This entire topic is a trap for many people.
Buying a new car and having to actually budget for, on average, over $600/mo is a fast track to useless consumer debt for years. All that for a rapidly depreciating car. No thanks.
Buy a cheap beater for cash. Drive it until it can't go any farther and get another. You'll be miles ahead financially.
