Hello Henry, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. You can be sure of a warm welcome at the Lynton & Barnstable Railway and on a quiet day you might even get a cab ride.
Very nice production Tim...That was lucky being there on a day they offered Cab rides. I have not yet managed to do it myself. When did you film this one ? I usually only go when it's Gala Weekends, but i'm really fond of this superb Railway and can't wait til they extend it....Best wishes.......Steve.
Hi Steve, I visited on 9 &10th June, on both days footplate rides were available for a very reasonable £20. I think maybe visiting on a quieter day meant the staff and volunteers had more time available to spend with visitors. This railway is well worth a visit and I look forward to it extending further into the delightful Devon countryside......Tim.
Oh dear, now I'm a little embarrassed, I have corrected it where I can. Thank you for pointing my mistake out, I'll have to be more careful in future....Tim.
Double oops ... Barnstable's in Massachusetts - traindriver35 got it right, but Tim only spotted the Lynton bit. News report last year about a lady who broke down in North Devon, and asked her smartphone to get her the Barnstaple police - and got connected to Barnstable, Mass. The officer said he'd be right there, but it might take him a while :)
You had me going there for a minute, I had to check the spelling for Barnstable. Although I am English and I publish my videos in England, it takes some getting used to that only around 10% of my viewers are English, whereas over 30% are from the USA, this leads to some interesting problems ... Colour or Color, Railway or Railroad, Switch or Points, Rack rail or Cog rail. I visit Christchurch in New Zealand and Christchurch in England, but I fail to realise or is that realise that a guy in India has no idea which Christchurch I am referring to . I receive many funny comments simply because I sometimes fail to comprehend that my audience is worldwide. I try to include the country now in the title or video description. I typed "Barnstable" into Google and the first page is all Barnstable's in Massachusetts, until I read your comment I didn't know there was a Barnstable's in Massachusetts :-)
Brilliants video! I really must go and visit the Lynton & Barnstable Railway.
