Arriving In SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA (SJO) :: Juan Santamaría International Airport WALK TOUR

- I arrived in San Jose, Costa Rica at the Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO). Just a heads up, although this was slow season (rainy season), SJO customs is SUPER SLOW! Stood in that line for a hour and a half!
Also if renting a car, print out a copy of your car insurance that shows liability coverage if you don't plan to buy their insurance, because apparently Costa Rica mandates you have liability.

Aahh nice video it gives me beautiful memories. Pura vida 🇨🇷
Glad to hear that! Pura Vida
Very nice view of arrival through immigration, then baggage and customs and out to transportation, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks
Thank you so much for this.
Any time!
Mi Costa Rica querida.
Thank you for posting!
Traveling to Costa Rica in October and wanted to familiarize myself with the airport as well as get an idea of how long going through customs takes.
No problem. Have fun!
going in february can’t wait
Nice! Enjoy
Yeah bro so good from Costa Rica 🇨🇷 very good video
Appreciate it!
Helpful - thanks!
You're welcome!
I went back there for my 40th and ended up in Panama. I’m going back for my fourth time in couple of weeks, i can’t wait 😊🌴☀️🌊
Nice! Enjoy
hotel del rey?
I just did this flight on Flight Simulator. Sadly, I missed the runway. But I didn't crash. So I consider that a success!
Fun fact: Despite its name, the airport is not actually in San José.
It’s in a neighbor province called Alajuela
oh wow, thanks for that info!
Very informative! I have a question but haven’t been able to find a concrete response anywhere. Do you need a proof of sufficient funds in cash upon entry?
Thank you in advance!
Thank you! To answer your question, no. Customs just will ask you the location and duration of where you will stay. & actually, I don't recall ever having to provide "funds" details to any country I've been to tbh. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!
Noticed the video cuts before going through the check point. Is it a quick walkthrough or you gotta wait for luggage scan.
Took forever
Do you have a video on how to get to public transportation?
Just this video of the airport
Is there still a Kolbi-desk in the arrivals-area where you can get a local prepaid sim-card ?
I believe so
No, not now. The Kölbi desk is at the boarding area, now the passengers who arrive go through corridors to migration section. Áreas have been separated.
@@Julifermon Gracias, so I need to wait until I'm in the city and look for a Kolbi store there ?
@@gido65 yes now you can buy Claro and Movistar sim card as well or there a coffee shop outside and maybe the have there..
Thanks, is there priority for those with chidlren?
I believe so
Hi, nice video! How easy is it to get an über? Trying to go soon for dental tourism but he’s afraid for me to go alone. Any tips?
I rented a car so not sure about Uber. San Jose is not bad, you'll be fine
@@TravelDolo thank you!

Regarding rental cars - do your homework. Even the information at the top (introduction by poster) is incorrect. Firstly, you're paying much more by renting at the airport. Companies without a kiosk at the airport will also pick you up. Secondly, mandatory liability insurance is required, and can be as much as the daily rate of the rental. Most car rental companies will not inform you of this when booking online, and you're in for a nasty surprise when you rent the vehicle. This is not covered by any policies, or credit card insurance you may have. You have to buy it in order to get a vehicle. Your insurance policy covers things like collision and comprehensive, and perhaps even additional third party liability. Also, check with your insurer, some don't insure in Costa Rica at all, or specify only travel on paved roads. Good luck with that in Costa Rica. There are a few independent rental agencies that are upfront about this, um, scam, so I suggest you rent from the honest ones.
Always do your homework, great advice!
Ryanair landing
I think Spirit got Ryanair beat slightly lol
The Runway is elevated on an upslope making the aircraft contact the ground very quickly.
