    Wurkkos TD03 - A 'Tactical' light for people who don't like tactical flashlights!
    General thoughts after a week of usage/size comparison/practicality/interesting things:
    • I reviewed the TD04 the other day, and some of you asked if I could review the TD03 - so I reached out to Wurkkos and they sent me this sample for review! The TD03 is a bit different from the other TD series lights, as it has a rotating switch on the back that allows you to select between lock, stepped, and tactical modes. This allows you to use this light one-handed, whilst still being able to access a variety of modes. The interface reminds me a bit of some Nextorch lights with a similar feature.
    • What you get in the box: light itself, 18650 battery, lanyard, USB-C charging cable, instruction manual.
    • Comparison with TD01,2,3,4.
    Overall Construction, LED, lens, bezel and reflector
    • Good quality construction, especially at this price point. No rough spots or inconsistencies. Grippy matt black anodizing. The head has a slightly larger diameter than the body, but it's barely noticeable. I think it's worth it, as it means Wurkkos can fit a larger reflector in there. The knurling is grippy and pronounced, similar to that of the TD02.
    • Single-sided pocket clip, not deep carry. Good call, due to the rotating switch. Speaking of which is quite simple to operate. The metal tail-switch is recessed and requires a confident press to activate. Battery indication light near the base of the head. Onboard USB-C charging on the rear too.
    • Aluminium, crenulated bezel - wouldn't be ideal for striking or breaking glass. But does give the light a nice accented finish. SFT40 paired with SMO reflector for maximum throw. The bezel is unscrewable which is great if you are planning some mods.
    UI - modes
    • Lock - only momentary strobe is accessible, press and hold
    • Stepped mode - almost like a duty mode, so press the tail switch to cycle LMHT
    Performance - total output, beam profile, longevity, practicality
    • Ceiling bounce test, CRI, CCT
    • Impressive throw - even better than the TD02/3! I like the intense hotspot you get with the SFT40 + a decent amount of usable spill.
    Considerations
    • Would like a dual-stage switch where momentary turbo was accessible. On the lock mode, you can only access strobe which also has a slight delay. The quick access to turbo through the rotating switch is a great trade-off though.
    • Non-regulated FET driver - this is common with low-mid priced flashlights out there, but keep in mind that the brightness will drop, the longer you run this light.
    Verdict
    • This is an impressive throwy light from Wurkkos that fits somewhere between a tactical and EDC flashlight. I think it's perfect if you are someone who needs quick access to turbo/strobe, but also just as easily be able to access some lower modes for general use. It comes with everything you need in the box and would be perfect as a gift too.

    I have this one for night time urban strolling. Checking for dog shit, junkies. Can very quickly blind someone with it. excellent for security. And it's a very tough light. I'm always dropping it

    I have the td03 and its my absolute go to light. It is so simple to use and so effective at getting to what setting you want in mere miliseconds. Literally before i even have the light pointed at what i want and pullin it out if my pocket i will have it in my desired setting. I really like how its a warmer light too and the beam and throw is very nice. Imo its one if the best tacticle lights out

    Miss seeing this at your usual location for reference. Been wanting to get this for awhile now...I just already have P16, L17 and Ts11 as smallish throwers. This has rotary and nice tint is how I'm trying to rationalize it lol...problem is I also want the DL16 (on sale $20us) the TD02 and the TLF(wk03 gold) ✌️

    9:55 I think you said everything about this flashlight and why it replaced my fc12. It's a good mix of EDC and self defense. Thank you for considering my comment 👍

    Enjoyed this review immensely, good job Darren! 👍 I didn't think you'd make a review of the TD03 as this isn't exactly a recent model. 😀
    You mentioned: _"Impressive throw - even better than the TD02/3!"_ But this IS the TD03 that is being reviewed. Was this spoken in error in the video? Or did you mean to say "TD02/4" instead? 🙂
    I searched the video for the very, very brief part in which your right fingers twirled the rotary magnetic switch. Did it require some effort or was it easy peasy to turn the tail knob? I figured that if Wurkkos designed the rotary switch at the back, it better be easy to change the modes with one hand. It also seems that the TD03 doesn't seem to offer an Eco or Moonlight mode. The TD04 does go into Moonlight mode when the tactical thumb switch is depressed while also pressing the side switch but for some odd reason the Sofirn SP35T doesn't.
    Oh, another thing: does the TD03 have anti-reflective coating on the glass? So far none of my Sofirn lights have AR treatment on the lens, but I noticed that the TS22, FC13 and TD04 have the magenta-purplish AR coating. The huuuge TS23 which I bought recently also doesn't come with that anti-reflective layer - what a shame for a relatively pricey flashlight (well, I bought it only when it was heavily discounted) that was once called the Aplos T03. 🔦😑
    I'm looking for my sixth and final Wurkkos flashlight and was wondering if I should get the TD03 or a second FC13 with a 5000K XHP50.2 instead of the 6000K SFT-40. 🤔

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  Před 23 dny +1

      Hi mate, yes I meant better throw than the TD02/TD04. I was down with the flu or something and sleep deprived making this recent batch of videos 😅 the rotating tailswitch does required some effort to turn it. So no need to worry. No AR coating on the lens.

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  Před 23 dny +1

      I prefer tailswitch lights more so I'd go this over the FC13. I have one and barely use it.

    • @StratmanII
      @StratmanII Před 23 dny

      @@DarrenYeoYT Ah, I see. Guess the TD03 also lacks the moonlight output. I'm not a fan of rotary switches as they rely on friction with the fingers and can be hard to turn if my hands are greasy. I'm happy with my TD04 as it's everything I've expected from a Wurkkos 21700 tactical flashlight. 😀
      Catch up with your sleep and you'll feel much better mate! 😴💤

    I think in terms of self defense, nothing can beat the over 60k candela of MH-12 pro, even though it is much more expensive than any budget brands, I think skimping on performance of self-defense tools is a bad idea. Also. to me carries as easily as most 18650s. Would love to see a review of it btw.

    • @Mr.Thermistor7228
      @Mr.Thermistor7228 Před 22 dny

      this td03 is no slouch when it comes to its strobe for self defense. not onnly can it instanntly be dpployed from any setting on the light, its beam and candela are no match for an incoming aggresor. it is absolutely blinding the shlt out of someone and eliminating there ability to see. i dont doubt that the mh12 is great, but this is certainly well up for the task

  • @WilliamsKnifeLife
    @WilliamsKnifeLife Před 23 dny +1

    I have that light somewhere, but I can't find it right now. My only issue with the light is it can turn on in the presence of a strong magnetic field. The magnetic has to be near the rotary switch. It doesn't latch the light on, but it can be turned on to turbo mode if it sits next to another flashlight with a magnetic base. Most people won't have an issue with that. I noticed it because I sometimes put many different flashlights 🔦 in a box.

    • @DarrenYeoYT

      Interesting, had no idea.. but that's a good point in case anyone stores their lights in the same case. Maybe unscrew the tailcap a bit
