"Everything Costs", is the companion video for "The Road To Nowhere" • Radical Face - The Roa... .
They're on parallel time lines, with the protagonists of each are affecting each other's lives without knowing it. As always, it was made with friends and volunteers here in Jacksonville, and shot by Michael Walter (who made the lyric video for Secrets) and Mark Hubbard (who shot The Mute, and a bunch of others).
This song was originally for the younger sibling in the song “Sisters.” But during the making of this album, my own family had a huge falling out that left me adopting a child and selling my home, among other events. I did not intend to work myself into this family tree so directly, but life happens. This song is now from my own point of view.

Why the mother is so scared when he saw the kid?
+Music Collapse from what i can gather, the mother is in mourning-- she starts out wearing all black, and the passage of time is shown as she progresses to half-mourning with the black and green gown. the boy is shown with a blood splatter on his shirt, and dark sunken eyes.
i think for all intents and purposes, that boy might be a dead brother.
+sarah arquitt The boy is the one from The Road to Nowhere video, who killed The Gilded Hand. The notes he was writing on the wall appear to the girl in this video. I'm pretty sure she is his sister. The mouse is also with him in the other video. I'm guessing she was pretending to mourn him but was actually happy he was gone, which is why seeing him scared her.

+Music Collapse The boy is from the Road to Nowhere video, who killed the Gilded Hand, like Kevin said. The videos happen kind of simultaneously. You'll notice the Gilded Hand in the tea party. The mom and him are friends. When she sees that the boy the Gilded Hand has been experimenting on has escaped, she runs to tell the Gilded Hand (then she'll presumably find his body and disappear). It's just the final nail in the coffin of how bad a mom she is. She abandons her daughter to warn her terrible friend.
