Love the info but stop using that aluminium biscuit tin or you will poison yourself.
Thanks for the tip my friend, I’m sure it will help other viewers out that look at the comments. I’m well aware of the hazards in using aluminium for cooking food. I think it is mainly tin metal as it is starting to rust and not aluminium. I’ll be sure to inform viewers in the next cooking video using the biscuit tin👍
I really, really hope you are either thoroughly cleaning that float tube before you go between waters or have a seperate float tube only for hill lochs. Our hill lochs are the last great wild areas for our native fish, the brown trout, and highly sensitive to bio-security issues.
Thanks for commenting Matt. Yes it was a wonderful day surrounded by amazing scenery and the fish were just stunning👍
@@PiscatorUK-Fishing so no view on bio-security?
@mattwright2964 absolutely!! it’s very important to protect our wild waters around the country. Anglers should do everything in their power to protect what we have, like washing all our equipment that’s been in contact with the water and substrate, especially if you intend to fish other waters. You only have to look at the River Clyde where the aquatic life is being destroyed by crayfish. Many anglers are oblivious of the direct impact they have on potentially spreading contamination from one water to the next or they just don’t care.
Can you have postcode please mate thanks
Good vid fella. But what is "deep water"? Maybe you gave a measurement but I missed it :)
@@andrewgoodall2183 Thanks for watching Andrew, I’m casting into 30-50ft of water. You can catch mackerel shallower than that, I would say that anything over 15ft you will have success if the mackerel are there.
Just perfect.

Hi mate where is this im looking for some where to start out thanks
It’s in the Gareloch west of Scotland. A permit is required for sea trout fishing here. You can get a season ticket for the Clyde estuary from Tickers tackle Helensburgh, which is cheaper than the Loch Lomond Angling Improvements Association
Thanks for your help inow starting carp fishing i ham haveing good fun at 75 years old fly fishing for 30 years thank you for your time on the loop tyer
Only too glad to help. I got into coarse fishing 2 years back so much so that I started match fishing it’s a great sport. At the moment I’ve just got too many other fishing interests going on that I equally enjoy. Any lures for sea trout? There’s a big one that chases my salt skimmer but won’t strike
So many lures out there that’s good. Abu Garcia Solv Pill I think it is, is highly recommended. I’ve had great success with line through sand eel

Thanks for the tips on catching and cooking i think id be too presumptuous to take summat to cook a fish on beach lol ,that mackerel didn't look happy when you said you were gonna smoke him . right im gonna keep an eye out for terns and gannets diving around . last time i went fishing there was only a cooperant at side of us got owt he got a huge eel and proceeded to eat it ,im sure he was laughing seriously .you can see what happened on my you tube channel if you like , anyway thanks again , Ant .

Do you need a shock leader if you load the reel with 15 lb I always have the knot catching the line on the cast.
Thanks for the questions buddy. I take it you mean 15lb mono? If so you should be ok. If you fish in an area that’s got no possibility of getting snagged up, then fishing light line is ok. The best braid to leader knot to use is the FG knot. Tight lines🎣
Awww man what a gr8 place to fish ,any particular time of day there ,or is it a constant supply . greetings from Wales .

Used to catch hundreds of these as a kid in Scotland. Loved Mackerel for both fishing and eating. Used the same killing technique but had my fingers in the gills before pulling back, this broke a major blood vessel and they would shoot blood for a fair distance, Made the flesh better. In South Australia now and the mackerel here just anit the same.

Can you fish a light lure aka a spoon or westin below the fly to help with casting. with this set up or would that break the rod???Love your videos thanks in advance
Thanks for the questions Mark. I don’t think it would break the rod but I do think you could end up in all sorts of tangles. If I’m going to fish a lure then a suitable light setup would be my go to choice. Don’t forget mate you don’t need to cast far to catch sea trout. I’ve had them on a 5gram rapala floating crank bait that only cast 50ft max.

Hi Douglas great video again i have not long came across ur channel are you fishing at clynder area all the time and if so how deep is it there. Many thanks looking to take my grandson to get him started and looking at easier options to start him off i live in erskine so not far to travel i used to use greenock but it way over fished and extremely busy at this time of year.
Hello buddy thanks for watching and commenting. I totally get fishing away from the busy areas which I try to avoid. I am just before Clynder in the last few mackerel videos but do like to try other areas. It’s relatively shallow close in with deeper water further out with a good cast. A bit of advice if you do plan to go there, is to go about 3hrs of the ebb tide down to low water and fish the first 3hrs of the flood tide, that way you don’t need to cast as far to reach deeper water. Rosneath the opposite side of Rhu narrows is also quite good but again can get busy in summer and parking close to the water is very limited. Hope this helps mate, tight lines to you both👍
Thank you so much for the advice Douglas it's very greatfully received I haven't been able to get out this summer as yet obviously due to weather conditions not been great here in the west of Scotland as u will be well aware. Was hoping to try a trip up early morning this week to see how things were and when he stops school for summer take him to a mark which isn't too busy. I used loch long many times and last year around this time it was producing big hoards of macks but weather was completely different very warm. I drove down towards clynder last year but just wasn't sure if it was deep enough for macks tbh but having watched you and seeing what can be done I shall try and see this season at some point. Again many thanks and tight lines to you and look forward to seeing more videos from yourself oh and the smoked mack looks amazing 👏

Love Mackerel fishing, they put up a great fight. Top video especially with the cook to compliment the catch. Out of interest which 11’ spinning rod are you using ? I find it hard to find a spinning rod longer than 10’.
Hello mate, many thanks for commenting, your right not many 11 ft spinning rods about. 10ft will do the job though as long as the weight rating is high enough for the lures or weights. I’ve had this rod for years, it’s a rovex captive and I’ve used it in a few of my videos including the sea trout fishing. It’s not the lightest of rods and I wouldn’t want to be casting it all day but it’s also a good all rounder for light beach fishing.
