  • Mike takes you through the process of changing your gear oil and adjusting chain tension on a Skidoo Rev Gen4 snowmobile. The process is super easy, and shouldn't take you more than a couple of minutes.

    Agree, just leave the pin in. I think you should mention that it is only finger tight. I realize that you didn't show adding a 3/8 socket wrench, but the 3/8 extension may lead people to believe you are using a socket wrench to tighten it.

      @sledaddicz  Před 3 lety

      That's a good point! You are correct as we are using the 3/8 extension just to grab onto and hand tighten. And yes, no need to remove the pin. Thanks for tuning in! Cheers,
      Jesse

    Hey Mike, I have 2 '21 MXZ Sport 600 EFI's. I reached out to my AMSOIL rep to buy the same oil you're using here and he said I need the Severe Gear 75w-140, which is also what the website recommends. Just curious why you're using this gear oil insteadof what AMSOIL recommends for our machines?

    • @sledaddicz
      @sledaddicz  Před 3 lety +1

      The Severe Gear oil is a lot more expensive, so while they recommend it - its not needed. As long as you are running a good synthetic, you are ok. I have been using this stuff for years as Royal always has it. Haven't tried the newer Severe line but I have never had any issues with their basic synthetic stuff. Cheers, Mike.

    No need to remove the cotter pin. Just finger snug the adjuster. And that’s it.

    • @sledaddicz
      @sledaddicz  Před 3 lety

      You are correct. I never removed it when I tightened my chain. Thanks for tuning in! Cheers,
      Jesse

    Nice job. Great explanation. Did you tighten the chain by hand or did you put a handle on the extension

    • @sledaddicz
      @sledaddicz  Před 2 lety

      We hand tightened using the extension. Never use a handle as you will over torque it.
      Cheers,
      Jesse

      @@sledaddicz cool. Thank you. When yours is set do you have movement in the secondary. Some videos say no movement both my 600 aces have movement.

    • @sledaddicz
      @sledaddicz  Před 2 lety

      Our 850s have no movement in the secondary but that may be a result of the pdrive clutch. I believe the secondary in ace series engines do have a bit of movement. Cheers,
      Jesse

    Do you have to pull pin? It tightens without pulling the pin.

    • @sledaddicz
      @sledaddicz  Před 2 lety

      Nope you don't have to actually pull the pin. I do...Cheers, Mike

    You don’t need to remove your cotter key to tension your chain. The adjuster bolt is flat on 2 sides so every half revolution you will here a click it’s really convenient for adjusting on the fly not that you should have to.

    • @sledaddicz
      @sledaddicz  Před 3 lety

      Yep! I told Mike he didn't need to remove the pin yet he did anyways. Oh well lol. Cheers,

    Where did you get the squeeze bottle?

    • @sledaddicz
      @sledaddicz  Před 3 lety

      Haha. Samsung Galaxy Watch. Its the best of the best. Jesse converted me from all Apple to Samsung a few years back and I don't regret it! The tech in these phones and watch are unreal, and surpass the capabilities of the iPhone and Apple watch by a long shot. Cheers,
      Mike
