Word on the street is that dirty diana was a reference to diana Ross. He had a huge crush on her and in the early 80s they hung out a lot. One of her hair dressers said that when they were filming the wiz, Mike and Diana spent the night clubbing and ended up back at her house and when asked about it she said I can you tell one thing, he’s not gay. She started entering her concerts to this song in the late 80s. She got married suddenly in 85 or 86 & he was said to be upset. This song was said to be a dig at her. Not sure what’s true or not, but that’s what I pieced together.

I love the story that he told when he went to England to perform for the royal family, this was when Princess Diana was still married to Prince Charles. She came up to talk to MJ and had asked if he was going to play "Dirty Diana". He told her that he took it out of the show as respect to her but she said that it was her favorite song. LOL I'm sure they're in heaven rocking out to "Dirty Diana". 😎👍

Not sure how true this is, but the Word on the Street was that MJ wrote this song about Diana Ross!! He had a thing for her since he was a kid in J5, and they supposedly hooked up for a bit when he became an adult, and when she got married, he was very hurt. But again, this is just speculation!!

The guitarists he had before Slash, were Eddie Van Halen,Jennifer Batten and Steve Stevens. Jennifer batten also continued to go on his last two tours with Michael.
