- Amazing duo, amazing sound, amazing song....thought I'd try and capture that monster bass timbre and have some fun
To avoid confusion - the floor tom pad rim triggers the china cymbal
I realized I played the end of the first verse incorrectly, oh well...
As far as the sound:
No analogue pedals here, all was done in the box - The low bass sound is DI with a lot of slow attack compression, plus an envelop shaper to boost the transients and a band-pass EQ between 60 and 420 Hz. The center high bass is gated to remove noise, and then pitch shifted with Cubase's stock SoundShifter, then routed to a Big Muff emulator that goes to a Vox AC30 emulator, and finally EQ at will, with a low cut at about 400 Hz. I tripled the recorded bass track, panned the additional two left and right and moved one backwards and one forward a few milliseconds to achieve the fake stereo effect. This side bass has instead the Bogner Überschall emulated amp and no Big Muff.
