Hi Spencer! I just got back from the missions trip to Paraguay a few days ago and I wanted to share a special moment that took place. One night the Team and I were invited to a night of Worship & Prayer at one of the Missionaries house. And they asked me to lead worship and I happily agreed. One of the languages they speak is Spanish and during one of the songs I led, some of us including myself sang in English and some began singing in Spanish. It was a beautiful moment of us passionately lifting our voices to the Lord, sharing testimonies and praying. It was quite clear to me that the Holy Spirit was moving in all of us that night. It’s a moment I will never forget.

I would also add that different ethnic cultures express emotions differently. This can impact worship expressions as well.

I'm not a Catholic, but I think those old-timey Catholic (traditional) services had a point. Kinda think the worship team should face away from the congregation, and put their faces up toward GOD. They aren't supposed to be performing for us, and us watching. They are supposed to be leading worship to GOD.

"(Stage) presence"?? Are we seeking to exalt God or looking for entertainment? The LORD is enthroned upon the praises of His people. So much of "worship" has been turned into SELF-centeredness, theater and emotionalism. Too often you can hear it in the lyrics of songs. If you look at a traditional hymnal and compare the words to what passes for worship songs in contemporary Christian music you'll see how SELF-centeredness saturates too many songs, rather than God being foremost and central. Now, I'm NOT someone who is anti-CCM. There are newer songs that theologically line up very well with past hymns. I think too often worship is reduced to singing songs on Sunday. What's the point in doing that while one is being disobedient during the week?
