You join us as we start our journey from land to water! We start our week by viewing luxury narrow boats and wide beam boats moored at the fantastic Mercia Marina on the Trent and Mersey Canal. We then take a visit to Collingwood Boat Builders over in Liverpool. We also take a look at moorings in Salt House Dock and spend a lovely two hours at The Albert Dock. The Liver Building on the water front was also a great sight to see.

We loved the Liverpool Docks, and we did the Ferry Cross the Mersey, so cool singing the song as we went.
Hey Lucille, if we have had the time we would have done the ferry as well, so cool to have done that! We both keep saying that one day we will go back to there as we really did love the place, just a shame we only had a few hours to kill as we had to get back to the boat builders. You need to remember that if you moor a wide beam in Mercia Marina you won't be able to move on the canal. All the locks and bridges around are narrow beam.your wide beam will have to be like a static caravan.

Welcome on board as they say, its a total mad house as we have changed our minds on so much stuff (still getting a boat) since the first vlog! I am now not sleeping, Mr B is just wondering around the house in his dressing gown and generally speaking we have lost the plot BUT we are so excited. Brilliant vid. Great personalities. I to want to change my life and been trying to encourage the wife to get on the water lol. Those boats are lovely. I know on a wide beam its north or south choice. However a guy told me you can use the rivers to travel from North to South in a wide beam. Anyway great show.🙂❤

Do you watch 'Weir on the Move'? Mark and Julie live on a wide beam boat. It is lovely. We are interested in a 8 or 9 foot wide wide beam. Then you can visit most canals, not all, but a great many. I will be following your adventure.

Wow your actually going to do this and live on a boat. This is fantastic and I’m looking forward to watch this story to unfold. Only thing that really worries me is where is the motorcycle going to go. On the roof 😂😂😂or is this the end of your motorcycling days now. Hopefully not. Hi, thoroughly enjoyed your vlog, getting caught up in your enthusiasm and excitement - good luck with your quest. You make some queries so I will try to share my few penn'orth. The Sailaways come in various forms - from a bare shell, all steel and you insulate yourself, or insulated but unlined, or there is the 'Lined' version. You may have seen Luke Makes' Collingwood 12' Widebeam which is featured from the baseplate lying on the factory floor to the boat lined (walls and ceiling) with engine installed, wiring (inverter etc) water tank, toilet and plumbing installed. No bulk heads - they are positioned as you require. He has built much of the furniture himself but others, who have gone this route, appear to favour Ikea or Howdens - especially for kitchens. You may have seen Northern Buoy widebeam, Colin Jacques, Christine Anne The Buoys (narrow boats from bare shells), The Boat Family who started with an insulated but otherwise unlined boat. You may be interested in their vlog 30 ("If we knew then....") - which tells you what to be aware of. I have no idea as to what any of the finishing costs amount to. Our heads are spinning at the moment but we know we are going to love this and one day when my other half has retired I really do think we shall be on a narrow boat because we really want to explore the network fully. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on subject of getting a canal houseboat . Narrowboat vs broadbeam debate and your feelings about marina etc.
I always had a dream of being a continuous cruiser on a 57ft narrowboat. You would need to be able to work from home and have an internet connection but idea appealed. But I suspect in winter it becomes a bit tough if you aren’t moored in a marina.
I think your idea of living on a marina a good way to get use to living on canals. I’m sure you will take your new boat out more than a couple of times a year once you get use to handling it.
You seem like fun people I’m sure you will have fun with your new adventure 😊
You guys are very cool. I am also interested in making a purchase as well. But I am in a much different situation then you are. One I live in the Mojave Desert in California. I am retired military and a Retired Government employee. I don't even know if a American can even make a purchase and live there full time. But you both Crack me up in your description of how you communicate. love it.!!!

No you are right! We had a massive change of heart a few weeks back and decided narrowboat first as we both really want to explore the network, well as much as we can until Mr B stops working and then go wide beam to retire onto. As charming as you both are I am becoming tired of what is your endless chatter. I subscribed to your vlog simply to view boats and there has become precious little of that specific topic. Case in point: this video is 22:48 and the only relevant portion is a paltry SIXTEEN SECONDS!!! Seriously...MORE BOAT LESS CHAT
