Body pillow used to be called Dutch's Wife. And yes the lore said zhat Dutch sailors used it as substitute for their wife during their voyage, I don't know how they used it though. But that kinda served the purpose of what body pillow actually meant to be use

As a note, body pillows don't always have characters on them so it isn't solely an anime thing. I usually buy and use body pillows that have patterns or solid colors.

The reason why I watch anime is simply because the plot and character developments are better than any movie, series, or cartoon. It doesn't even matter what your preference is, you can find an anime that matches it.
