  • Riders were treated to an amazing day of adventure at the inaugural Open Space Explorer event in Orange County's Gypsum Canyon! 150 mountain bikers earned the special Gypsum Canyon badge by conquering this newly opened trail network.
The route delivered a true backcountry experience with steady climbs rewarded by sweeping switchbacks and panoramic views across the pristine landscape. After dropping into the first descent, explorers settled into a rhythm as they linked together miles of flowy singletrack.
This unique ride opportunity would not have been possible without our incredibly supportive event sponsors: Rivian, Laguna Bike Shed, OC Parks, and Cassette & Co. - all putting out efforts for Orange County Parks Foundation and their work to open more spaces for all trail users. A huge thanks for helping provide special access!
The stoke was high as riders rolled into the finish area- it was taco time, provided by the Lime Truck, courtesy of OCMTBA.
If you missed out on this epic day, stay tuned to OCMTBA's channels - the next Open Space Explorer event will be announced soon!
We're on a mission to raise funds for the OC Parks Foundation and need your help. Purchase from ‪@cassetteandco‬ 's Open Space Explorer collection of tees, jerseys, and accessories and a portion of proceeds are donated to the foundation. Support the trails and their work today!

Looks like fun. Is there a Strava link to help me find the trail head?

it was great to get out into some new space! my guess is that the plan and goal (if I understand correctly) is to take load off of more highly used trails and put them into these unused zones. hopefully as that plan rolls out, we'll get monthly open access days. I think this was the first step in demonstrating the demand is there and that this plan is needed. Ride OC is not part of the team putting this plan together - that's just what I took from it. Stay tuned, there's more to come...

@@RideOC oh okay, so this was the soft open of a potential new trail system. Seems like a lot of work to invest and not have it accessible permanently
