What is IL-2 Great Battles?
The new generation of IL-2 Sturmovik titles is developed by 1CGS and is a combat flight simulator of the World War II era and carries on the tradition created by the original IL-2 Sturmovik first released in 2001. Sturmovik recreates the aircraft, their use in the war and the environment they flew in. This latest product is a successor of the classic IL-2 Sturmovik that was a leader of the sim genre for more than 10 years. The new IL-2 is true to the ideas born by the first title with an accurate representation of aircraft and famous WWII battles.

The episode was re-uploaded because he renumbered this episode from 4 to 3 (he accidentally numbered this as 4 because this is mission 4 of the campaign, but only the 3rd episode. He skipped over the first mission of the campaign because it was just flying into his forward airbase.)

Watching you play IL-2 really makes me want to give this game a go. Before I do so, may I ask to know what flight sim set-up you are using? Thank you and your always great contents!
I started on a $30 shitty joystick from Walmart like 15 years ago and over time ended up with a x-55 throttle, vkb gladiator stick, ch pro rudders, and head tracker. Definitely worth it
If you can find one get the Microsoft SideWinder FFB 2 joystick, still the best there is.
I would add playing as a FIghter without headtracker is not a good idea
I would say buy a shitty cheap hotas before you commit. That way you're not in the hole if you decide its not for you, and and you decide to upgrade you'll have a better idea of what you're looking for
Oh man, I remember loving IL-2 so much a few years ago, when I had more time. Seeing what it's become makes me wish I could get back into it. I'll take this in the meantime though, got yourself a new subscriber.

From someone who played the original IL2 franchise for 5 years some 15 or so years ago, this brought back many fond memories. Good to see this franchise evolve with beautiful graphics and 3D lighting within the cockpit. Nice job on the landing, it's always satisfying landing down a crippled bird safely.

Hey Wolfpack! Would you mind sharing your graphics settings? Like in-game, driver profile settings and whatever post-processing stuff you might use? I just love how the game apparently looks for you, while I'm guessing there is some video encoding stuff going on that makes the visuals different from the raw in-game picutres.

Could you elaborate a little what kind of headtracking hardware and software you use? Opentrack and a IR tracker, or an iPhone tracker? I'd love to be able to look around as you do.

@@tillydean2386 I think OperatorDrewski did a review of one of those hotas setups and Im sure all these expensive setups are very similar if not the same
Yeah I use a Hotas. The Thrustmaster Warthog and MFG crosswind rudder pedals. You don't have to spend that kind of money to enjoy the hobby though. The cheaper sticks work great :)
Can this be played with an Xbox one controller? I dont really have the room for a HOTAS setup
