We adopted a lab/golden mix in the summer of 2017. He came with a mixed bag of health issues including severe excessive shedding and itchy skin due to environmental allergies. I started making him a homemade diet which helped but the shedding was still a lot. A couple of months ago I switched him again to a raw diet and that finally slowed it down to a minimum. He is now shiny and smooth! No more constant scratching! He is a lot more comfortable now. :)

I tried the coconut oil and water mix. I sprayed my husky/ shep mix and then brushed her after it set for about 10 min. Then I zoom groomed her. A lot of the undercoat and top coat released. Then after when it did fall out by and by on its own, it was dropping in loose groups of fur. So much better than before. She used to walk by the chair and it would literally fall of her and go sideways to our fabric chair. Now not so much.

Put down the Furminator😊 That tool will have you brushing until the cows come home! 🤪
Deshedding is done in the bath. Wash your dog. Preferably water/soap to dry hair, so soap clings to the hair, really grabbing that dirt, dander and hair. Give a good scrub!Leave in 3-4mins. Rinse really thoroughly! Next condition the coat well. With this in, use the correct brush (slicker) and gently but firmly (aware not to press into their skin), and brush out that hair. You will be brushing out gobs, so have a bin nearby. Use a comb and work it through the slick coat (dense coat just use slicker). Leave on for 5 mins. Rinse really thoroughly. No joke. Thoroughly.
Using an absorbing towel, dry the coat. Take dog out of tub and use a high velocity dryer and blow out the coat, one area at a time, while brushing. You got out most of the hair on the tub, so shouldn't have a hair tornado, but hair will fly (bee keepers hats/nets are handy). That's it. Best ever, fastest deshed! ❤

@DrJones I would love to have links to the products you use. I realize that they are easy to find, but the thing is I personally live in Costa Rica. It gets a bit complicated when I don't see the characteristics of the products that you're using. So I am not going to order molasses from the US, for example. I am, however, going to translate that to "melaza" and try to find it here. I find "melaza" (which is what I think you're using) where people buy cattle and horse feed or if I'm lucky, where they sell fertilizer, soil and plants. I just think it would be a good idea. Maybe even have an affiliate link (or store) with Amazon along with your site. Anyway, thank you very much for your videos. I am a huge fan. Saludos desde Costa Rica. 😘🇨🇷

It's in the baking section at my grocery store in the US. It's made from sugarcanes. In the US you will not find molasses by cattle feed, fertilizer, plants, or soil. That is because it is considered a food product. I understand stores in your country may be setup differently. Molasses is used in baking usually as a healthier sugar/sweetener replacement. Molasses cookies are awesome!
