  • Innovation has had a significant effect on renewables with state-of-the-art technologies designed for meeting future needs.
This includes combining the most efficient and complementary clean energies, such as wind, photovoltaic solar and hydroelectric, within hybrid facilities.
The most common combination is that of a wind farm and a photovoltaic plant sharing the same point of connection to the electricity grid.
They can also include batteries for storing the energy and using it when most needed.
Their advantages include cost reductions, optimisation of space and making the electricity system more flexible.
The result of these combined facilities is a more stable and efficient supply: if one of the two power plants is unable to produce electricity, the other remains available. For example, in the absence of sunlight, the wind farm keeps producing, and vice versa.
Technological advances for boosting the production of clean energy and continuing the fight against climate change.
