This is training. Almost everyone has the gift of song. All it takes is much hard work, and something genuine in the heart. Many do lack the second. They go their whole lives singing on fake emotion rather than just existing as they are and singing from the heart plainly without need for any acting
@@stone301 Yes, Pav spent 6 yrs just practicing scales for the most part when he first was taken under wing. Opera singers are athletes and they must train their bodies and voices with hard work and sacrifice. However, you can have a lion heart for singing, you can work like a mule, but without God-given talent, most will seldom make it. And if they do, they will not last decades like Pav did. Be well.

1979 film made in Modena with Cond. Leone Magiera and a model for the Mimi, as it was not a performance of Boheme, but a video of the aria, he recorded several more arias that day in 1979.
@@georgioverini2299 It was a film made in 1979 in Modena at the opera house with the lady model you see, she isn't a singer and Leone Magiera Cond. it was not a complete performance, but a film they made and recorded under good studio Conditions, that was why no applause at the end of the aria, they video recorded some arias and among them this Boheme aria, also Vesti La Giubba, Recondi Armonita (from Tosca) and Nessun Dorma, probably even more that I don't know about.
He was larger than life itself. I also love his performance in Paris, for a concert of this song, around 1977. One thing I did wish was for him to sing together with Soprano Julie Andrews. They received the Kennedy Center honors together however.

XD I tried 2X, a christmas song, Adeste Fidele (Oh come o ye faithful). At least a co-sister recognize it and told me "like I like that Pavarotti way... (something like that). But my breath effort was hard. The second time was in actual mass. Yes. Well at least I tried. What a waste he passed away.
PAVAROTTI IS TRULY THE KING OF HIGH Cs. I listened to Caruso and Bjorling singing this same song earlier and they cannot match the power and high level notes of Pavarotti.
@@ursmue1937 Well i said my opinion but that's true. Gigli and Caruso were phenomenal. Lanza decided to start singing after hearing the Great Caruso. Gigli had a great voice but i prefer other tenor of his period like Pertile
I realized the first time I became aware of Pavarotti was during the 3 tenors. I thought to myself yes he can sing opera but I am not a fan. It’s when I started to listen to his earlier works, I was being wowed. What’s the difference between his voice on this video and the three tenors circuit?
@@jaytamayo4694 I believe this was a taping of individual arias (in costume) for the BBC. You can see this same clip in the tribute documentary "Luciano Pavarotti a Life in Seven Arias"... there are clips of that documentary on youtube, I think.

Quite magnificent. Pavarotti at his best, better than one or two versions he recorded in the studio. I do think that the little known lyrical tenor from Azerbijan, the late Rashid Bebudov, rendered the aria's High C more beautifully than any of his fellow tenors, including Pavarotti here.
A very beautiful rendition by Luciano Pavarotti. We may have taken him for granted while he was here with us, but not anymore.
Very well done, one of his best versions of all.

Age, primarily. His voice was unbelievably crisp and even had more color when he was younger.
It was still incredibly beautiful in later life. Listen to his Rondine al nido from the first Three Tenors in 1990. Stunning.
