Where Does The Word EMO Come From?

- Welcome to EMO 101! In addition to my History of EMO and History of Midwest EMO videos, I wanted to create a shorter video that goes over the history of the word EMO. I'm not sure if any other genres can trace it's name to an exact point but EMO can. I also talk about the EMO Copypasta.
Never Normal is where I talk about Emo, Punk, Pop Punk, Ska, Metal, Rock music and everything under the Alternative music genre. I talk about bands like Rites of Spring, American Football, Blink 182, Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, Paramore to Modern Baseball, Title Fight, Touche Amore, Joyce Manor, Hot Mulligan and festivals like When We Were Young and Riot Fest.

I like to separate Emo into four waves
1st Wave: Classic Emo (Rites of Spring, Embrace, adjacent bands like Orchid and Fugazi)
2nd Wave: Golden Age of Emo (Sunny Day Real Estate, Mineral, The Promise Ring, older Jimmy Eat World adjacent to Midwest Emo like American Football)
3rd Wave: Mall Emo (newer Jimmy Eat World, Taking Back Sunday, the Used, MCR, Say Anything, and terrible bands that we don't talk about)
4th Wave: Midwest Revival (Modern Baseball, Origami Angel)
I think 4th gen could include bands line pierce the veil maybe

emo revival bands like mobo arent midwest emo, OA is 5th wave if anything

I think bands like MCR and Fall Out Boy have a bit of legitimacy in terms of being emo, at least in terms of history and influences.
Mcr’s first album is absolutely emotional hardcore
