I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I've been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I've qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level. - Sport
You know, that Amazon box has been looking at me funny for months and we’re gunna have a problem. 🤣🤣🤣
Those two poster tubes on top of it gives it a goggly eye type of vibe lol
😂😅
You eyeballin me Amazon???? Matt move the box. Or give it a name.
@@erniebrightfishing 100% name it. It needs a name.
hahahaha
🍺Matt. I thought this was another good one containing usable information to those who choose to listen.👍
thanks! I feel like these are the most educational types of videos but generally get less views unfortunatly
🍺B.A.S.S. Santee Cooper…..Welcher 5th, Palaniuk 6th, Cook 8th, Zaldain 13th, Cox 17th, Kennedy 27th, New 33rd, and Benton 39th after day one. 😎
Austin Felix needs a big bag tomorrow😊.
real big bag!
November last year the wind almost killed me while on a very large lake. Never again!!!!! It took me over six months to recovered from the injuries. Awesome video!!!!
sorry to hear that
Really good stuff on this one, thanks for sharing your knowledge of the wind and positions of fish during the wind!!!
thanks!
🍺Heavy hitters. Group “A” 1st,3rd,and 5th. Group “B” 3rd,4th,and 5th. All 6 made the knockout round and 3 saved their fish and have good starting points in the morning, which is important…..50K big bass tomorrow. 🙏I truly want you to get that opportunity in the very near future.🤠
I truly want to be there!!!!
Thank you Matt! I have fish dates in May at East Harbor. As a kayak angler , I wanted to fish around the grass shallow area not the piers and docks. How you explained it, I understand it
good luck!
Great tips, thanks. Seems like just about everyday this spring has been windy here in Iowa.
seems like it wont stop blowing here
Thanks for your constant help. Particularly don't see many other vids that mentioning saddles.
Awesome!
1st 2 bass of the year yesterday here in Michigan with my new hover rig 😊
Yes!
Damn it man. It’s windy today and I’ve been working on building lipless cranks and square bills all weekend. I’m jonesing. lol wishing I could get out on the lake.
thanks for watching!
Thanks Matt
you bet!
Our lake is so clear. I swear the fishing is always better when it’s windy! Quite often, I plan my fishing around the forecast of wind change!
wind helps the bite
You explained this very well but I think you could do a Catfish and Carp style drawing and it would be helpful. Ha I usually then would take a snip shot of the drawing on where to fish and stick into my fishing slides.
sounds good
@@MattStefanFishing czcams.com/video/uWbpqJhqzDA/video.html He just uses a notebook to doodle but I think it is effective. I don't know anything about the creation side of it video wise though. Your knowledge on fishing is awesome and I appreciate the many minor detail stuff you cover.
Your videos would be next level with some simple graphics. Wouldn’t take much time to add a few visual examples. Love the information!
thanks for the feedback
Great video Matt! Couldn't have come at a better time. Will be fishing a lake that is known for wind!!!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!
good luck!
Good info Matt, thanks for sharing!
you bet!
Great info ... i learned a lot on this one. Thanks Matt!
Awesome!
Thanks Matt. Logic rules! Thanks for sharing.
yes it does!
I know what give you the idea to make this video. Excellent video man you a pro . AO Y
Thanks!
Good stuff 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks!
Matt, you went into a little bit about how the bass get positioned well on grass lakes when it's windy. I heard you say points and the grass edges. Can you go into any more detail on the grass part specifically?
sounds like a good video suggestion!
Great topic that a lot of people don't seem to talk about. I like it one that wins bro blowing across a point and you get that current break
wind can help the bite if you know how to play it
Still waiting that wind to blow some bridgford into my mailbox.....Ill be catchin all the fish this week at LOZ.....lol....good luck
haha
Great video
much appreciated
Thanks Matt for another great video!! Did I miss a livestream? 🐟🎣💰
nope I think im shooting for saturday night
The best tournament my brother and I ever had, was on Pickwick current running to the dam and wind blown the opposite direction having shad stacked on a point close to bear creek. We were throwing a 400 series Poe’s bait. We were culling 4 lb small mouth.
sounds like fun!
Loved it , here have a lot of points , but we actually have tide usually a few days of a flat tide then we have a week of a strong tide , minor and major , is our fishing Bible , oh and a ton of cuts , small drains
thanks for sharing!
My big dumb brain really needs a white board drawing or something for this. Appreciate the info I just struggle to visualize. 😊
i can try to be more clear in the next one
Honestly I don't think it's on you Matt. My brain just can't get there.
Bring the wind baby!!! I welcome it … to a point of Cours. I always kill 🧐
awesome!
On tidal waters, the wind can keep the tide from coming back in. During a practice day for a BASS Invitational on the Potomac, the Smallwood boat ramp was high and dry when we returned at the end of the day to take out. 😮
no way!
@Matt Stefan Fishing I had to go back to the Slavin ramp in the creek. A friend drove my truck/trailer to the ramp. Once I got out, several of us started shuttling others so we could get out. The state after that dredged the Smallwood ramp, which has helped since then. Wind on tidal water can keep the tide out or keep it high because of not letting it out. The moon phase can make it worse as well.
I gotta get off the bank. When I get that Yak more of the insights I get from the channel will be used!
thanks!
Spot on advice,it’s just amazing though the number of boats just keep on going past the juice an fish all around it not recognizing the transitions in depths pinpointing fish feeding potential, enjoy your time on the water life is shorter than it should be,
agreed
Sick information man.
Quick question what’s that glide bait I see directly next to that huge rapala jerk bait? Phoney fish?
yep!
Matt, what are your thoughts on using drift paddles on my power poles?
I tend to not use my drift paddles
Matt, serious question. Where do bass fry go after they hatch? Do the males just guard them on or near the bed location, or do they move to shallow cover or weeds. Thank you.
they generally just hang around the cover nearest to the bedding location
Unfortunately, here in ND there's no such thing as getting out of the wind 😅
dang
Hi Matt
I fish in Chicago western suburbs. Do you think the weather holds us in a spawning pattern still? The cold weather keeps coming back. What’s the spawning behavior like for your area?
we are still prespawn with cold water. May is the big spawning month for the upper midwest including chicago
Do you think northern fishery's have more bass than southern fishery's on average? Seems like they do when I watch videos.
potentially
Where you from that you still have snow ??
wisconsin
Do you try to cast into the wind, with the wind, cross wind, or does it make any difference to you?
doesnt really make a difference
@@MattStefanFishing Thanks. It does to me. I am nowhere the caster you are.
@@MattStefanFishing Why not do a video on how to cast in the wind?
SO you got jealous and ask for some of what I've had. Huh 🤔! The green house has needed repairs and a little on the house, all because of the wind. 20mph tops is my top limit in the old ranger.
lots of wind all spring it seems
You build rods, you fish wind, why not build beefy spinning rods so wind is less of a problem when casting?
its definitely an option
Don't piss into the wind either
hahaha nope
I know that they say wind is a fisherman's friend, but my Bass Buggy gets blown around so easily that I have to be extremely selective about where I fish when it's windy. Otherwise I'll burn my trolly battery down in no time.
pontoons and wind are not ideal together
That wind decided that my carport didnt look good the way it was so it rearranged it upside down, i think it looked better the other way, mother nature is the boss!!
bummer
