I think all nursing homes and retirement communities should have a therapy animal of some sort. They seem to bring comfort to a lot of people who wouldn’t have it otherwise.
I truly believe that cats especially bring so much comfort and much needed calmness. Living in the moment is a very powerful and helpful coping thing to do in our lives! We have 8 therapy cats in our home. xo
He is such a beautiful cat, and he has the loveliest temperament. Therapy animals can do what medicine often cannot, and every nursing home/assisted living community/hospice should have a resident therapy animal to help the residents de-stress and raise their moods.
My Abyssinian is like this too. She loves all humans, and she's excited whenever we have visitors. It haven't happened once that she would not like a person. She normally only lies on my lap but if we have visitors, she lies on theirs and give them all the attention to greet them. ❤If she was able to tolerate the leash, I would consider getting her certified as a therapy cat too. She would be so happy about meeting so many new people.
My cat buddy is currently undergoing therapy cat training! Within the next 9 months buddy the siamese should be licensed and ready to help Omaha residents!
my cat is actually very similar which is funny because she was a stray at a trailer park before we got her. she was spayed and i don’t know her past, but she is so calm and friendly and super laidback. all she wants is attention lol, this job would be perfect for her (with proper training, which i feel like she’d be able to do as well as she has no behavior problems so far)
If you'd ask me which breed of cat would be an amazing therapy cat, I wouldn't have said the Abyssinian, but it's all down to the individual. I'm looking for a cat that can give me comfort and support, and who I can comfort and support in return. Does anyone have any thoughts?
Get an Abyssinian. I have one, and she's the most wonderful being was blessed enough to meet. ❤They bond strongly with their human, are extremely friendly, intelligent and will give you so much tenderness and affection. They will follow you wherever you go, and love your whole family. The only bad thing is when you have to leave them. My Aby would look through the window to see me coming back, be restless and meow. It's heartbreaking. But if you can spend a lot of time with them and make sure they don't get bored, there's no better breed. Each cat is different but this seems to be pretty universal. Abies are the most amazing cats, I swear. 🥰

I wish we had therapy cats at work😩the dogs that come in are so dopey and aren’t very affectionate I feel like cats are more loving and appreciative.

Beautiful! God bless you all! Abner too of course! He is a godsend in every sense, bless him!
Abner doesn't have emotional intelligence, he has emotional genius!!!
Animals have emotions and rationality but it's limited. Emotion is a behavior and intelligence is limited since it's a behavior.
Oh mercy lil Abner how sweet
What a little angel! The joy he brings into so many peoples' lives when they need it the most is an indescribable gift.
Its as if he knows the purpose of his life ❤
I remember seeing photos of Abyssinians as a child and thinking they were beautiful cats, but this one. The eyes and coat. Wow!!
Great kitty and the fact the owners do such thing makes my heart melt

What a great cat! I’ve had 2 Abys and this is very unusual behavior for an Aby.
Watching that sweet little kitty bringing comfort to those patients brought tears to my eyes.
thanks for uploading this!
To the people who downvoted... I'm sorry you are hurting. You are loved, I'm telling you you are. I know because I love you and so does Abner.
@tyler...that's compassion of highest order... Wish i could have a fraction of it
Maybe the people that downvoted had Parkinsons Disease or couldn't see the buttons well. Or cats stepping on phone screens.
Some Angel's have FUR🙏🙏🙏🙏😇😇😇😇🥰🥰🥰
All cussy pats are a blessing, just ask them.
Those last couple of shots Abner had his paw on a woman's hand. THE best! :)
