My Guru bhai Rajesh Prasanna (on the bansuri) visited me for a month in California and we made several recordings. Sometimes we would start with a raag, or a shabad or something with nothing. This was a composition from a few years ago that I had not recorded; so on one of those afternoons we recorded this live. Guru Arjan's life lesson of chardi kala shines through this one.

Aasaa, Seventh House, Fifth Mehl:

Har kā nām riḏai niṯ ḏẖi▫ā▫ī.
Meditate continually on the Name of the Lord within your heart.
ਸੰਗੀ ਸਾਥੀ ਸਗਲ ਤਰਾਂਈ ॥੧॥
संगी साथी सगल तरांई ॥१॥
Sangī sāthī sagal ṯarāʼn▫ī. ||1||
Thus you shall save all your companions and associates. ||1||
ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
गुरु मेरै संगि सदा है नाले ॥
Gur merai sang saḏā hai nāle.
My Guru is always with me, near at hand.
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सिमरि सिमरि तिसु सदा सम्हाले ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Meditating, meditating in remembrance on Him, I cherish Him forever. ||1||Pause||
ਤੇਰਾ ਕੀਆ ਮੀਠਾ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
तेरा कीआ मीठा लागै ॥
Ŧerā kī▫ā mīṯẖā lāgai.
Your actions seem so sweet to me.

Lahore Shaher zehr kehr aath pehar.Nevertheless Satguru ji sat in poise and in celebration of the divine , even on burning hot plates of the June month. He took away the fire and poison of hatred and distributed sweetness of divine love .

Dhayna ho gaye Shivpreet Singh Ji Bhai aapke bhaktimaya paath ko sun kar. I first heard Gurbani by Jagjit Singh ji, it was Guru Teghbahadur ji, salok mohala 9 more than two decades ago. I am not a Sikh, nor born in Punjab but since then those words have guarded me against depression of failures, and against arrogance of successes. Still with singing of Bhai Harjinder Singh Srinagar wale I found unbelievable faith resonating in my heart. And now Bhai Shivpreet Singh ji ! I can not find any word to describe how grateful I am to all of them, Gurus who composed these verses and Sikh Community who preserved them so selflessly while sacrificing everything.
