    I can’t say enough good things about water holes, shot my deer last year over a water hole just like this!! Well done Jeff!!

    Nice info. I have used these tanks to water cattle, same problem, not close to electric so I dug a post hole about 12 inches in diameter and about 4 to five foot deep straight down then installed a 12 inch pipe and made it where it meets the bottom of the tank, similar to a geothermo system of heating . Doesn't keep it from freezing when it gets really cold but does seem to keep water from freezing sooner in the year. Might try that, might help. I am around north central KY.

    Jeff, what do you do with your water tanks during Winter? Keep them filled or do you need to empty them before they freeze hard? Thank you

    How small of diameter trees have you put a treestand in? Our current treestand tree got blown over during the storm so the trees around it are like 8-9 inches in diameter

    Anybody have any tips on how to fill a water hole that’s about 1/2-3/4 mile deep in the woods, when you don’t have access to a ATV or the like? Best I can think of is filling up a 40gallon water bladder and making multiple trips with either the bladder stuffed in a ruck, or with a wheelbarrow. Anyone do anything similar?

      Hi Taylor! A frame pack and water container works well! In that case ingo with the 110 gallon tank from TSC. It's about $80, and is 22" high. I then only full 1/3 way and hope for rain. I add more soil in the bottom too

    Hey Jeff I got a river running through the middle of my property we float it with kayaks in the summer but do you have anything for that I got so many spots that deer go to the river and drink

    • @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751
      @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751  Před rokem +1

      Hi Gaige, it just really depends on if the deer are traveling from dry bedding to food or bedding somewhere else. Then they will hit the water you provide.

    Does it matter why color your tanks are? At our local farm and country store they have large 1000 gallon tanks but they are blue. All the ones I have now are black. So if you have a blue tank underground would that be ok?

    • @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751
      @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751  Před rokem +1

      Hi Beau! I don know why, but I always shade towards black and brown if they had them. Something that blends. I don't think it would matter? But you never know. If something appeared like a block of white or light gray on the ground I wonder but have no experience to know otherwise...

    How many yards to place water from a feeder where a you have deer coming to in between feeder and bedding area going to feeder

    • @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751
      @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Hi Kara! I like to look for a funnel of some kind...but far enough away that you can take advantage of diff rent access routes and not spook deer from the food source. Maybe even a slightly different wind direction.

    First season with a water hole. They don’t seem to mind the dirty water. What about all the mosquito larvae growing in it? Should I treat it with anything?

    I have 47 acres on a river, about 500 yards is water front so it’s more rectangle shaped. How would you approach a water hole position? Or would you plan to work around the natural source?

    • @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751
      @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751  Před rokem +1

      Hi Adam I would certainly add water away from the water that is natural!

      I was wondering the same thing. No shortage of water around me not sure id have any luck with your approach maybe I’m wrong but why would a deer drink from a stagnant scummy take vs a drink fed pond or brook?
