- Yes, this cast on goes by many names (as most of them do). This is the single-strand version, and it creates a nice, elastic edge that's a bit more decorative than a typical Long Tail Cast On.
It's good for beginning top-down socks, shawls, mittens... It's springy and stretchy and pretty and versatile.
Nice and slow movements, easy to follow! Well done, first one of this complicated cast on I could understand and actually do afterwards ! Thank you 🙏🏻
Outstanding video! I've tried at least a dozen ways for stretchy cast-on but this one hit's my brain in a way none others have. Thank You.
Thank you, it was a revelation how you explained it was like a knit stitch with the thumb pretending to be the left needle. Makes it a whole lot clearer to me.
Excellent tutorial- thanks
Excellent tutorial… thsnks
Great
Sorry, I've been knitting this pattern since I was a child and learned it from my great-grandmother. We lived in Transylvania, Romania, and everyone there knew it. That's how everyone knitted it.
what would i use this type of cast on for?
how do i start knitting these stitches after i'm done casting on?
how do i knit these stitches in the round?
I would use this cast on for a rib, x
I was taught this cast on 65+ years ago in school in the Netherlands. I don’t think it’s Latvian, etc. it’s ridiculous how cast-ons are now claimed by countries.👎
