I honestly never really notice a quality difference from my camera to my phone. Sometimes it’s really nice not to have to carry my big camera everywhere 👌
I find that I'm much less likely to miss a shot with my phone too. Where with a camera I have to stop, put my camera bag down, unzip it, etc., where my phone is usually just in my pocket.

What? I have the note 20 ultra, so I have quite a great camera on my phone, but I notice a HUGE difference, I'm genuinely confused how you don't notice a difference
I actually tried vlogging using S21 Ultra, and I WAS IMPRESSED. It was so stable, I didn't need a gimbal to stabilize my videos. Also, I was filming at a wind farm and it was windy AF, but upon reviewing the video, I can still hear myself loud and clear with the occasional sound of the wind blowing (the wind was very strong that time). Can't wait to create more content using this amazing smartphone!

I'm honestly really (pleasantly) surprised by the audio and how little background noise there is - plus I thought you were using a gimbal until you mentioned at the end you weren't.

This is wonderful! As a Seattlite transplanted in NYC it's cool to see a fellow Washingtonian representing the Pac-West and smart phone photography on the new S21 Ultra. I'm loving it so far.
I'm particularly impressed by the phone's microphone! I thought you used an external mic to make it sound this good. Wow! Your demonstration of the director's view is pretty awesome, too.

There's a free app called Double Take that will allow you to do that even with iphone :)

@@laurabrown2899 Now you can get Super 8 video on your smartphone, there are 2 fantastic apps, the one on Google PlayStore which is only available for Android Smartphone's is called Super 16, just make sure that the app developer is Dmitry Shatilov and the one on Apple AppStore which is only available for the iPhone is 8mm Vintage Camera, just make sure that the app developer is Nexvio.

Great video. The quality of the video and photos from that phone are amazing. I get similar quality from the Note 20 ultra. I will have to try some of those settings next time I go hiking. This video show the beauty of Washington, so glad I moved out there.

Before any of you start saying that "This is proof that the photographer is more important because this is just a phone":
1) Yes and no, we photographers and videographers still like to use our own cameras because there are things phones can't do. They can't shoot RAW, we can't put other lenses on that beautiful 108MP sensor, we can't attach additional mics, and this is CZcams so you can't see that phones shoot 4K in 4:2:0, while our cameras do 4:2:2.
Basically it means your phone's 4K is true 1080p, and our camera's 4K is true 4K.

The only thing is… you can shoot in RAW, you can buy additional mobile lenses and you can very much attach mics. Not sure about that last point, but the first 3 options are very much available on the phones these days and been available for a while now. Still not to the point of the professional gear of course, but nonetheless.

@@djRockalot aux to usb-c is how you attach ext mic. And RAW is available on this phone, and S22 U as well.

Great content though! But if i may ask, is the manual settings in the pro mode still be used on video? Like to adjust ISO, shutter, focus etc? :) Also, is there an option for directors view without showing the front cam or not activating the vlogger mode? :)

Will you recommend it? I keep phone for 4-5 years. I have 6s now. Confused in between s21 ultra or 12 pro max
@@abhishekbhaskar2931 as much as I like the S21Ultra I don't think it would last 5-6 years. The updates stop after 3 yrs. I only keep my phone's for 2yrs max.

Hi Allison, thanks for the lovely video but I have question for you, I just bought this phone this morning and after seeing your video I followed your opinions and tried to get that very beautiful cinematic color but I couldn't come that close.. Did you some do some color grading? Or that color straight from the phone?
Awesome vid, we've been thinking of trying to make an all smartphone backpacking video to see how creative we can get. This Samsung cam looks way better than the iPhones out now.
Definitely with backpacking it would be so much more convenient to not be packing a ton of gear in your bag!

Really nice vlog, I watched it in 4K, results are impressive. Did you used the front or back camera? to capture yourself when speaking. The quality is impressive. A nice bokeh effect behind. Just that subtle blur necessary for vlogs.
