  • In this video I will show you how Google Home works with Nest and Philips Hue products. By using Google's AI called Google Assistant you can control anything from lights, to thermostats, to cameras in your house. This is the beginning of creating a smart home.

Do you have to download an app to stream nest cams on tv?

How great would it be if it could distinguish where you wanted to play "content" on TV based on which device you are speaking to. Same with lights and such, that'd be cool!

It does that now. Only tried it with lights and it works. I have only one chromecast.

Does the Google Home and the Google Home mini have the same features?

These videos can stop your computer voices activating google by simply saying OKG instead of OK Google in full. I'm sure we'll all understand.

Hey nice video 👍 i have 2 google homes and love them. one in the living room and the other in the bedroom. When I set the alarm in the living room and it goes off I am unable to turn it off by talking to my bedroom google home. Am I missing something?

can you tell me why my google home will not understand the hey google command when it's coming from my nest cam? for example this video sets off my google home immediately however when I'm away from my house and I login to my nest app and say "hey google" via living room cam talk button, google home will not trigger.

How many lights are you controlling in the house. Besides the strip lights?

The bridge communicates with up to 50 devices: lights, motion sensors, strips, dimmer switches, etc.

Thermostat is usually $200-250, Phillips LED strips around $60, Google Home or Hub $60-100.

Why is Google always slow to roll out changes to the UK. Can't turn on the TV, can't make calls. :(
BTW - Thanks for the video.

Kofi O tell it to use netflix and it will turn on the TV.

Tristan Nathaniel I've managed to get the power on working now but power off does not work. Apparently this is something that is not unusual and is common with certain models of TV.

It's the fault of the TV for not having the proper updated standard built in. In order to fix it you will have to get a new tv that supports it or a device (like the logitech harmony hub) that shoots an IR beam to turn it on as if it was your remote. This isn't the google home's fault.

Cool but too complicated. I'd rather just push a button then give all these commands.

    • @bigboat8329

Fireworld You can set that up too. You can just say "set away mode" and once you set that up through an app called IFTTT it will do things like turn down your thermostat, turn all the lights off and start recording security footage through your nest cams. You tell it things so do when you say the keyword so that it will do evweything at once after you set it up. You can do stuff like this by saying key words and it will set it to a combination of things you wanted it to do after you set it up. You can set up all sorts of things like "okay Google, goodnight" and it will turn all the lights off and dim the ones in your bedroom, turn down the thermostat, arm your security system and lock the doors if you have a smart lock on your doors, for example. All this is pretty simple to do through one or two apps on your phone.
