Nowadays with advanced cars being able to see all around a 360 view I have three GoPros that are in my car I stream to friends and family a lot of times well this Halloween I didn't know it at the time I was sitting in my car texting on my phone somebody came up to my car while I was texting in my head sets I hear look out by several people now I know I all alone and there can't be any one there so they told me that a clown walk up to my car when I turn because I didn't believe them the clown mask scared me to the point I put the car in reverse and got the h out of there now the GoPro saw it before I was ever conscience of it others from other states and other places saw it way before I did because I was concentrating on my phone I would have never imagined a clown on my property the security cameras showed how he walked up to the car and scared the life out of me and if it was suggested then the cameras would not have picked it up at the house of him walking it was my neighbor playing a Halloween joke on me that went too far cameras do pick up everything we are the one distracted

It's not aliens, it's either "us" (real humans) or AI. I lean towards AI. The multiverse theory does not seem possible in a physical reality, but in a simulated reality, it is not just possible, it is likely. My theory is that whoever created our simulation most likely ran multiple instances of our simulation just to see what differences will develop.

If you think about it then you will realize that it does not matter if this is a simulation or not because the results are the same.
To inquire about reality is to discover the escape. Whether IRL or in a sim, wouldn't you want to decide for yourself which life you want live?

@@Kidd-nt3jo Nick Bostrom of the University of Oxford wrote a seminal paper about the simulation argument in 2003. Nick Bostrom imagined a technologically adept civilization that possesses immense computing power and needs a fraction of that power to simulate new realities with conscious beings in them. Given this scenario, his simulation argument showed that at least one proposition in the following trilemma must be true: First, humans almost always go extinct before reaching the simulation-savvy stage. Second, even if humans make it to that stage, they are unlikely to be interested in simulating their own ancestral past. And third, the probability that we are living in a simulation is close to one.
Dreams are a great example of simulation theory.

We are not usually aware that we are in a dream until we wake up, otherwise we would have behaved very differently inside our dreams.

It may no be the brain that's doing that. The brain may simple be a conduit for consciousness, like a two-way radio transceiver. Brain is an object. Consciousness is subject.

Everything we know about reality is based on our senses feeding information into our brains. Unfortunately our senses have a very limited range and what we can actually sense are just an extremely tiny slice of reality.
Without subjective experience i.e. consciousness, there is no capacity to experience what our senses feed us. So everything we know is only due to our being conscious in the first place.

We dont even have a scientific definition for consciousness in any of the main branches of science - physics, biology, neurosci, math, computation, etc But sure, why can't an AI become conscious? For what it's worth, I may as well toss this into the mix.
Many years ago, my uncle said something that has stuck with me. He was talking about the nature of life and consciousness rather than the simulation hypothesis, but I think that what he said is of interest here. I think that his statement was eloquent and I reproduce it here as best I can remember it.
"We know that a cell of an adult mammal, when placed in an appropriate environment, can arrange matter around it to form a copy of that mammal. This cell is composed of chemical structures, which are composed of molecules, which are composed of smaller elements that, taken separately, are generally considered to be devoid of life.
"These elements, in their turn, are composed of subatomic particles which are composed of still smaller particles which, at the most basic level, appear to be nothing more than localized distortions in the fabric of spacetime which continuously flicker in and out of existence in ways that I don't pretend to understand.
"So, we have tiny regions of twisted nothing, surrounded by lots more nothing, interacting in regular and increasingly complex aggregations until they display the characteristics that we call life, and ultimately, intelligence."
Again, while he was not specifically talking about the simulation hypothesis, his description above brings into focus the surprisingly illusory nature of what we perceive as the physical universe. One could go so far as to say that it is a reasonable description of a simulation.
I observe here that most of the people discussing this topic seem to be approaching it with the view that we are somehow fundamentally distinct from the simulation; that the simulation is created and maintained by some outside being(s) or force(s) which have immersed us (whatever "we" are) into it. I don't think there is any reason to assume this. If it is true, then where are "we" actually located? In some other universe? What, then, is that universe made of?
In order for us to exist at all as conscious beings, the stuff that we are made of must be fluid in nature. It must be able to change as our thoughts change from one moment to the next. My uncle's description of our universe does exactly that. It is a shimmering sea of energy that is in constant flux, in which energy is focused in different places into different configurations that ultimately take on the characteristics of stars, of rocks, of beetles, of human beings.
If this universe is a mere simulation and we are immersed in it from outside, then whatever other universe that "we" are actually located in must have the same fluidity as this one for us to exist as consciousness. And if that is the case, then what basis is there to assume that THAT universe is not a simulation?
I think that our universe is a simulation in one sense, but not in another. It is not solid as it appears to us. That part is illusion. But the energy that underlies that illusion is quite real, and we ourselves are made of that same energy. We do not exist separately from this universe. We perceive ourselves as distinct from one another and from the objects around us. But that, too, is illusory. In reality all things, including us, are the same sea of energy, focused in different places into different aspects so that we may perceive, observe, manipulate, and make sense of them. This means that on a fundamental energetic level, just as there is no distinct division between me and the desk I am sitting at, there is fundamentally no distinct division between me and the person in the next room, or a person on the next continent. We are all one seamless, continuous sea of energy. And if I hurt another person, that hurt will resonate from them into that sea and ultimately return to myself.
“The physical universe itself is formed from the convergence and amalgamation of many other individual universes, each one of which were
created by an immortal spiritual being or group of IS-BEs. The collision of these illusory universes commingled and coalesced and were solidified to form a mutually created universe. Because it is agreed that energy and forms can be created, but not destroyed, this creative process has continued to form an ever-expanding universe of nearly infinite physical proportions.”
Your uncle's musings about life, consciousness, and the fabric of the universe really make you ponder, you know? He delves into this idea that a cell from a grown-up mammal, when in the right setup, can whip up a whole replica of that mammal. It's like this chain of building blocks - cells made of chemicals, chemicals made of molecules, and molecules made of these tiny bits that, on their own, don't scream "life."
Then he takes it further, talking about these bits being made of even tinier subatomic particles, which are basically just blips in the spacetime fabric, doing their flickering dance. It's a wild ride from twisted nothings to the complexity of life and intelligence.
What strikes me is how people discussing this simulation thing often think of us as separate from it, like someone's pulling the strings from outside. But where are we even located if that's true? In some other universe? And what's that made of?
For us to be conscious beings, the stuff we're made of has to be flexible, right? It's got to change as our thoughts zip around. And when I think of ur uncle's description - this shimmering, ever-shifting energy sea that turns into stars, rocks, beetles, and us - it's like, what if this universe is a simulation, but not in a fake way? It's not solid; that's the illusion. But the energy underneath is real, and guess what, we're made of the same stuff.
So, we're not separate entities floating in some simulated space. We're part of this fluid universe, connected on an energetic level. The illusion is this idea of me, you, and the desk being distinct. We're all just different ripples in the same energy sea. And if I mess with someone, that mess ripples through the sea and bounces back to me. It's a wild thought, isn't it?

Given the hierarchical nature of the universe described above, starting with localized distortions of spacetime and building in organization and complexity to living organisms, at what exact point does "consciousness" manifest itself?
We agree that humans have consciousness. Our closest relatives, the apes, demonstrate complex reasoning and the use of language, so presumably they are conscious as well. The same is true of marine mammals. Other mammals such as dogs and crows do not demonstrate the use of complex language but they are clearly able to communicate with each other, and with us if we know how to listen. Presumably they are conscious in some degree.
Ants communicate things appropriate to their needs by using chemical signals, and they demonstrate organizational skills that allow a colony to accomplish things that the individuals never could by themselves. There is obviously some degree of consciousness here, perhaps a lesser degree than our own, but it is still present. Moreover, communication between ants enables the entire colony to behave as if it has a form of consciousness as well. The colony is able to gather food, react to threats and make decisions about its welfare, as if the consciousness in the individual ants is added together to create a more capable consciousness.
Jellyfish are a similar case. They do not have brains but they accomplish all the necessary functions of eating and reproduction because they are composed of specialized cells which take care of specific tasks in the same way that ants do in their colonies. Jellyfish have rudimentary nervous systems and are able to react to outside stimuli, so their constituent cells are obviously communicating with each other and they are aware of the things that are important to them.
What if consciousness is not a question of "you have it or you don't," but rather a question of degree? Amoebas and tardigrades accomplish the same things as jellyfish in their respective domains. Recently it has been discovered that even trees communicate with each other about things that affect their survival. Like the so-called "higher" animals, all of these creatures are aware of the things that are important to them, so each of them can be said to have that degree of consciousness.
Now, just as it is not clear where "lifeless" collections of subatomic particles become "living" organisms, it is also not clear where those same particles become conscious beings. What if consciousness is not limited to "living" creatures, but is distributed throughout the sea of energy that we perceive as the physical universe? And, in the same way that the energy of the universe is organized in different structures to create the appearance of physical objects and living beings, the consciousness that permeates that energy is likewise focused, in varying degrees, in those same structures? Thus, you and I, and the dolphins and amoebas and yes, my desk and the planets and the stars, are fundamentally inseparable parts of one infinite consciousness. At the same time, we are also our individual selves, creations of that infinite consciousness. In a very real sense, we are "the universe observing itself."
I'd like to recommend to you a book called "The Holographic Universe" by Michael Talbot. It is non-fiction, and it explores the idea of our energetic nature and interconnectedness through the discoveries of two scientists working in completely different fields who independently arrived at this same conclusion. The book was published in 1991 so it is long out of print, but there are book search websites where you can get a used copy. I think you will enjoy it and find it as enlightening as I did.

@@mph650 In my view, our energy doesn't really "transfer back" into the energetic realm of the universe upon our death because it has been there the whole time. Our consciousness is presently focused in what we perceive as this physical universe, but it is only our *focus* that is here.
Our actual *being* exists as a wave in the infinite ocean of energy that is the universe. The physical body that you presently inhabit (or appear to inhabit) is an illusion created from energy just as all the rest of the apparent "physical universe" is. The structure that appears to be your brain is in some way attuned to the unique pattern of energy that is your being (some would use the word "soul" here). The result is that you perceive yourself to exist in this body, look out through its eyes, manipulate the world through its hands, etc., but this is only a perception. The actual *you* is an infinite pattern of energy distributed throughout the universe, even during the time that you perceive yourself as inhabiting this body.
I find that it helps to visualize this in terms of a glove box. You have probably seen photos of them: usually a clear acrylic box with a pair of long gloves fastened at its cuffs through holes in one of the walls. A medical technician, NASA researcher, etc., will put their hands into the gloves to manipulate something inside the box, usually so that what is inside the box won't be contaminated by what is outside it or vice versa. Consider the person using the glove box: he is able to interact with the world inside the box but he is never actually inside it. He exists in a larger universe outside, even while his focus is on what he is doing in the box.
C.S. Lewis used a somewhat similar metaphor in his novel "The Great Divorce." Near the end of the story, the protagonist has a vision of a number of enormous silent figures gathered around a little silver table. These beings are apparently observing the actions of miniature people on the table who are going about their business and interacting with each other. It is then explained to him that the enormous beings are the immortal souls of men and women, and the figures on the table are how we perceive each other in the physical world. Each being has its own figure on the table through which it interacts with the figures of the others, and the little table is Time.
Upon our "death," the physical body merely ceases to be a viable conduit. The cells and DNA and chemical processes that keep the body functioning are subject to the laws of the physical universe, and for various reasons they eventually degrade to the point where the organism ceases to function as an organism. When the brain ceases to function, the energetic being that was attuned to that brain is no longer able to interact with it, and the being's *focus* is thus released from that body. It is then free to place its focus elsewhere; either to observe the physical world from the outside, or to interact with the energetic realm directly, or perhaps to place its focus into another physical body that is created for it, either in this physical world or perhaps a different physical world entirely.
Notice that there is no reason to assume here that the energetic being that is you was created at the moment when its physical body was created. Indeed, I think there is every reason to assume the opposite: that you and I have pre-existed, perhaps since the creation of the universe itself, and that we take on many different lifetimes to gain many different experiences and perspectives in order to pursue our own perfection.

If it's proven that we live in a simulation, I don't think it would be too shocking in general since most people seem to believe in an everlasting spiritual world, like from religion, that's mostly independent of our perceived physical world. If you view life as a test or developing your soul/character, it doesn't really matter if it's done in base reality or a simulation.
Is morality not based on our perceived basic understanding of life? And so if reality was determined to be a simulation, surely this would have a profound effect on our view of morality?
I agree, simulation or not, the test of your morality is the same, and so are the consequences to your soul. Allowing envy, greed, and hate to direct your actions might result in a far worse outcome than can even be imagined.
The thing is that time is sequential here and we learn the effect that our actions take. Where we come from and where we'll all return time is not sequential. Think of it and it's there instantly.

there in an ancient saying in India that says " sab prabhu ki maya he "- "everything is just gods illusion" . and the saying goes way way before " "plato" . the is a story about Krishn , Narad and maya in Vedas where Krishn sends Narad(because he became a little arrogant) into a world of illusion where he gets married, have children and then everyone does in a storm and cries for them only to be jolted out of the illusion and find out that what he thought as years spent and family killed were just nano seconds . he is taken out of that illusion .
Three years ago during the Great Conjunction I woke during the night and while I still recognised my room, all of a sudden I had this confusion that this wasn't the planet I really came from, I had this total detachment from my whole life and this absolute unbelievable feeling of peace and calmness, it's something I've never felt before or since, I had no anger I had no rage I felt like I was lost in between two worlds and the only way to get back to the world I truly believed I came from was to die, and then I'd be home, this feeling lasted for 4/5 days, looking outside at people on the street they looked and felt like Aliens and I felt once again a total detachment from this world.
I've absolutely no idea why that happened and how it happened like it did, but for a short while I did feel something truly absolutely out of this world to my normal feelings and consciousness, so I truly hope there is this other place we experience once we die, until then I'm stuck here.
I’ve had this exact same feeling dude seriously I’ve even had a dream about God or somebody like I’m not from here either and I felt this all my life then one day I had this dream and look. I’ll just say this when I was young I did a lot of bad things I didn’t kill nobody or anything like that but I did a lot of chaotic stuff. I grew up and quit doing all that, but it was like I was here to learn something one day and one of my dreams I had and I remember this drink perfectly, because I woke up and wrote it down. That’s how much it affected me. I had been real depressed, hooked on drugs all kinds of bad things already stopped doing the methamphetamines been stopped for quite some time But in this dream, my biggest fear is heights something told me to open my eyes I was on a roller coaster cart in the atmosphere of Mars floating up and down, scared to death thinking I was gonna die. When I finally did open my eyes, I was standing there before a man with long hair, goldish brown skin could not make out his face, and all he said was, you are forgiven go live your lifeman that made my hair stand up and it was real man I know it was real. I know this isn’t the only life I don’t know what I would say to thrive, survive, and just chase your dreams.
I have felt for many years I did not originate on this planet. It has a very low frequency, very evil laden and one that gives me the heebie jeebies. I am on autopilot all the time. I function like anyone, but checked out long ago. This definitely is not my home. The place I belong to I refer to as a beautiful city. Part of the area looks like it is made of many crystals, some very very small, some larger than skyscrapers and also crystals in many other sizes. There is an area where you can see things from any area or point in existence. The citizens there come from a few different planetary systems and all of them are at peace. They have a special uniform that all of them wear. The uniforms look like baby blue and white in color. Someone is there that watches over the place and there are those there I refer to as guards. They guard the ruler and the citizens. They also do not like to involve themselves in the affairs of humans. Now, I either truly see this or I simply have a very overactive imagination. Which is it? I don't know because I have seen some of those things make appearances to a lesser degree in real before my very eyes that were reminders. Did my mind create the place? Is it real? Maybe and maybe not. I just know I never did belong to this low frequency world. It is quite a horrible experience. Now you know why I am on autopilot. I prefer to be home where my imagination took me long ago, a beautiful, peaceful place where all are happy forevermore.

You weren't hallucinating, most of us arent from Earth originally. We are here at Classroom Earth to learn in a very challenging free will holographic environment.
If we're a simulation then we are most likely being observed.
If we are being observed then our observers are very likely aware that we suspect we are a simulation.
If we were casually created, just for fun or out of curiosity, then you'd expect that our observers would be very interested in finding out we'd reached a stage where we figured out what was the truth, and they likely would begin interacting with us.
The fact that they do not suggests to me that we are not a casual or entertaining endeavor.
Our existence has some purpose and whoever is watching us has a vested interest in following certain rules to see how we behave on our own.
We serve some purpose. Perhaps educational, perhaps as a stark warning not to follow in our footsteps.

Point is that regardless of the mechanism, simulation theory says that reality is *computable*. But quantum physics is not computable! Simulation theory contradicts known physics.
I’m 50 now and I ponder reality and our perception of it at least once or twice a day. I never once pondered or questioned this reality as being a simulation until a few years ago. I now find the subject fascinating to say the least.
Then how do we discover the original or base reality… and if we do how do we know that it is the first not another sim …. What a conundrum!

I haven't read Hoffman's books or papers, but I have a hard time believing his mathematical models actually prove there is a 0% chance that evolutionary fitness could align with perceptual fidelity to reality. Hi, I'm surprised no one's tried to help you with this - let me try. 'Observed' just means 'detected by a measuring device' - it's not referring to human observers. So here's the short version: 'not observed' means that the measuring device is switched off, but of course the people doing the experiment are still there to SEE what's happening.
Here's more info if you want it: by adding a monitoring device that detects the number of electrons passing through each slit, during the experiment the detector typically shows that about half of the electrons go through the first slit, and the other half go through the second slit.
What scientists also discovered is that the pattern on the back panel looks more like what occurs with grains of sand than with subatomic particles. Rather than the expected multi-line interference pattern, the back screen shows only two lines, which correspond directly to the slits. For some reason, _the presence of the detector_ causes the electrons to behave more like particles than waves. However, if the scientists turn off the detector, the electrons once again behave like waves, spreading out on the back screen in an interference pattern.
So, in other words, turning the detector On or OFF changes the outcome of the pattern on the screen where the electrons hit. Some people believe that not only COULD we be living in a simulated universe, but we also almost certainly are. This is the reason: eventually, base reality will eventually create a simulated universe exactly like reality, even to the point where simulated programmers will create a simulated reality of their own. And then THAT reality will create a new simulated reality. And each of these realities will create many different, maybe millions of realities each. The percentage chance that we are living in the one reality which is actually real, is therefore very, very small.

False dichotomy. Logically, there's a spectrum of possibilities. You could look for a means of escape but then not take it. You could experiment with exploring boundaries just to see if there are any rules that you can 'bend' or even 'break'. You could attempt to communicate with the originators of the simulation, perhaps engaging in dialog. During this communication, you might find that the simulation has been a test, and the observers were waiting to see if anyone would notice and if they did notice, what they might do about it. There might be a prize for exploration... for pushing boundaries... for attempting to communicate... for participating in a discussion, etc. You might find that you're awarded some sort of acknowledgment (think 'achievement badges' or something similar). Perhaps this means that you would 'graduate' (whatever that may mean; perhaps to be let loose from your simulation confinement and to join the team of observers.

The question here would be what made you so sure you were not hallucinating? I had an experience once that made me realize how much I normally run on mental autopilot. I saw a guy jumping out of a fourth floor window (of the German cancer research center in Heidelberg, he probably got bad news from his doctor). I was on an errand at that point, and it took me almost ten seconds to realize what my eyes had clearly seen happening. Depending on your personality and the event happening to you, who knows, maybe something cracked in your meat computer.

Then I lost a Kennedy half dollar which I kept in my pocket since they were first produced. My wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and I wondered if I was losing everything. Then the Kennedy half dollar showed in my pocket. A couple of days later, as we were making the bed, it was in the bed near my the foot of the bed. I am a light sleeper and know I didn't put it there.
One person suggested it might be ghosts or evil entities. Probably as likely as living in a simulation. Like I mentioned, I am a trained scientist and very sceptical. If we're in a simulation whoever is running it has one heck of a since of humor, and is very good at it. 🤔😉

It's an entertaining notion; and humans have limited grasp of time, but I really don't think we'd be having an obesity epidemic, appalling leadership, mass stupidity etc. That's humanity's own doing.
In a video game where you're driving a car, how you drive is up to you. You can be careful, obeying all traffic signs, yielding to pedestrians, etc., or you can be pedal to the metal, speeding, running red lights, mowing down pedestrians, etc. These choices are your own doing. That doesn't make the video game *not* a simulation. The same holds for the simulation hypothesis: it very well could be programmed such that if you wanted to be self- or other-destructive, that's your own doing. But this doesn't mean that you're not in a simulation.

I remember a relative of mine took ill and started having hallucinations a few years ago. You soon realised it was pointless trying to convince them that they weren't real, to them they were very real and no amount of reasoning would make them belive otherwise. Thankfully they recovered, but they said it was like being in a dream/nightmare, but your not asleep.
Important lesson there: reality is subjective. When you argue with someone, always make sure first that you are both agreeing on the same set of basic facts.

10 years ago, my mom had a colonoscopy, and the doctors made mistakes and she had a heart attack and was dead for 7 minutes. The doctors who did the colonoscopy were not well trained and if it weren't for the rescue guys who revived her, she wouldn't be here today. The doctors left her for dead, and for 7 minutes the rescue guys tried to revive her until they succeeded. Days later, I asked her if she had any experience beyond life. She told me that there is nothing, that the only thing she knows is that you remember many things for an instant, and everything goes dark and you no longer know anything.

We have video game artificial realities that are generated by a copy of the software running on a PC at each player's house. When these players engage in Online Multiplayer activities, only the elements associated with each player are communicated between each PC. Perhaps the entire universe is a computational machine that exists on another plane or dimension where size, weight, corrosion, oxidation and electrical resistance don't exist and don't matter.
If this is a simulation, it would have to have been created by something. Why would that entity program the beings in the simulation to recognise the simulation? We would only know what we are programed to know, and nothing more. Are we all AI.

Otto Rössler called this hypothesis Microrelativity (1995!!). Unfortunately there couldn't be a UNIVERSAL program in principle, so our universe neither can be a simulation (because for this purpose a universal program is required).
The presumption that there must be a universal program is a bias. There may be several programs running in a multi-threaded manner that communicate with each other, and each having a few particular 'constants' that differ ever so slightly so as to keep that particular domain stable, while across different domains each has it's own slight variation of particular constants in order to maintain their own stability. Our preference to imagine a universal program isn't logically necessary; it's just a preference.
The goal of the simulation is to make more simulations with the hope that one reflects base reality. We were pretty close with pong, but we decided on 2D instead of 1D. The only reason this is still going is bc base reality researchers are hoping to get more funding, it was close.

Considering Black Holes have the 'events horizon', i'd guess when light/energy enters, it becomes decoherent inside of it like in the double-slit expriment. Inside the black hole, the wave-field is directly affected leading to a conserved gravity effect.
Beyond our space, there's a Singularity Matrix Field that conserves information as an algorithm. So, everything that exists there's a recipe. This recipe exists in the SMF. An apple for example, if we scatter all its atoms inside a black hole, its information would be scattered in the SMF. If we could access the SMF, we'd be able to get the apple back. We just need its recipe.
See, we are singular out of SMF, because we are ordened information and entropy is how our universe deal with information. But once we are not part of SMF, our information is scattered in the SMF, but its information is still preserved by it.

FINALLY, someone who can explain reality in understandable terms, thank you! Spacetime is something akin to an Event Horizon (Black Hole) and the underlying Quantum Foam that generates everting is "projected" through Spacetime (Holographic Universe). Great book that has a similar one called Holographic Mind, each talking about how base reality is not even close to what we think and how our mind/consciousness is connected/integrated. Funny though how all my theories about things these days are told in "Mechanical/Computer" metaphors. Simulation (Computer) Theory could easily be adjusted in terms of Spirit or Nature, in that we are in an "ocean" of something that is directly connected to The Source/Reality and we are "playing our part" and eventually go back or transfer to something else. Facinating topic, love this stuff. Understanding this will either open our minds and get us out of our funk or it will destroy us, we don't do good with big changes, revelations, someone will want to put a price tag on it 🙂

My biggest and most persuasive argument against the simulation hypothesis is that pain and suffering is real, very real.
If you have a toothache, a stomach ache, a headache, or any form of intense pain, then all notions of a simulated universe will immediately be wiped away.
That is a weak point. The simulation could very well program pain.

What if the pain that is simulated simply feels real? Like sun on your face or a cool breeze feels real. The idea that pain exists does not dismiss the idea of simulated universe
It just speaks to how detailed that simulation is. No one perceives this as a simulation no matter if you are in a hospital bed or feeling fantastic.
We would be right to question why one would simulate suffering. It's study in balance with the joy life can bring would be one conceivable genesis of such a detailed simulation.
My take on this theory is that advanced being found the formula for immortality and being bored they decided to go into the matrix to experience different lifetimes. This way they could experience the fear of death and experience new things that make them feel alive. The brain is wiped clean after every lifetime to prepare for the other one. The information is stored so that the immortal can experience all the memories of the lives lived after unplugging from the matrix. However sometimes the brain isn't wiped completely clean so there are memories of other lives lived ( we say we were reincarnated). Sometimes after living so many lives we experience a similar or identical experience that we call deja vu.
Now some Christians may say this is blasphemy but they theory doesn't reject God, if anything it supports the bible because God is the creator and the theory implies that there is a creator. Look towards the seven day creation, God created different things on different days so that all things can work in harmony. Now look at the process of creating a simulation like a game, they include light, water , animals and other stuff gradually to work in harmony.

Your brain is a hunk of meat encased in a bone enclosure. It has no ears to hear or eyes to see. When sound enters you rear canal, and when light enters your eyes, these are converted into electrical signals that your brain then has to reconstruct. You've never actually heard or seen anything. Now, consider your dreams. With your eyes closed, you have the experience that you're seeing, but there's no light entering your eyes to be converted into electrical signals. In dreams, you have the experience that you're hearing, but there aren't any sound waves entering your ear canals, etc.
Your entire existence is a simulation even if you 100% reject the simulation hypothesis. You're a brain in a vat, having experiences that you believe to be real but... you don't know for sure; you cannot know for sure.

The simulation theory isn’t just limited to the notion of a “supercomputer and algorithms” though. Our simulation (if that’s what our known universe is) could also be the dream of a higher dimensional being.
There are other ways that simulation theory could exist too, such as the higher self many-world constructionist model, in which your shared perception of our “known universe” is just ONE version of infinite avatar manifestations existing at the same time, testing and evolving a “higher self” that we all share, that chooses to evolve by experiencing infinite possibilities simultaneously. In this example, you (or your higher self rather) is both the murderer and the victim, though your lower self can only perceive one conscious experience at a time. The winner of a basketball championship AND the loser, the billionaire and the beggar, etc etc
This starts to tie into possible explanations for perceived “past lives” etc, though “simultaneous life” would be a more accurate description if that model were true.
Amazing video. I just watched/listened to "Neil deGrasse Tyson on Alien Life & The Fermi Paradox" and when i combine that with this scientific exploration, maybe this is why, we can't find other life forms.

It could be done on a dream type level where the mind is creating it no doubt, but then that would make us real somewhere else.

This could be something we stumble into sometime in the future. What happens when we have a running simulation with feeling beings, we'd probably (at some point) be morally obliged to allow them to live our their lives without erasing them or destroying them?

the problem is, morality is not tied to intelligence, we humans are intelligent, and we're capable of great acts of barbarism and cruelty that make no logical sense, yet we use our intelligence to justify it, and act indifferent to the suffering and deaths of others. They wouldn't be "obligated" to do anything for us.
The fundamental nature of reality is that we're just forms of energy, how we perceive things is how we were evolved to manipulate these energies. Some parallels with a video game but cogito, ergo sum; no one is controlling us beyond the urges of existence as a self perpetuating form of energy.
So, should we be better after recent upgrades?

Orchestrated objective reduction (Orch OR) the theory proposed by Nobel prize winning mathematician and English physicist Professor Sir Roger Penrose and Canadian anaesthesiologist Dr. Stuart Hameroff postulates that consciousness originates at the quantum level inside microtubules within neurons, rather than the conventional view that it is a product of connections between neurons. The quantum computation inside these microtubules (nm level) may be where we are plugged into the 'matrix' aka the fabric of space-time.
This reminds me of the Star Trek:TNG Moriarty (Sherlock Holmes) episodes where he was created, then later on becomes aware of the limitations of his holodeck environment and wants out to the reality of the Enterprise. At the end of the episode it shows Picard holding a large computer memory cube which holds Moriarty's universe. Moriarty was allowed to think he escaped the holodeck simulation and is now enjoying the freedoms of the Enterprise level reality when he is still in a simulation contained in the cube.
Did Gene Roddenberry actually knew that this simulation theory existed back in the 80's and his episodes describe that reality to humanity to prepare them for the eventual reality of it they will discover later? Are most/all of his episodes/movies actually sharing that knowledge he had of things way back then, like the existence of ET's and how First Contact works with other worlds etc? I believe so!! If you re-watch the episodes with this viewpoint, you will see it too. I firmly believe that he is helping humanity prepare and accept for the eventual realization of this through his works.
It is entirely up to the simulation designer as to whether we simulants are able to discover that we are part of a simulation or not. But to what end? Regardless, our existence is still as valid as any existence in any base reality. Perhaps our creation of AI will give us insight into our own creator.

Besides, if we're a projection, that still doesn't explain the reality that those creating the simulation live inside of. Wouldn't the same logic imply that they also are in a simulation, and on and on and on...
I agree100%. I’ve never heard anyone else suggest this. My other thought is (whatever the actuality), what would be the point of creating a simulation of this magnitude? With the minutiae of an average existence, what would make creating it all worth the effort? It’s the concept of simulations creating simulations ad infinitum that finishes me off.

For the love all things science please learn what the observer effect is. Mr. Hoffman's entire theory is nonsense and has no basis in actually reality.
This is an interesting idea and if true could explain the Fermi Paradox, why explore the universe or colonies the galaxy if it is a simulation that you can change to do what ever you want, you would not need the universe as it is when you can hack it into anything.
That's why I don't care if aliens are real or not anymore. They can be in the simulation today,and out of it tomorrow.

Everything is first in the mind before you can interact with it. Otherwise you don't know its there. Everything you are sensing forms a creation in your mind which you then view as the world. This is why people's realities can seem so different. They literally have their own perceived reality in their head. Most intelligent people can follow along till this point. - Everything including a person is a pattern that runs in a cycle, updated and altered each time. Your body is an energetic pattern, your behavior is a pattern, nature works in cycles, engineered systems are a pattern. Nothing you can name, except observation, is not a pattern. - So reality is patterns perceived and held within our mind.
How to disconnect it?
Why bring in natural selection to simulation hypothesis? Those concepts are independent of each other. It’s the loop between philosophical skepticism and Cartesian doubts. Maybe concepts like infinity and eternity are just a part of the simulation and reality it just a simulation within a simulation within a simulation etc. then we’re back at the square one of who started the first simulation?

In the end, I suspect I'll still be, "Ok, very nice, but even if we can be scientifically persuaded that it's all a simulation, where does that get us? What would be the nature of the reality in which the simulation and the simulators exist?" And on it goes.
What if they're not simulations but the continuation of our actual awareness wave that hasn't been exposed within the spli. We are but one path in the existence of infinity and our experiences within that path are personally designed for our growth during our split. Interactions with other paths are accidental but remain active for a period until the return from the interference wave the spli caused. The idea that we split into another path, a separate reality just seems ridiculous to me since it means that we're locked into a state of forgetfulness in a separate dimension. That seems a bit crazy to me.
It's only moving the goalposts. A substitute for an actual explanation of things we see in reality. Just like the multiverse and string theories.
Also, it suggests a god-like being. The one being motivated to simulate a universe for unknown reasons It apparently can't be done for real.
