I feel like you need just a pop of color so it doesn't feel flat I like neutrals too ,but just to feel warm and cozy!
Hi Ashley, You have a beautiful home! I recently retired and finally found the time for decluttering. Of course due to working, stress and not to mention 10 grandchildren, I have not been able to locate all of my seasonal decor that’s likely in a closet. I just find bits and pieces, but it’s going to be organized and together by next year. And hopefully I can do some shopping after the holiday this year to pick up some discounted items. I have been struggling this year, as my daughter has had some problems and I try to be there for my kids. Even when I have time, I feel too overwhelmed to begin. So I’m just going to mostly focus on decluttering for now. Lots of bags of things for Goodwill…

I would put that huge arrangement in kitchen on the dining table
Sometimes the season changes and i know its time to change up my decor, but i dont have a vision. I also lay all my pieces out to see what i have before styling. I find that when i dont have an idea of where to start, thats when i get overwhelmed and cant settle on a look. The best advice i can give is google "fall decor" or whatever season. Screen shot the looks you love. Then you have a sort of style board to work with. You may not have the pieces to make it look EXACTLY like the pic, but enough to get close. When i take the time to do this i find more energized to redecorate and i do a better job of it. Just a suggestion.
I think it's baking powder that you need to use, not baking soda. The baking powder reacts with the paint and thickens it. That's what I've read 😁 Everything looks great 👍
Looks nice. You can take the orange throw that you have and put it on the back of the sofa. I think that would look pretty good. That way you'd see that nice color a no color scares you. But you did a good job😊
It takes me several weeks to “complete” my seasonal decor. And a ton of trial and error and moving around. Love that you showed the real side of decorating and how tough it can really be sometimes. But the best thing about it is you can always change something that’s not working. It’s definitely a “learn by doing” hobby. And I love your color palette this year!

I do love the way you show your struggle with decorating. I love and hate decorating at the same time. Sometimes it comes easily to me and other times I can perseverate on one area. What I find helps is to walk away and go back to it the next day.

I love fall and winter but it takes me FOREVER to get things decorated - I never trust myself but watching you do this has been a big help!
You can add some moss to the bowls before adding the pumpkins to raise them up higher.
I think you need a table runner, a tray for the island and coffee table books and a candle for the coffee table. Then you would be nearing perfection. 💕
My favorite arrangement was the one in the kitchen island. I would love to see that on the dining room table or the coffee table. I like a lot of color
Lovely decor! To raise up bowl fillers, put a smaller bowl upside down in the larger bowl 🍁
Good idea, and you can also use floral form to give added height, which is easier to control the desired effect.

Thanks for sharing your home with us. Bowls and vases can be left empty. It makes great decor by itself and can sometimes look more high end and streamline (since you do not like clutter). If you like neutrals, you can def use tan, taupes, creams, and brown. That will def bring in the fall vibes.

Just a tip for the baking soda paint technique: use a 1:1 ratio bs&paint. Also the key to fantastic texture is using a chip brush and stipple it, don’t brush it on!!

It's been in the high 90s for weeks here in Southern California. Today it's going to be low 90s but it's raining so it's humid. Our humidity is usually around 20% but today it's 60% which is quite humid for us with the higher temps. I'm not quite ready for Fall but love watching Fall decorating videos to see all the different ways people decorate. Just watched Freya Farrington's Fall video, she lives in England, and she also decorates in neutrals. Neutrals are so calming and cozy. Always love all your decorating videos 💜💙💚💛🧡

When you first dumped the paint into the cup… adding the baking soda to that (a lot) would have given you that textured look. I did this same diy and figured that out. It’s 60 baking soda 40 paint!!! Love the house it’s beautiful the colors added in looks amazing.

I also like the pumpkins with the baking soda texture better. I love the way they looked in the big bowl. I am heading over to see how you change the entryway table, but if you like the eucalyptus stems on that base Michaels has some that look more Autumn 🍂 like. When you're mixing with the baking soda you need to use at least baking soda and half paint. If not a little bit more baking soda. You want it to be so thick that it looks like a paste! And mine has turned out like that middle spray paint one! But for literally a third of the price.:)

You may want to put some crunched up wax paper in the bowl to lift your pumpkins and fill the bowl without using 100 pumpkins. ❤
Put the candle holders on the dinner table
It all looks so nice. Like the texturing effect on the pumpkins,. You did such a nice job on the shelves. For something different, you could put a wreath on your table and the pumpkins inside it. You could also add some neutral leaves or cut up a garland and use pieces as accents. It is so much fun the decorate for fall - hope you enjoyed it, I sure do.

You definitely should add some colored throw pillows or floral ones for fall.. It will make the couch area less white.. the key with the baking soda or at least what I do is I pour baking soda in a bowl and add a little paint and mix It.. you definitely have to ad. More baking soda than paint for the textured look.. also where is that tall black lantern from that’s by your big mirror
I love the warm tones. Looks cozy and natural. As for the coffee table, leave it blank and see how you feel about it after a couple of days. Like you said, you have enough going on on the shelves. 🫶🏼🥰

Good Morning Ashley! Amazed that I made it here two minutes after you posted. I also struggle with loving my everyday decor and wanting to decorate seasonally. I've become more selective with what I choose for seasonal, as I want it to still match my furnishings. This year, we went with a burnt orange/grey in the back of the house (kitchen and family room) and neutrals in the front; living room, dining room and foyer. All of our furniture (in the back) is grey, so it works well. You made a good choice adding the black back in to your shelves, looks great! Thanks for the "painted pumpkin" tutorial!
