  • Hello everyone and welcome to At-Man Unlimited Machining channel. My name is Tim and I hope you join us as we explore using an older Vertical Machining Center that is accessible to the hobbyist or maker.
My journey into machining started during the development of an underwater light. After receiving numerous quotes of thousands of dollars for prototype hardware, I decided to purchase my own machine. I could not find a personal or hobbyist-size CNC mill I liked so I started researching used Vertical Machining Centers. After about 2 years of research, I found a machine within my budget I could repair and use. Repairing the machine took far more effort than I originally planned and budgeted for. Fortunately I had access to a lot of really great people in the machining and repair industry to guide me and help me on my way. I started this channel to share the knowledge I acquired during the rebuild of my machine. Hopefully I can guide other makers and hobbyist in their pursuit for their own CNC mill.
My wife and I started At-Man Unlimited because we asked the question, “I wonder if there are other inventors out there like us?” Many large machine shops did not seem to want the one-or-two piece prototype work. If they did quote the job, the prices were very high. Our goal is to provide makers, hobbyists, inventors, and businesses a lower cost option for prototype and low quantity production machining.
I would like to personally thank Brian, Kevin, Larry, Mike, Stu, and everyone else that helped me along the way. We would not be where we are without the help of these great people and friends.

Fantastic, LOL I faced exactly the same issues regarding prototypes! I was lucky enough though to find someone like yourself who would make me the prototypes without me having to mortgage the house!

I hear you on that! If you need anything else made, keep me in mind. Thanks for the feedback.

First off let me say I hope you're doing well as it's been some time since you posted!. Second let me thank you for all the great content you've put out. It's exactly in my style of learning, man I love every video. Do you have this underwater light on the market anywhere? I've recently ran across a VMC 15 for crazy low $ and it looks to be in really good shape, 2001 with the 32mp control but I need to go look at it. I'd have to store it for now which is why im hesitant but if all checks out the price is way to low to pass on imo. Would love a more modern control but everything is crazy $$$$. Fadal really does seem to fit the bill relative to anyone else for a small garage shop size and cost to maintain and repair. Any how I wish you well and would love to see you back posting videos and know everything is alright. Thanks for everything so far. Mike C

Thanks Mike, I'm doing well, just pressed for time lately. The Calmotion is priced a lot better then any other option and it has been running great.

How much do u charge to make an out of state “house call” I have the exact same Fadal at a small axle manufacturing company in ridgeland ms and can’t find a soul to run it. I am willing to take a crash course to learn it quickly. It’s been sitting in my shop for two years without making one part. It has been serviced and is ready to roll.
