- In this episode I just wanted some fun fishing. Dopshot fishing with worms is one of the simplest and easiest ways to catch fish, its great for kids to get started in fishing. I went to my local river which has a load of mixed species, trout, roach, perch, chub, bream and dace which all eat worms. Give dropshot fishing a try you might just love it.

Great stuff Douglas. Regular posting and variety makes this the best Scottish based fishing channel on YT
WOW! An amazing comment Fred I’m very humbled and appreciative to hear that. I would like to upload more but unfortunately life gets in the way sometimes👍👌
Just what fishing is all about, can see you're really enjoying yourself. Great video.
Cheers Phil, yeah was really getting into it when the heavens opened up and no jacket😳😩
Keep them coming I’m older but still enjoy listing too knowledgable people thanks
Many thanks Edward👍
Great fun Douglas a we mixer of fish exsp the chub. Nice one mate i have started my own worrmary the price of worms these days i no i like to help local. Tackle shops but iam fishing often and the money buids up and i no there fresh when i need them
Thanks Ian. I’ve had a wormary for a few years now but it’s been a bit hammered over last year. Plenty of tiny one for next year. It just makes sense even to buy your worms in bulk works out much cheaper and chuck them in the wormary for when you need them.
Fishing isn't always about catching the biggies, sometimes just getting out and having some fun on light gear is just as enjoyable. magic.
For sure Gordon, we can often put ourselves under pressure sometimes to catch that target species or chase the next PB, I know I do. It’s good just to chill out catch a few fish on an easy method, it’s days like that when the unexpected happens.
Very true.
I could not agree more.

A nice relaxing day on the river great stuff 👌
Many thanks Alan
Hello Douglas, that was brilliant, dropshot looks really simple and effective . Would like to see more of this🎣
Cheers buddy much appreciated mate
I'd have to say drop shot with worm for trout and trotting a worm under a quill is such a nice peaceful way to fish I have a beautiful spot surrounded by trees and all I can hear is birds and fish jumping and ducks quacking, I use it as a form of meditation 🧘♂️
Can’t beet it Robbie👍
Absolutely m8 it's often the most simple methods people have used since people started fishing with rod n line because its simple and it works.
Yeah really good video I'm trying to get some of my own stuff on CZcams soon my friend is gonna film and I'm gonna show the simple basics of pier fishing 🎣 if we get one good episode out I'll consider it a success 🙌 😀 lol
@@robbieallan6522 awesome what’s your channel name going to be?
@@PiscatorUK-Fishing thinking "isle of man fishin plaice " cuz it's one fish that's illuded me for over 2p years so it would be great to finally catch a plaice lol , I'll keep you posted m8
@robbieallan6522 cheers buddy, tight lines👍
That's my kind of fishing and what a beautiful looking river that it, lovely.
Cheers buddy, tight lines🎣👍
Brilliant 👏🏼 Looks great fun!
Cheers Dario, it is mate, very simple and easy to use.
Magic sport Mr H!
Thanks buddy👍
Top man sir
loved the video
Cheers buddy👍
I use to catch perch in an old limestone quarry about a mile up the road it was also stocked with rainbow trout and it was just the farmer who owned the land stocked it for us kids to go 🎣 and he did mind us taking them home, he is a really generous guy, anyway I don't think they won't breed so probably none there anymore but theirs definitely perch and some monster eels and my m8 even saw 2 terrapins an lily pads last summer so someone obviously didn't want them and released m business they survived the winter is another story.
Anyway great content as always, drop shotting is a great simple way to fish 🐟.
Hello, this ws pure fun to view, good old worms, and a simple method, light weight rod, thank you I really enjoyed this very much,
at last we are having some rain, Autum coming, do love the Perch, all the best mate.
Cheers Clive, I do love the perch too, fascinating species and stunning fish. Tight lines mate👍
Nice little session mate 🎣🎣🎣🎣
Cheers buddy thanks for watching👍
I used to free trot a worm on the River Averon in Alness when I lived there great way to get salmon and sea trout at night! God I miss living there.
The garden flee is awesome Shug👍
Great method for perch in my local canal
Cheers Richard, tight lines mate👍
Mind blown 🤯
I genuinely didn't know that we had Chub up here in Scotland.
Yes mate not many rivers have them tho, the smaller chub can be mistaken for dace or vice versa.
A few years ago, more than I care to remember, the club I was in had their annual match on another club's loch.
It was fly only, I had been told there were brownies and rainbows, I fished a weighted nymph and something else on a dropper.
I finished the day with over 20 fish, every single one of them a chub.
SW Scotland, by the way!
@TroodosPoolGuy thanks for sharing, I bet the chub were a bit bigger than the ones I had. It’s very unusual although not unknown for chub to be in still water. The river I was on, flows into Lomond and are occasionally caught there too.
In Portugal we use this technic for barbel, with worms, maggots and wild raspberrys.
Awesome thanks for commenting and sharing👍
Bent rod is a bent rod👍
👍for sure
As always enjoy your videos but you took for granted I knew how to set up a drop shot rig. Sorry but I watch your videos to learn how to fish different techniques so as much ‘inside’ info would be greatly appreciated thanks
I will do a video on how I do dropshot fishing in more detail, this was just a little taste. As always Edward I appreciate your feedback and support👍
have you tried a fly/lure drop shotting
Thanks for commenting buddy. No never tried a fly lure on the dropshot, I think soft plastic lures imitate bait fish far better than a fly lures but it will catch fish I’m sure drop shotting. Maybe something like a sculpin pattern hopped along the bottom would be successful.
I had no idea the Endrick has Chub in it I only ever targeted Salmon, Sea Trout and Pike and the odd Brown trout been many years since I fished it though, is it a new species to the river , great video as always many thanks
Cheers Shug👍 I think the chub have been there for a while, supposedly some big ones in it, never had any off the big ones but I have seen pictures of dead ones which were stranded in the fields after a huge flood.
Ah right, I haven't the river for about 30 years, its nice to see it thriving@@PiscatorUK-Fishing
I fish Lomond regularly and always fancied this river but the permits seem like such a hassle and the one place I've been able to find isn't open on a Sunday. It's a shame because it looks like a nice place to chuck some lures around.
Hi grant, JD Bisland at Croftamie for the permit. You can nock on the house door on a Sunday but not before 8am, it is a nice wee place can be a lot of snags from trees washed down the river but many big fish amongst them👍
@@PiscatorUK-Fishing thats excellent. Definitely a venue I'll need to try when the wind makes the kayaking unviable.
I Grant
I have contacted JD Bilsland at Croftamie and they said that you can now buy a permit over the phone and a copy of the permit can be emailed to anglers
@@PiscatorUK-Fishing absolute legend , much appreciated.
@@grant1133 no worries mate, tight lines🎣👍
I've just caught a small perch and 2 more of 1lb+ on my local canal by dropshotting worms.
Nice one Wayne, thanks for the feedback and comment, it’s an enjoyable method and it can often produce the unexpected👍👌
Nice one Wayne, simple is often the best.
In
what river is that im up in helensburgh on thursday
It’s the Endrick James, can get a permit from JD Bilsland at Croftamie. You can purchase by phone👍
Dropshot is an awesome method. Why spoil it with worms though?
Cheers, I don’t think it spoils it more guarantee multiple species. Dropshotting with worms came way before soft plastics were ever thought about.
@@PiscatorUK-FishingSpoil was maybe the wrong word. Like how can you spoil fishing lol. I am in my late fifties and dropshotting with worms was never really known until about a decade or so ago. At least in the UK. There are much better ways to fish worm. I never really have a problem catching multiple species with this method. Had some massive carp dropshotting. A few fat roach and several bream over the years. Chub seem to prefer a moving bait I find. Or small top water lures. I cant even remember the last time I used bait.
@@PiscatorUK-Fishing You should try Reins baits if you can get them. They are killers. I have used many different brands over the years. Reins are my go to almost always.
@@nospoon4799 it is a very versatile method mate👍
@@nospoon4799 thanks for the info, I’ve had a look for the hem but most are sold out on many websites, hey must be popular.
is that the annan its a fish i could just fish for the rest of my life chub
Cheers mate, no it’s the Endrick water. Chub are a lovely fish, especially if you can get the bigger ones👍
Didn't know the endrick had chub food thought it a species I have never caught that and a barbel I'd love to catch
Lgreat wee video ❤
@@9suuupersonic aye there’s supposed to be some decent ones in it. Never had a barbel either mate
