"our songs will be completed live." by lovebites. empty daydream, epilogue, swan song, set the world on fire, and a frozen serenade were all completed live.
If you think this song is slow you need to react to their power ballad called Epilogue. Reminds me of the Scorpions. These ladies are top notch and just GREAT! 🤘🏻
Enjoyed the reaction. This is my favorite Lovebites song. Some reactors have said they feel Asami's melody in the first half doesn't fit with the song. I disagree. I think her vocal line provides a cool counter melody to the music. It gives me old Dream Theater vibes. I was never able to master classical acoustic guitar, so high respect to Midori on this one to be able to pull it off live like that.
You caught that James Bond theme vibe on this like I did the first time I heard it.. I like this song more every time I hear it again. I love the lyrics to this song. The lyrics and music to me are much more like a classic rock song from the 70's. A lot of layers and very interesting. There is also a lot of soul to this song. The acoustic/piano interlude with the falling snow and Asami dancing was very well done. The production of Lovebites concerts is so well done. It is a credit to the Lovebites team. Kudos to not only the band members but also to the everyone on the team.
Good reaction. My favorite LoveBites song from the first time i heard the studio version. Great live. I also thought when i heard this the first time that this could be a James Bond theme. Thank you for this reaction.
LOVEBITES - A Frozen Serenade lyrics: Crystal tears Falling from the skies Veiling fears The emptiness inside Time is just passing by Killing me under the soft twilight A frozen melody Of doves and ravens dancing in melancholy A distant memory If only this snow could erase the pain I'd wake up in a serenade One life ends And one life begins Evanesce To our origins When I'm lost on my way Lead my heart and guide me with your grace A frozen melody Of doves and ravens dancing in melancholy A distant memory If only this snow could erase the pain I'd wake up in a serenade Just like a dream, just like a bird I'll keep on singing out Even if my voice cannot reach you Seasons may pass, but its beauty will never fade away All living things are precious and irreplaceable Just like a dream, just like a bird I'll keep on singing out Even if my voice cannot reach you White butterflies are fluttering under the silver sky If only I could wish to see you once more ----- lyrics: asami music: asami & Mao arrangement: LOVEBITES (miho, haruna, midori, miyako, asami) & Mao
the favourite one of many of the wolfpack. I like the album version better, cause you can hear all the little intricacies better, especially the mighty guitar vortex at the end didn´t sound so good here imho. lovebites unfamiliar "grooviness" can throw of at little first listening, I´ll give you that. but it´s good that you´re honest, we appreciate that.
Do you mean that blizzard like riff at the ending? That would be of violins in a symphony. I love that riff and Miyako's sick riff backing Asami's vocal at the beginning, not mention of Midori's passionate solo.
You will learn over time that 95% of 6 minute Lovebites tracks are impossible to judge on first listen at the two minute mark. This is one of Miyako’s masterpieces, multi layered and almost has distinct movements. It’s many fans pick as their best, along with tracks like Set The World on Fire, Edge of the World and Swansong…. And that list could of course be a lot longer. Play it again, without pausing… it’ll grow to become a favourite for you too.
Lovebites always throw you off, don't they. Hahahaha, 007? With its structure, it sounds more like a concerto or a symphony "to me". They have very good slow ones. Try Epilogue. A soul shaking and heart melting ballad with soulful guitar solos of Miyako and Midori.
I'm surprised you haven't come across this one before now. I also get the 007 feel from the first third. So great to see Asami's ballet background in the awesome acoustic middle section. And then the wonderful guitars and Haruna's fills in the last section make it a real stand out track for me.
Hey man great reaction! I enjoy that you look for the good even if something doesn’t quite jive with you (I know exactly where you’re coming from, though) I agree, there’s *something* just a bit off about this specific recording. It’s not the skill or ability. I honestly believe it’s in the mix itself. The sound level of the guitars were distracting to me in the first half during the verses. Now while this was an amazing concert, I am on the fence about the quality, which I attribute to a few things: -the concert production felt rushed -I feel maybe they pushed hard to get one last show in before Miho (bassist) left -massive restrictions due to COVID regulations (if you haven’t noticed, the audience was asked to refrain from cheering and being audible vocally. They could only clap. The 6ft social distancing was in full effect and I believe the girls were forced to take several breaks to let the venue air out. I could be completely wrong there) What I want to point out is that this is my favorite song on the Electric Pentagram album. My job requires me to drive from location to location so I’m on the road quite a lot. I upgraded my car’s sound system for this reason and this song punches hard (like most of Lovebites’ material). Obviously studio differs from live. But, I’ve listened to this song so many times I know it’s not the girls. I strongly lean to it being the live mix. TLDR; live mix was off. Check the studio version and you’ll find asami’s vocals fit masterfully with the piece.
The concert took place on March 26, 2021, Miha announced her departure on August 17, 2021. After the concert, Miyako, Haruna, Miho, Midori and Asami talked with their technical support team, thanked them. Miha smiled, was in a good mood. I have watched the whole concert several times. This is the best LOVEBITES concert ever. Everything is perfect as far as possible.
Like you, when I first heard this song, I thought that there was something "wonky" about it. However, after listening to it a couple of more times, I began to understand it better. I think there are both key signature and time signature changes in unexpected places, and it throws you off. Plus, it's very different from most of their songs. It sort of takes us out of our comfort zone. Now, I appreciate it as a masterpiece of composing. Someone who really understands music was needed to write this song. I love it now.

Don't feel like you are on your own with that funny feeling at the start of this song. Other reactors & commenters have expressed the same feelings. Myself included. I felt it was something in the phrasing or the timing in the vocals. They are written as a slow ballad, but being played over as solid, faster, metal soundtrack. I'm no musician, it's just a feeling. But, however, I absolutely love this track as a whole. An outstanding piece of work. That first part sounds better after a few listens.
Asami's valley skill(She used to), Midori's acoustic guitar,Miyako's piano part is beautiful and beautiful ballad song! How about RAISE SOME HELL (LIVE) next? P.S. Many bands considered great have one masterpiece to their names. Lovebites have at least a half dozen, and I have to put this performance at the top of the mountain. The song is about the end of the world, told metaphorically as a love song. It has the same structure as Ravel's Bolero, or Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven. The slow beginning is just to get you warmed up.
Something to think about: A great band can change up their music, sound. I.e., Metallica was real thrashy starting out, then did the orchestra gig, then garage day covers, to their more alternative / progressive music post the black album. A band that only plays one sound is limited, one dimensional. LOVEBITES is the complete opposite and why they F rock; they can do it all. My 2 cents.
This song and performance is masterful!. There was nothing wrong in this song at all.. why can't you just enjoy, instead of looking for reasons to downgrade.

LOVEBITES - A Frozen Serenade lyrics:
Crystal tears Falling from the skies
Veiling fears The emptiness inside
Time is just passing by
Killing me under the soft twilight
A frozen melody
Of doves and ravens dancing in melancholy
A distant memory
If only this snow could erase the pain
I'd wake up in a serenade
One life ends
And one life begins
Evanesce
To our origins
When I'm lost on my way
Lead my heart and guide me with your grace
A frozen melody
Of doves and ravens dancing in melancholy
A distant memory
If only this snow could erase the pain
I'd wake up in a serenade
Just like a dream, just like a bird
I'll keep on singing out
Even if my voice cannot reach you
Seasons may pass, but its beauty will never fade away
All living things are precious and irreplaceable
Just like a dream, just like a bird
I'll keep on singing out
Even if my voice cannot reach you
White butterflies are fluttering under the silver sky
If only I could wish to see you once more
