- Richard Karn played Al Borland on the ABC TV show, Home Improvement, from 1991 through 1999. In this video, I discuss Karn's career leading up to his landing that role, as well as what he's b een up to since Home Improvement went off the air. Thanks for watching! #richarkarn #alborland #homeimprovement

I loved Richard Karn on Home Improvement. He was great as Tim Allen's sidekick. He played Al Borland to perfection. I think everyone had an Al Borland in their lives at some point. I always looked forward to Home Improvement and Al as well as all of the other characters were well-rounded and relatable characters and I can't believe it has been off the air for over 20 years! Thanks for the memories, Stephen!
Thanks Mac!
Home Improvement was great!!! It's good to know that Richard is still doing well!!! 👍👍🙂
Yeah, from everything I can tell, it looks like he's doing great!
Over the years I’ve seen him here and there, but nothing as consistent as Home Improvement. It’s nice he’s doing well for himself.
Agreed! Thanks Jared!
He is a fraud, he has one price on the tv but you order the product they charge for double the price that is rubbery
A great and informative presentation as always Stephen. Thanks very much.
Thanks Jonathan!
My family and I loved Home Improvement but it's pretty funny in retrospect how Al Borland was supposed to be a second fiddle to Tim "The Toolman" Taylor, but he was actually a pretty cool and likable person, and Richard Karn totally made the role his own. Nice to hear that Karn and Tim Allen are still very close after all these years. Talking about the power of sitcom friendships. Thanks for the update, Steve! 👍 I have another interesting suggestion for you. Would you please consider doing a "Whatever Happened To..." video on Karyn Parsons, best known for her role as Hilary Banks on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, in the near future?
Another great suggestion Tarrell!
Al Borland and Tim Taylor’s relationship is based on TV’s Bob Vila and Norm Abram of “This Old House” and “Bob Vila’s Home Again”.
Al was a piece of work!
👍
Years ago he did a series for the History Channel show the evolution on the Foot Soldier. It was part Documentary & part Comedy!
I didn’t see that, but it sounds interesting. I’ll have to check it out. Thanks Thrashpondo!
Love It thanks for the Share. 🙂🇺🇲
Glad you enjoyed it
Well, Richard Karn has been everywhere after Home Improvement was over. Back in 2002, he went on to replace the late great Louie Anderson on Family Feud during the show's third run and second revival. Richard Karn would eventually leave Family Feud in 2006 only to be replaced by John O'Hurley. These days, Richard Karn has reunited with Tim Allen for a new television show or two. Otherwise, great video.
Thanks John!
Did you know, Home Improvement was a show that never should have been made, due to Tim Allen's lengthy criminal record.
I guess ABC and Disney had rules in place, to prevent individuals with criminal records from being actors.
Interesting. Thanks for sharing! I’m glad it was made.
Family Feud!
I can't believe I failed to mention that! Great catch and, yes, he was great as the host of Family Feud!
@@stephensundstrom6379 oh wow...that Michelob commercial was straight 🔥
I met him once at Yardbirds in Petaluma, California. I didn't get his autograph. Rats
That would have been a great autograph to grab for sure!
Didn't he do a game show? Family Feud for four years if I recall
Yes he did. Great catch!
He hosted Family Feud
You’re right and I TOTALLY should have mentioned that.
He makes 50 floor commercials
👍
