enough: You have nothing to apologize for.

  • @hijodelsoldeoriente
    @hijodelsoldeoriente Před 15 hodinami

    First of all, you don't need to apologize. People on the internet often forget that youtubers are just ordinary people. With that being said, I think a great way to approach it is to state your personal preferences and musical elements such as genres or sub genres that you don't personally like when reviewing a piece so that us as a viewer could better understand your point of view. And then proceed with your unfiltered opinion including your personal biases. Remember, this is your channel and it's your personal view in video game music that we're here for. I don't want you to pander to our biases. For instance, if I like a certain piece of music but you don't, say it and then explain why including your personal preferences and reasoning.

  • @Darkcool123X
    @Darkcool123X Před 16 hodinami

    I personally prefer more positive than negative but I do enjoy some negative points about a piece. like 80%/20% or something. I see it as: this is why this piece is great, but here's the one part that could have made it even better. It also helps the viewers learn about what kinds of problems can be found in different pieces. After all no one can progress if they never face constructive criticism, thats how you learn and strive to do better.

  • @leucis8248
    @leucis8248 Před 16 hodinami

    I think a great way to do this would be to first give that initial reaction and then dive back in and be more analytical. Look at Corridor Digital for example and how they do their reactions to Great and Bad VFX in movies. I would personally be more interested in the more in-depth, analytical explanations as music is a hobby of mine and this kind of structure would appeal to both the casual viewer and the person trying to learn something. This would also make it so if you DO end up having a very strong negative first reaction, you can then be constructive as to what caused that reaction, which should counter the feeling of "oh he's just shitting on it".

    Massive respect to you Marco. Platforms like CZcams do VG scores and tracking dirty. I can't imagine how one would go about discovering potentially renowned pieces with less popular game titles. Everyone knows Sonic, Mario, NieR, Souls, etc, but it's too common that scores from Suikoden, Ys, Ar Tonelico, .hack never reach the ears of people that could become the biggest fan of their generation.

    I just managed to defeat this mighty warrior (in Hirata) the other day, and it was one hell of a battle. It's perhaps the one fight in Sekiro where I've died the most times. But where I've enjoyed overcoming the harshness of the fight the most. That first phase... and then how he ramps it up on the second phase when he truly goes all out and unleashes all his mastery as a shinobi. I kid you not, when the music of the second phase starts with that spine-chilling crescendo as the Owl declares he is going to show us the "true power of the Owl"... I got goosebumps. And he made good on his threat. What a brutal second phase! PD: This game I only play it with the original Japanese voices. No disrespect to the English VAs, but the English voice of the Owl just does not convey the same... aged power, the same ruthlessness as Takaya Hashi's performance.

Dancing with Source is haunting and makes you want to check over your shoulder (Oud is my preferred version), Sing For Me is set beautifully in the story (Lohse comes out victorious against the BBEG for her story and starts singing this), Mead, Gold, and Blood is makes you tense up for a fight, knowing you're strong but it's going to be close.

  • @caylenrudd7699
    @caylenrudd7699 Před 17 hodinami

    I'm of two minds about the negative opinions. On the one hand, if you are really just talking about the piece as a whole, a more full review is informative and constructive. I think this is most helpful when you are taking suggestions and requests or likely to purposely engage with music you haven't fully selected (like Patreon/Member requests etc) because you are possibly listening to something that just might not be your thing or might just strike you in a negative way. But on the other hand, I think it's a good thing to bring positivity to these sorts of artistic spaces (I enjoy the channel Cinema Wins for example, because they chose to bring a positive first approach to general film reviews) because these spaces can sometimes become overwhelmed with negativity and it's always nice to have a positive space to come to. But I think this works best when you are the one curating the materials you are going over since you can select for things you feel really positive about, because ultimately I think honesty is the most important part of any sort of art criticism/review, and I don't think it would be fun for you to have to force yourself to be positive about something you don't feel that way towards. So I'm not really sure which I would prefer, necessarily, but I think there are plus sides to both.

  • @cutietron3630

    Darling, i haven't really watched all the videos, i am for the specific titles here. But just as my art mentor says: "what we don't like or even hate gives us more creative energy!" Feelings aren't meant to be an insult. It's a reaction. It's driven with energy. When you understand what you don't like, you feel this emotion's strenght. You can use it! For the research why you don't like it, for making truly different art. I personally think, if you say that that particularly thing isn't cool, or the whole piece isn't working for you - it's 100% okay. You don't have to apology for the art making you feel some way. I believe you decided to make such video because you are veeery kind ❤ Hope people here are concious enough to start thinking more then black/white sides of people and see their personalities. That's the greatest life experience - being able to create something from what is said to be destructive. Because it's not.

    Marco, your responses to these comments is spot on. Not degrading to the original posters, and I believe in fact elevates them. Not everybody is going to agree, and that is ok. In fact, it is a GOOD thing. Through challenging our own beliefs we can either validate them by contemplating something else that contradicts, or realize we made a mistake and learn from it. It's like we're all individual people with individual beliefs, opinions, experiences, and that by sharing them with one another we grow together.
