I started intermediate fasting July31, 2020 @ 285lbs 6'1", I weigh myself once a week usually on a Monday. Sept 7th I weighed 257lbs. My year end goal is to be 220lbs at 50th birthday. I may shoot for 205 next year as it's what I weighed a long time a go out of the military and I feel its my ideal body weight. I do the 16/8 but often its more like 18/6, 10pm to 2pm is my fasting time (eating window is 2pm to 10pm). I work nights a lot so I'm just not eating at work and go straight to bed when I get home. I've cut out carbs (breads and white potatoes, very little fruit), unsweet almond milk in oatmeal (use cinnamon, honey, walnuts) maybe once a week. Lots of salads with (cheese, boiled egg, almonds, carrots, bits, balsamic vinegar), sweet potatoes, chicken, steak, broccoli, cabbage, stew (without potatoes), cheese, eggs, bacon. Pretty much anything no carb. I drink only water, black coffee, unsweet tea.
The second week in I started drinking apple cider vinegar before bed and when I get up also. Recipe:1 cup of water,1 table spoon of acv, 1 table spoon of lemon juice. Use a straw and drink it toward the back of your mouth so the acids don't go over your teeth and hurt your enamel.
I walk a couple days a week and do pushups, planks, leg lifts most days. The weight is just falling off, I'm never going back to my old unhealthy lifestyle.

I woke up after my first 36 hour fast, made a cup of coffee and watching more on fasting. I feel great. My next fast will be 3 days. My mood was elevated. I had moments of hunger, but water and tiny sprinkles of sea salt helped. Next time just water. It's free, and such benefits. I have never fasted to lose weight or for some specific health difficulty, but have fasted extensively over 25 years, the last two being 40 days, water only...these all done here in Costa Rica within my jungle preserve. Alright, that makes a lot of sense! To be honest, I am someone who's chosen by the Kundalin energy, the divine energy of life! And anyone who's come to the point of being able to experience the kundalini every night is blessed by the heavens above. Kundalini Energy always chooses the most humble souls. That's why humility is the greatest virtue of life, because it opens the door to spiritual transformation. Gratitude is also a great virtue by the way.
      Question though:
Did you withdraw yourself from society on any of these 2 occasions?

Initially motivated because I realized I was insulin resistant and reading about fasting really got me into feeling that after more than 20 years of going on diets loosing and gaining weight again and again I finally found what I needed to get back on track with my health. I just can't understand why this does not get world wide spread, now more than ever than even kids are getting sick from covid because the obesity epidemic that all the process carbohydrates and foods have managed to introduce into this side of the world. Also I have opened my eyes to fructose... The longer I have fasted is four days, but now I realized that I should not drink coffee... and I have .. so I will try to change that in my next fast. Very good to hear that fasting is very beneficial.

It must be clarified that repeating a day routine for a reasonable time is not recommended by specialists in the field. The body is so amazingly clever, that it adapts to a repeated behaviour and makes the short cut AGAIN. One should have flexible eating habits and try to cheat the clever body.
The same is applied to the gym and physical training, being not expected by the clever body and changing routines every now and then.

From our studies according to the Buchinger Wilhelmi Programme, we know that people normally feel rather energetic while fasting. Intermittent fasting is how not to be tired when intermittent fasting. Truly, after your first successful three day fast you'll have so much autophagy going on when you re-feed you'll be bursting with fresh mitochondria. Add a few cold showers and some exercise in and you'll be flying.

I’m trying out fasting but want to do a longer one. I usually take a version of ritalin / methylphenidate during the work day to help me focus a bit (ADHD) but I’ve found that these pills are not as effective as they used to be say 10 years ago (I usually take a 2 or 3 week break from the pills once a year). So I’m thinking that if I try to do a longer fast this time I should also stop taking methylphenidate (it’s a stimulant like coffee) and then maybe after a week long fast when I get back into the work routine I would find them to be more effective again. I’ll update this comment if it works :)

    • @dinnerwithkirill6257
      @dinnerwithkirill6257 Před 3 lety +1

Celery has the highest amount of natural nitrate salts. As you know they use nitrates to preserve bacon, ham, etc. Not many people know that celery increases blood pressure. Not in everyone but in many. It may make your heart pound a lot and you will not be able to sleep after many days of fasting. Just be aware. For electrolytes there is a perfect both for fasting, look up Bieler broth recipe, just strain the veggies.

I haven’t done A1c for so long because my doctor Always says your blood sugar is excellent. The second day I did OMD at 23h was 1 07 which is high for me , the day I don’t do OMD I do only 14 or 16 h the blood sugar is 89 or 93 maximum. If I eat 3 times it is 86 or 88. What is your advise? Do you take any supplements during your fast? Consider taking some while not eating, especially *biotin* for your hair. Maybe you have some toxins stored in your hair & scalp and the fast is purging those toxins. Has your hair returned? Another thought: if you have access to a sauna, use that daily to help your body detoxify. Wash with Castile soap afterwards so you don’t reabsorb toxins (re: dr. Rhonda Patrick’s discussion about detoxification via sauna).

The medicine companies know that good marketing is to tell us "ask your dr. about.." Because then the Dr. will have to read up on the drug. So even if we've done our research and we go to the Dr. anyway we should pretend we don't know and ask lol. So maybe they will start doing research on fasting if they haven't already.
