Raul Neves: *opens pedalboard's garage*
Hahhahahahhaa! Niceeeee!
When you opened up your board for the first time, I could feel my mind being blown out the back of my skull. I've built a comprehensive Royal Blood style board before, but this just deserves nothing less than a standing ovation. Holy shit dude.
You made my day! Thanks for this feedback, I really appreciate it. Kudos!
When he opened that board my pants got a little tighter 😂
@@raulxneves I'm sure you don't like to flaunt or talk about prices of stuff, but I only want to know how much you spent on just signal and power cables
@@dentninja Hahhahahhaaaaa! Well done!
@@roxasrox123 Don't know for sure! Sorry.
i wonder if mike kerr watches your videos and want to sound more like you.
Hahhaa, who knows! Thanks dude, this kind of stuff make me keep going!
Dude, I've been watching your covers since Honeybrains and you sounded closer and closer to Royal Blood's original tone. Since Shiner In The Dark you sounded practically identical, so seeing how you explain your sound in such detail is really a giant contribution to the community!
Really, thank you very much for your covers and keep up the good work!
PS: I think after watching 21:36 you could do more covers of the first and second album!
Ahhh man, you made my day!
Thank you for your support.
Yes, I also want to record covers of the first and second album, but it seems like people aren't looking for that stuff anymore, so we'll see. What song do you suggest?
@@raulxneveswell I think every Royal Blood cover CZcamsr should have an Out of the Black cover. 😅 I don't make the rules, that's just how it goes.
And for the second album it's either Lights Out, but since you have that tremolo in the amp sim pedal you should maybe think about giving 'Don't Tell' a go? It's kind of a slow song, but has one of the best solos in Royal Blood's entire discography.
@@joonasvuomajoki2636 Noted! Hahhaa... Thanks!
Thanks a lot for all the hard work ! Your video deserves a million views !
Thanks dude!
This is amazing. Thank you for the very detailed explanation of this complicated signal path. Your pedal board is so neatly packaged and it sounds amazing.
Thanks brother, I appreciate it!
Thanks Brother! Great job with your setup! Sounds amazing! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks man!
BRO! INCREDIBLE tones!!! This was a pleasure to watch and listen to. Your board is so clean, and to see you getting these tones running direct without amps is insane!
Thanks dude!
Hey man thanks for putting this up! I've been looking for these kind of videos for my duo band! thanks so much
You're welcome!
What a remarkable video!!! Finally!!
What a job. Congrats!!!
Thanks man!
Awesome board and thank you for sharing! Really appreciated.
Thanks dude!
Thank you for doing this. Seen your covers around for a bit and have just started building a RB rig (coming from playing guitar for 15 years, first bass I've bought). Your tones are perfect.
Nice, thanks man!
Thanks a lot, Raul! Awesome video! Keep up your killer tones!
Thanks man, that means a lot!
Just wow... you are a sound wizzard!!! thank you so much for sharing!!!!
Thanks man!
I'm really impress, your video is so complete and very clear too, thank you for sharing with all of us. I follow Royal Blood since 2016 and it's nice to know the sound of the Super Badass pedal to replicate their firsts songs. Keep it up and greetings from México 🤠
Gracias muchacho!
Wow! Excellent video. I have to buy more pedals now.
Seriously, you explained everything perfectly. You get a follow from me and looking forward to watching your covers.
Thanks man! I appreciate that!
What a great video. Thank you for sharing all your hard work in building this amazing board! I built my own (very primitive) Mike Kerr board a few months ago, but this is light years ahead! At 10:54, when you reveal what's underneath - was just incredible to see!! WOW. 😮
Thanks man, cheers!
@@raulxneves I can’t thank you enough for this video. 🙏 The details are tremendous. What a ton of work you’ve put in - to not only build the board, but to share your tones and routing. Thank you! I have subscribed as well.

@@raulxneves By the way... I saw Royal Blood in Salt Lake City exactly one month ago! I was standing right in front of Mike Kerr (leaning on the barricade!) so I could see his pedals quite clearly, and how he was switching his effects on and off. It was a brilliant show - and very inspiring!! Your tones are practically perfect when compared to Mike's. Outstanding job on nailing his sounds!!

Cara, que vídeo magnífico. É o timbre do Mike Kerr puro.
This was incredible and you have the best tone I've heard yet on CZcams. Do you have a wiring diagram? I'm still confused on the signal chain and how you lead some of these to bass only / guitar only.
Thanks dude, I'm appreciate that!
I don't have a wiring diagram, see the layout on the end of the video, all the pedal are in order of the signal chain.
Damn that's cool. The plasma with the phase 95 sounds dope.
And also the sub machine. Damn.
Thanks dude!
Parabens pelo vídeo e pelo belíssimo set. Abraços! 🤘
Valeu mano!
Great, I'm building a similar setup, but one guitar signal I'll pitch up only 7 semitones, that way I can get a power chord with another guitar 1 oct up. You gave me some great ideas. Thanks!
Nice, I can do that on my pedalboard too. Super!
You might be a genius. You should go on that pedal show and represent for the bass!!
Thanks dude, what show?
@@raulxneves it’s literally called “That Pedal Show”. It’s on CZcams. Some know it as TPS. They would love your royal blood setup
@@dentninjaAhhhh, ofc, I know! Who knows! Lol!
Excelent!!!!
Valeu!
10:54 made me realize that I need to watch this video over again multiple times and take notes better.
Hahhaa, great!
Great pedalboard! It really sound like Mike Kerr! Why you don’t use the Cock Fight and Mastotron pedals that I see in your other videos that are in a shelf?
Thanks man, I use them sometimes, but they're not my main pedals.
Wow thank you. This video is so important I just downloaded it in case anything ever happens to your channel or YT as a whole lol. Thanks for doing this! Only question, how does your Dream Amp sim do 3 amps? I'm unfamiliar with that pedal. If it can have different amp settings banked into it, is your custom amp selector just connected to that Dream pedal to jump between your presets?
My dream only runs my left and right guitar, the bass signal is on my darkglass. The amp selector pedal is just a killswitch for the signal, there is no effect on that one, it just turns on and off the signal.
man that is a great setup. Regarding the quartermaster, what it does it's basically plug in different pedals to the existing chain, making quicker to switch distorsion/fuzz pedal, is that correct?
The distortions and fuzzes are in loops, not in series, meaning that I only put in the chain the pedal when I'm using it, which reduces noise, and I can turn on the pedals that are below the tier, which saves space.
very cool man... , I once tried this setup years ago, but decided it is too much for me. Now I just use 1 parallel signal.. one clean & the other is effected.
Cool!
You're a genius.
Thanks man!
Oq ainda me incomoda um pouco é o fuzz, de resto to conseguindo bons resultados!
Valeu!
This is AWESOME, great work and beatiful tones!
Have you considered adding a compressor? Or for this type of setup you think is not really that useful?
Thanks man. I'm not a big fan of compressor and I think it's not necessary since the fuzzes are already compressed a lot.
Makes sense!
Again man, this is awesome!
heya raul! how do you have almost no delay from playing through your board? I seem to have a really bad delay between my notes, whereas yours seems to be spot on. I'm using short patch cables and and am using similar gear with some differences (e.g POG2 instead of MicroPOG, Sub Machine, Plasma Coil, Skeleton Key, A Whammy V and 1 PS-6 instead of 3 PS-6s, a 6-patch selector, etc, etc...) and also running similar settings to you on things like the TC Mimiq and the singular PS-6. if you have any suggestions, please help! :)
I've experienced this too, and it's very anoiyng. There are a series of factors that cause this latency, and to be honest, it is difficult to explain in a comment. What I can tell you is that you must have a good power supply, good quality patch cables, eliminate digital pedals when possible, have a good order in your signal chain, have a decent interface and a computer that can handle all of this . I know this seems like a lot of information to absorb. See the end of my video that I just posted, or my last post. I started providing consultancy on pedalboards to solve problems like yours, if you are interested, get in touch.
What an amazing video! And spot on with the tone aswell! Just a quick question but what pedalboard is that with the folding up top to put more pedals underneath?
Thanks man! Vertex Tour Compact MkII.

Incredible, inspiring tones man!
How have you got your Dream 65 set? Do you just use pedals for the Drive, or the Dream 65 too? Where are your gain, bass and treble, Volume and output dials set?
Thanks man, I tweak when I got the Dream to find a sound that I liked then I save as a preset. So, now I don't know where exactly the knobs are, sorry.
@@raulxneves thanks for the reply!
Does the Dream 65 provide you with some dirt/drive, or is that just from the pedals?
@@joebillingham9356 I use the dream as a clean platform, all the tones is from the other pedals.

What pedalboard do you use? I'm thinking of having a swappable bass/guitar board so I guess I need even more octavers for all chains.
Vertex Tour Compact MkII
that is tight, wow bravo man. Do you have those custom 3-amp pedals for sale by chance?!?!
Thanks man! Where you from?!
@@raulxneves I’m from Canada but I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico
@@trevisol22 I've already made some pedals to sell to subscribers, but I think sending them to where you live would be very expensive and unfeasible.
@@raulxneves shoot that’s too bad I would have purchased one. where do you live? Where did you order all the hardware to built it?
@@trevisol22 I'm from sweden, I bought the footswitchs in German and the other components is pretty standard, you can find anywhere.
Hey Raul, I've been trying to achieve a similar sound for ages using the EHX POG2- but no matter how much distortion or fuzz I drench the octave up signal in, it always sounds thin, tinny, and very digital. I notice you're using the micro pog very early in the chain, and of course the results here are incredible.
So, I was wondering if you could give me any advice on how to achieve a less horrible sound, directly out of the POG? I'm actually using a Gretsch Junior Jet II Bass, so I should in theory be able to get somewhere within the same ballpark after all the fuzz and such.
Dude, it's hard for me to know what's wrong with your sound without analyzing your entire signal chain and gear. But I've already used the pog2 and it's definitely not it. Probably the order of your pedals, or even cables and power supply could be the cause of your problem. I provide consultancy for this type of assistance, if you are interested in scheduling an appointment, please contact me by email.
I need to know, how did you get that 3-way kill switch? Who do you even go to for that? I have been looking everywhere for something like that and cant find anything.
I built it myself.
In terms of using the upper octave on guitar side (in your case the micro pog 2), is this just left on for all songs? cos with certain royal blood songs i cant always tell if the effect is used but maybe its just the way the sound mixes in well.
I would say it is on 70% of the time. But not all songs use POG.
@@raulxneves I had a feeling as such, thank you! 👍🏻👍🏻
Aweaome! Do you know an estimate on cost for your pedal board?
I need to start saving! 🤘🏻
A lot, I don't even know how to start. Sorry.
How you get the guitar sound? Your using 2 channel output right, for the wet n dry . 2 xlr out . Im a huge fan RB btw

Quantas oitavas pra cima você coloca no PS6 que dá o efeito de estar subindo?
2.
My D and G strings sound unpleasantly thin and piercing when running Micro POG to distortion. Do you have good tone across all strings and frets?
Yes I have. The only thing that bothers me it's a little latency to record, but about tone I can't complain.
Hello Raul, where can I get a Amp selector like that? Thx Man
I built this one myself, I recommend you do the same. If you don't have this skill, look for a handmade company that manufactures for you.

@@antoniomontes8951 Thanks!
Hi bro! Do you have more details on how the amp selector GTR 1 & 2 is chained in your signal? I'm kinda lost from that part
After the Mimiq, the signal is divided by 2, one goes straight to the Amp Selector and the other goes first to the Mxr 6 Band EQ, and then to the Amp Selector. Just remember that the Amp Selector is just a kill switch.
@@raulxneves cool! How did you loop the bass signal to it? How many ins and outs do your amp selector have?
@@kldelacruz The Amp Selector pedal it's just a kill switch that I did, 3i and 3o. I know that it's a long video, but I explain everything in it, watch carefully! Thanks.
@@raulxneves Yeah I actually watched the whole video three times already while fixing my board too hehe but I find it confusing how your amp selector works. I think mine is different
I was able to replicate what Raul is doing here with multiple "hard-click latching" Murder One killswitches.
Gotta get back to this and ask a very specific question. I got a second hand Micro POG because I couldn't afford a new one and I noticed the pedal gets a little warm. It's not stovetop hot, but gets about body temperature. Since I don't know how a new pedal works I want to ask is this normal for this pedal or is this thing about to be a brick? 😅
I never touch my pedals in my pedalboard! Hahaa.. But I will pay attention.
how did you do your “amp selector”??
I custom made this pedal, it's just a killswitch.
