    By far the best rag quilt tutorial. No cross stitching or batting inserts. All flannel rag quilts are messy. Is happy to see this with cotton and denim.

      Yes, less work however the down side of it, is that you can’t use various patterns in front, but that’s not so bad either. Just saying though in case someone hasn’t thought of that. It’s very nice though. I’ve yet to make one this way yet.

    This is interesting.I might give this a try. Would you consider doing a tutorial on how to make a bedspread? I've had a piece of fabric for 2 or three years that I've never been able to decide what to do with it. The other day I picked it up and I thought it would make a great bedspread, but I don't know how to make it.

    When you put the ragged side towards you, it keeps you warmer as it creates air pockets.

    I love the way you did the rectangle one, it looks easier then cutting out all the squares . My question is how big are the squares and how big does the blanket end up to be? And how many yards did you use? I might have missed this in your video

    Question. If you're using flannel for a rag quilt, do you prewash the flannel? I know flannel shrinks a fair bit.

    I would like to make a larger rag quilt maybe a twin or full. Do you have any ideas on how to do one using this method. Maybe with more than one color on each side. Thanks for any ideas.

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  Před 3 lety

      Hi Debbie. It will take a little bit of math on your part. Measure the bed width and length. You may have to buy up to 6 yards of fabric - I'm guessing. Take your measurements to the fabric store, and they can help you determine how many yards to buy. I would start with a small lap quilt before making a bed size guilt. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.😍

    hi,Can you use polar fleece to make a rag quilt.Thankyou

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  Před 4 lety

      Hi Beverley
      Hi Beverley. I recommend use 100% cotton fabrics because they unravel easier. Regular fleece is polyester and will not unravel. I have never used polar fleece for rag quilting. Cut a small piece and through it in the washer and dryer and see what happens. Stay safe. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.

    Do you wash the flannel? Wouldn’t it shrink more than the cotton?

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  Před 3 lety

      Hi Kimberly. Flannel is also cotton, and it will shrink. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Emily. It is always a good idea to wash cotton fabrics, especially fabrics dark. The colors can run into other fabrics on a quilt. Stay safe. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.
