I grew up believing in Goddess Saraswathi... now I realize there are two of them !!!
This is a tribute to Saint Thyagaraja and also a proud moment for Illyaraja sir and Chitramma.
How is it proud when they butchered the song? Also morphed it. Such an avahelana.
For many pamara jana like me , it’s a bliss to hear. If they butchered it …it is for panditha loka to question . For me when they were rendering Pallavi …the bhakti bhava is at its peak and one can c and listen …Particularly @karuna tho dhruvuni keduta…actually with the heart.
@@narayanasastry8055 I agree but it doesn’t take a panditha to understand what they said in the beginning. Soooo many singers doomed because of the show of overconfidence and over smarts.

MAESTRO ILAYARAJA's music ALSO does what you claim of Haridas's success! His music is adored by that illiterate person sitting in the corner in a remote village as much as it is adored by the likes of RaGa, Sikkil Gurucharan etc. Thyagarajar would be mighty PROUD if he had been alive (given he lead a humble life)! It takes (ONLY) an ILAYARAJA to change Mari mari ninne and present it convincingly in Saramathi! Why be a self-proclaimed "purist" for the sake of it?! Y'all should instead try to compose "something" instead of being a proud keyboard warrior and pelting stones at the SKY called ILAYARAJA!
@@BC999 I am not doing that to Ilaya . He is composing for films not for god so far. When he did on one song he started showing his teeth/horns. I was talking about the singers who otherwise sang very well but no need to diminish thyagaraja swamy by singing a composition made made by film fraternity. They sing for money at the end of the day and cannot be comparable even near to Thyagaraja. This is my humble opinion.
Definitely, in all these cinema songs - components such as lyrics, vocals, sound quality, performing artists, instrumental accompaniment, visual elements, context, and ambiance can be changed. Yet, the essence of the tune, the pulse of the rhythm, and the spark of creativity are the unique contributions of Ilaiyaraaja Sir. He claims royalties for these creations. How can that be wrong? He is not a greedy person; rather, he seeks to support and protect all the music artists in his troupe who are not receiving sufficient opportunities due to advancing technologies.

Well-presented by the sisters. ICONIC song that made history! The album that got MAESTRO Ilayaraja his second National Award (highly-deserved), and Chitra, her first. Thyagarajar would have been mighty PROUD if he had heard this song. IR took the lyrics of Mari mari ninne (originally in Kambhoji) and presented it, convincingly, in Saramathi.
Sure thyagaraja would have been much proud for letting IR stealing his music and not letting pay the royalty, while IR is whining for every sound he produced(sorry copied) and looking for anyone using it for their advertisement .

The backdrop of the raging controversy stoked by yet another carnatic musician perhaps for promoting himself in the public memory, this indeed is a great effort to reach classical carnatic music to the farthest nook and corner of patties and thotties.. maestro Ilayaraja has rightly done it and the RaGa sisters have really risen much above the rest in the music world to bring out this Sangamam of cinema and carnatic music. You don't have to wear a lungi and portray yourself in the beach front to promote carnatic music to the masses.
