- This is a tribal village in Purulia. The details of the village is as follow:
Village - Balakdi
Anchal - Kenda
Block - Puncha
Sub Division - Manbazar
District - Purulia
The life style of the villagers that we witnessed is pathetic.
Finally, the Mahavidyalaya Praktani Executive Committee, RKMRC Narendrapur, has decided to adopt this village in the long term basis. We shall start with educating the children of this village and slowly but surely the rest part will be taken care of. Jai Thakur, Maa and Swamiji… Let us pray for the inhabitants of BALAKDI and other villages like this.

আমাদের অনেকের দুটো তিনটে করে বিভিন্ন শহরে ঘর কিন্তু এই সব মানুষের মাথার উপর ছাদ নেই। আশা করি ঠাকুর মা স্বামীজির যদি ইচ্ছা হয় এই জীবনে এই মানুষগুলোর জন্য অতি সামান্য কিছু করে যেতে পারব।

এই বিষয়ে বলতে গেলে অনেক কথা বলতে হবে। শুধু এটুকুই বলবো যে সরকার এদের জন্য খরচ করে। কিল্তু এদের কাছে সেটা পৌঁছায় না।

They just live with their life,better to say at the edge of life, without minimum facilities to be provided by the leastly bothered Democratic Government of our country. Unfortunately Mahaswetadevi is no more.But remarkably these people, the Sabar, one of the oldest tribes of our country still carrying the original qualities,virtues of mankind like pure joy,hospitality and melodious expression of their everyday ,toughest life.The song is not an elegy, it is expression of rebuke and complaint .Looking forward what all of you ,the Respected monks and others can do for their livelihood.Grateful for your responsible and important documentation🙏
Yes I understood that it was a complaint against the stand of the government. Though I could not understand their language, in the middle of the song they mentioned the word ‘Sarkar’ and from there I understood that they were saying about their daily life and the problems they face.. This song cannot be classic, rather it has been composed to share their present condition with outsiders. Whatever it maybe, let us hope for the best outcome.

Just one small correction-the people shown here are all Kheria Sabars, the organisation is called Paschim Banga Kheriya Sabar Kalyan samity.
The late writer activist Mahashweta devi worked closely with this organization, though she also worked for Lodha sabars as stated here.The lodha sabars differ from these Kheria people, they are more advanced and well educated and are economically better off.
