- Most people thought this decision was impulsive and spontaneous but for about 3-4 months at the end of my journey I was craving a silk press…. So I did it! If you have any unanswered questions leave them in the comments and I’ll be happy to answer!

I’m in the middle of combing mines out now. I started with 102 and I have 72 left to do.. did tewww much but the length is definitely lenthing 😂🤣

Same I had 56 I have 20 left . Pretty much doing 2 a day. It takes 1 hour for a loc

Thank you! I’ve been getting my hair done all my life so at this point it’s second nature. BUT my mom does my hair, if i had to deal with some of these unprofessional new stylists i might’ve kept the locs lol

@@cwendolly Oh let me tellllll you! I wish I never did it. I combed them out the end of February or beginning of March I can’t remember. I’m in the process of locing my hair again. It was cool at first but it’s too much. I miss just leaving without doing my hair lol I went through hair depression!!!
@@JazzWorld93 i feel you. i’m only combing mine out to start over! i had mine for 6 years but the parts were uneven, hair was damaged from the bleaching and dying so i’m just gonna let my hair grow and soon after reloc
@@cwendolly Lol I only took mine out to restart as well cause the back was smaller than the top 😩 I wish I would’ve just combined those out and left the rest alone. But it’s all good cause soon I’ll be locd again. I hate dealing with my natural hair so that’s where I messed up. It was super long but it broke off due to not really caring for it properly. So as long as your doing that it’ll be fine.
It was easier for you to do it because it had only been a year. They aren’t fully mature yet. Mine was 3 years and it was a beast! 🤣

If that’s your goal make sure you take GREAT care of your hair! There were plenty of people i seen who weren’t so lucky with the comb out
Just keep your hair in twists and get them unwisted and redone every 3 or 4 months.

Thank you so much! And honestly I have no idea, Im not too into the specifics of my hair but i can tell you that it’s super thick! My mother specializes in natural hair and she is a big help in maintaining the strength and health of my hair! She was the ONLY person who interlocked them AND I ONLY used her products on my hair down to the shampoo and edge control!

Hey @astrolothot it depends more on the thickness and age of the dreads the thicker you have them and the shorter youve had them the more hair you keep. Ive done it twice now and with the thick ones i retained most of my length, only had them in for about a year this time xx

I’ve seen people with bra strap-waist length locs finish with shoulder length hair while some with shorter locs or just about the same length, retain length or have even longer hair than the locs. How does that work?😭

I combed out my dreads too that was already damaged so now its just a big poofy matted mess😭thin at the roots puffy at the end but the growth was there. Thinking about re getting them again
What methods did you use to comb them out? That may be why it matted up on you

Yeah I’ve always have pretty long hair like maybe a few inches past my shoulders! My hair typically grows pretty fast and long but this was the longest length I’ve ever seen to date.

Ive had my locs for 10 years and I know that taking them out you lose hair but its been hard taking care of my hair because of not knowing good products for my hair and some pieces falling out, should I took the leap and take it out, im crying just thinking of the shortage Im gonna have🙁
I also have skinny locs(because of mom) so I have like a thousand😔 but also have gotten my hair bleached before so it makes it even worst

Currently combing mine out too. I’d just say take how ever much time you need! I’ve done it before in the past and tried to do it in a short time-frame. All Ima say is that I was in the bathroom mirror with one section left, having a mental breakdown and holding scissors up to my head😂. Go slow lol
