(since they are about a century old + their human age... if I remember right) while Kotoha have met Douma about 14 years ago. (it is not really precised, but if we want Inosuke to be able to remember things, he would need to be around 2 or 3... then again, this is an anime, so what age people can remember things is not necesseraly realitic) but even without it, Inosuke is about the same age as Tanjiro, so 15/16 years old (if I remember right). For the Kotoha thing... If we are to believe the sub-text of what he said, yeah, he may not have killed her had she not run away, nor represented a threat (as in revealing he is a demon to his cult or that he eats people). Which, yeah, I guess Inosuke may have ended up in this scenario, to see Douma as a father figure. Kinda. (though, doesn't mean Douma loved Kotoha. He had an interest in her, due to the fact she was pretty and wa a good singer... but I think it would be closer to the interest you have toward your pet bird at most. Sure, you may love it but... not the way you love a romantical partner)
