You won’t regret the bigger coil. The other chap I communicate with about detecting uses the 15 inch coil and a week ago, he dug 130 targets on a Gold Coast beach. I also aim to try for old coins and relics at old town sites wherever I can.

Wow, that's a huge number! I have a few old sites locally I'd love to try with the big coil. Maybe soon!

TID increases by one or two digits with the bigger coil and the sensitivity increase is unbelievable, it is so much higher.

After a conversation with another detectorist mate, the comparison between the Equinox and the Manticore is chalk and cheese. I’ve never used an Equinox but after using the Manticore for over six months, the Manticore is a very good machine. I just bought a 15 inch coil and after a couple of hours swinging today, I found that the bigger coil increases the depth range significantly. One coin I got today was a 10 cent piece which was between 400 and 450 mm deep.

It's truly an incredible piece of kit! I'm now frequently 3 to 4 full sand scoops down, and still needing to dig further by hand to recover many coins. It's great to know I can go and cover just about any beach knowing I'm likely hitting deep sand that's likely never been detected before.
